What makes me lol is how Americans and Westerners as so naive as fuck, thinking their country is indeed so fucked up and corrupted. But the truth is they know shit about how their fellow human beings who were unfortunate enough to born in 3rd worlds are suffering! Shame

    • Same here. You know what's really moving is the song "Wind of Change" by the (West German) rock group Scorpions. He literally wrote the lyrics in Moscow after performing at the Moscow Peace Festival in August of 1989, noticing the positive feelings that change and peace and an end to the cold war were on the horizon...they could just FEEL it. Sure enough, the Berlin Wall came down just 2 months later and the song became a virtual anthem for the entire change and hope that came with it. The Scorpions literally played the song for the 10 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. The video for the song represents much of this as well. It's abosutely moving. Few songs can give me those kind of goosebumps, but this one for sure makes the cut! I was also too young to fully comprehend all of it in 1989 (I was 13 or 14), but I could certainly grasp the tension between the USSR and the USA, and distinctly remember when the wall fell it was absolutely unbelievable!

    • He was actually the highest ranking officer, a Commodore, who commanded the entire flotilla. That's why he also got a vote. Because while not the Captain, he did have a higher rank. All the other subs only required two votes, that of the Captain and the Commissar. Just imagine the odds that off all the Soviet subs it just happens to be to one that required a third vote. If Arkhipov had picked any other sub as his "flag ship", nuclear war would've happened.

  • At 0:56 you said, "but Castro felt there was still an impending threat to his regime." How right he was! The information recently declassified from that period shows that after the Bay of Pigs fiasco Kennedy immediately asked his advisors to come up with other ways to get rid of Castro. Kennedy wanted that guy out (not that I blame him for that), and Castro understood this-so of course he turned to the USSR for protection. What else was he supposed to do?
