  • Sudden switch to 3 on 2 is a real challenge. She did so well. And the method to visualise it for her is great.

    • @Merciless🗿well the brain is not really built for that. Like they say if you were to drop a money dollar bill or something and reach to grab it you probably couldn't they show you in slow-motion somebody dropping a dollar bill and then trying to snatch it in midair before it hits the ground and almost nobody can do it it's rare that anybody really can your hand-eye coordination you're fine motor skills your brain is not meant to do that and people that think they can multi-task you know doing multiple things like the dropping and grabbing and the processing where the money is your brain is trying to multitask all those things and we can't some people are better at it but overly nobody really can know we're not really built for multitask. like if the teacher is trying to give a lecture and you're not really paying attention you're only like half listening in your drawing on your notebook and the teacher comes by and says Johnny what are you doing let me see that would you like to share that with the whole class please tell me what I was just talking about you're not going to you're only going to focus a little bit on each thing you're going to miss something you know you're not going to focus on both fully you're only going to focus a little bit on the lecture and a little bit on your drawing and you're going to miss out somewhere your brain can't multitask it's not meant to do that so the fact that her brain can multitask and can do those things at once the fact that she can do a 3 and 2 at the same time or a 4 and 2 or whatever. I mean like the fact that she can keep two separate beats one hand tapping for A beat of 2 and the other hand topping for a beat of for at the same time and the brain is not getting distracted I couldn't do that you know if I was tapping my left hand for a beat of 4 and the right hand was tapping a beat of 2 I may not have a problem for like 30 seconds and then my brain would be confused and I would immediately start having both hands tap at 2 or tap at 4 and I think that would be most people's response cuz we're not really meant to do that. Her brain might work more than most you know she might be prodigy. And yeah we wouldn't really necessarily think of keeping beat as a sign of prodigy but maybe because she can and most people can't you know most people aren't able to do that.

    • My uncle was a percussionist and he taught my family to use the rhythm for Carol of the Bells to do it. I’m trying to think of how to explain it… I’ll do capitals for RIGHT hand, lowercase for left, and MiX for BoTh? (If course you could switch right and left, this is just how I do it.) Here goes something: HaRk HOW the BELLS. SwEeT SIL-ver BELLS. AlL SEEM to SAY ThRoW CARES a-WAY I don’t think I explained that well … hopefully someone understands or could explain better

    • Yep, I was, too. I play drums and my uncle taught me this before I was able to play every day. Worked great. It came naturally. But I also come from a family of musicians and watching, listening to them practice daily from the womb I was doing it before being really taught according to him.

    • @maccha i believe they are called polyrhythms. it’s basically when two contrasting rhythms are being played at the same time. believe it or not the ones shown in this video aren’t too difficult to learn (unless you’re as young as that brilliant girl) and open gateways for many musical masterpieces. look up jacob collier if you haven’t already heard of him; he can do like 5 different rhythms on one hand, it’s really amazing.
