  • He wants to be the "most dominant and aggressive OL when he steps on the field"...then he is definitely going to the right team since he will be practicing and potentially playing next to, the most dominant and aggressive OL in the game, Penei Sewell (a guy he obviously has a few thing in common with!).

    • @LionsOnTheHunt313 never know the future and how he develops in all honesty. He could very well replace Decker down the road. He just said tonight Lions were pretty concise that he was going to right guard, even after he said he prefers the left side. Diffently a 2 year project moving him to a side he's never played on. Can you imagine if he becomes a solid starter. He and Sewell down hill on a lb/db. Road graders!!! Heard an interesting note, tonight, don't know the truth to it, but the 6th round guard we drafted fell in the draft due to 1 leg being shorter than the other.

      @tralfaz1308@tralfaz130817 күн бұрын
    • @@tralfaz1308 right, for starters. I think the long term plan is for him to be a right tackle. You don't spend a third round pick on a guy who needs to be developed just to be a guard...

  • If he develops as a right guard for the lions, then holy smokes you aren’t getting past him or Sewell.

  • My gut reaction after the draft was that I LOVED the Mahogany pick and I was pretty skeptical of the Manu pick. It was simply because I had done deep dives into about 220 prospects this year and Mahogany was my 76th ranked prospect while Manu wasn't even on my radar, so trading so much to get him in the 4th was pretty wild to me. But now that I've looked into him and become more familiar, I think the Lions did fantastic with both picks, even if I think they could have maybe waited a little on Manu and got him a little cheaper. He's a high variance prospect who needs time, but the upside is legitimately All-Pro caliber. While I think Mahogany is the safer, lower upside prospect who I think could step in right away and has a really good chance to be a solid starter for years, but probably doesn't have the potential to be one of the best guards in the league. Given how good the O-line already is, I love the process of taking two O-linemen with profiles like that... one to help our immediate depth and raise our floor, and one to help our future and raise our ceiling.

  • I love this pick, but its a pretty wild idea to have a 6'8" dude who can move like that to guard. I hope they at least cross train him a bit at tackle, because he could legit be a Decker replacement in the future if he develops. However, if he can make it work at guard then that right side of the line might be the scariest the NFL has ever seen lol. We need to start thinking up potential nicknames for it... the Polynesian Pile Drivers, the South Pacific Smashers, or something like that haha.

  • Yeah, that first game last year vs KC, Sewell and Vatai looked great next to each other. Hal’s back couldn’t last anymore and he was back on IR then out of the league. I think Detroit envisions that same duo on the right. He’s gonna have to learn to move his feet better and pick up loose change better being a guard. Will take a lot of reps.
