  • I used to ask them, very crisply, the same thing: "Do you understand?" And getting that well-drilled "Yes, Sgt!" was a good feeling. As I matured, I came to realize that my ego is ultimately subordinate to the need for them to be able to do the task. I stopped prodding for the big scream-back and began asking if anyone failed to understand. And no group answers. That was a game changer. The guy who hadn't understood put his mitt up and if there was one, there were always a few others. But I missed the theatrics... Those were fun times.

And you better have your shit looking JUST LIKE what they showed you it should look like. Otherwise they're tearing that ass up. If you've been an apprentice, I feel like you could be a good soldier. And vice versa. A good soldier is a good apprentice. So much of our institutions are similar concepts. Attention to detail. Retaining information the first time its explained. Getting your ass chewed if you don't make it happen as explained lol. Apprenticeship is like the civilian counterpart to the military.

    @jimbeam992@jimbeam992 Жыл бұрын
    • The homelessness is self chosen. Most of us have jobs lined up or ready to be given. Those of us who fucked up still have a chance to turn our lives around. The homelessness is normally tied to drug use.

      @PuffDaFlexicon@PuffDaFlexicon11 ай бұрын
    • The drugs are not the only reason man. Even if they were, drug use is oftenly tied to the military reality anyways. Being a soldier means You don’t just resign and switch environment easily when it does not suit You. For loads of guys this (on top of all the other unmentioned things) is simply the quick fix that keeps them going through it all. Afterwards they are screwed anyways. The drugs are mearly the reason for some of the underdogs, but not the sole reason for all of them to get whacked over the head by civilian parts of society when they come back. At least that is how it appears to me sir.

  • It’s sad that even experienced soldiers (the drill SGT) does not know how to fill sand bags properly. The stitching has to be on the inside of the bag. The manufacturer stitches the bags inside out because it is cheep and fast. The soldier sailor airman marine has to turn the bag inside out and then fill with aggregate. In this way the stitching is protected so it does not degrade over time. The tie tie is then also then on the outside for easier closing. Armatures I swear

  • The Army is the ultimate teaching and adversity challenge... It's rewarding because you cannot make it through by yourself even if you're the best at everything... YOU MUST UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING... If you don't you will let your battle buddies down... I was the one who took all the punishment and mean treatment from my drill sergeants, purposely and intentionally, then as soon as the drill sergeant was gone or he turned his back I immediately helped everyone I could become excellent and successful... and whenever he was watching again I made every hilarious joke I could with my battle buddy Wilson to earn the cross hairs from the Drill sergeant... I took the pain and punishment so my platoon didn't have to... It made it easier on everyone else and I wanted them all to get through together... Besides... 🤷🏾‍♂️all drill sergeant Brown could do was improve my PT scores... I think he had obsessive pleasure for making soldiers throw up from punishment... I still have nightmares to this day from Drill sergeant Brown (your ol major Payne looking ass n*****) sneaking up on me in the forest and in the field to terrorize me... I have nightmares from this 5'8 airborne ranger with a gold tooth... Everything he teaches you is genius but DONT TRUST HIM!!! He tricks you and laughs when you bleed... If you want to learn BRM or how to survive he's the best teacher... Shot out to Cobb the gorgeous expert soldier that was THE ONLY ONE MORE ACCURATE WITH A WEAPON THAN ME #engineersleadtheway HUAH L-D-R-S-H-I-P Semper Fidelis
