NGL, "back to it's roots' just sounds like a catch phrase to try and win back a little bit of community good will for the next BF game, right before they run off and do more of the same.
That's what I was thinking
EA/Dice have not said this officially, this is just how Tom phrased it to summarise how the gameplay systems are going back to what we expect from a BF game. Which is a lesson they shouldn’t have to had learned, but here we are.

There's no Battlefield without Conquest Large. It has always struck me that they ditch good game modes in favor of cheap trends. BR, or any Free For All mode pales in comparison to Battlefield's core gameplay. They should focus on improving Conquest, Breakthrough, Outpost, ...Portal! Add things to make them more unique then yes ...smth like the Finals, mixed with PvE, like Coop. Should could be fun, but the core gameplay must be there first.

The people at EA who think there’s tens of millions to be made off of it. Multiplayer will suffer, mark my words. Dice is already taking FIVE MONTHS to release 1 new season and I guarantee you that both season 7 maps in 2042 won’t be launching at the same time. You’ll have to wait 2-3 months for the second one
I wouldn't mind a Battlefield BR if it is done correctly and they keep supporting the gamemode.

This is not good news... The fact that they are focusing on Battle royale which is NOT the core identity of what made battlefield so great tells me a lot of neglect will be placed on the normal BF modes and mechanics that the community has been asking for. Just make a separate game for Battle royale and stop ruining (re-imagining) the true BF experience that we want. So sick of this but can't say I'm surprised.
Two separate teams that will work on regular BF and the BR mode, so one mode won't affect the other.
That's exactly what they're gonna do though, but in one package? BR will be made by one team while another focus on the main game so.
the BR being that it is free will outshine the normal BF stuff leading to it getting way more support than the BF stuff we want. This is bad news for the community that wants the old BF back

You're not thinking about what it will do to the core fanbase. It will split them. The fact ghost put up a poll in twitter and 63.2% of the fan's answer was they don't want a BR and most of the comments was they won't even give it a go.
I think it should be a multiplayer only game thats free to play - and continue with the portal concept by having maps, vehicles, weapons, soldiers, and gadgets from every era of battlefield. They can keep adding new stuff over the years to make it like a total experience of the best of all of the history of battlefield. But dont copy the old gameplay styles just the content. It should be a unified gameplay experience but with tons of content from old games re-created
The old gameplay style is the reason why them older games are still so successful. It worked and did it extremely well.

I would absolutely love different player count modes, 64 and 128. Imagine a modern day operations mode from BF1 with 128 players and the same cinematics? Anyways keep up the great content and def post more about BF6

that happened because the BR became 100x more popular than the traditional MP. if there was no BR the traditional MP would just continue its trajectory of being less and less popular and more tired.

As a long time battlefield player I’m actually excited for them to put out a free to play battle royale. If they do multiplayer properly along side a free BR, it may explode and pull in players from other fps games. Imagine a full destruction BR that is more hardcore and less arcade-y than COD. Fingers crossed they do all facets of this next generation of BF correctly

Battlefield will never be battlefield until they bring back the snappy soldier movement and gunplay from bf3/4/Hardline era everything else feels like 💩. And this is coming from a person with countless MVPS and Hours on BF3/BF4 and I rented a server over 3 years

I really hope they drop the live service gaming for Battlefield. It ruined BF2042.
Chasing industry trends instead of giving the fans what they want + rushing the game for Holidays 2021 is what killed it. Live-service just means the game gets frequent updates, it doesn't mean it has to be microtransaction-ridden trash. If anything the updates have salvaged 2042, it's actually pretty enjoyable now

@@ykMasiH Not really, they can still release a game half baked with it not being live service and still update it afterwards (i.e Cyberpunk 2077), live service doesn't change that, it was just executed extremely poorly for 2042 and was very quickly left in the hands of a skeleton crew
Just turn Battlefield portal into a whole game… That way players can play any game they want from 1942 all the way to 2142… They can play every game every map and as time goes on new maps from old games get released… imagine playing on a map that was never created in 1942 game…imagine playing on a new map that was never created in Battlefield 3…. they would never have to create another battlefield game at all… They would just keep adding on with new expansion packs… And when they want to create a new game, they just created a new expansion pack with a whole new fight in a setting we’ve never done before… simply call it battlefield portals… Maybe even tie in some kind of campaign where you time travel to go back and forth to change history and some of the greatest battles of all time …. Idk😂
I think bf should bring back 214x setting and titan mode instead of battleroyale or whatever, all the eastereggs hinting to it are getting frustrating at this point..

For someone like Marcus to want to quit the game dev scene. Sounds more like an EA suit didn't like what he was cooking and did shoot down his vision of BF. I guess it had something to do with "copy call of duty" and "in-game store". Guess we back to 2042 part 2.
They're probably wanting to push their specialist skins to BR knowing the community dislikes them so much in Multiplayer. Which is not a bad idea TBH. As long as BR is free to play, and they're actually making a decent game for once in the last decade.
Great video and congratulations on 50k👍🏻 I have no problem with a BR mode, it wouldn't be my personal favorite mode. But I think that a free mode like this could be important to keep the Frenchaise alive, as it could also arouse interest among new players who end up joining Battlefield while it's free. As far as the other leaks are concerned, it all sounds pretty good for now... add a server browser and I click on "pre-order" 😂😉

Well, I have hope Ripple Effect has the track record to make something viable.
I wish they would do 35 vs 35* player game matches, and bring "back" five-member squads. Four member squads does not feel like enough. Also need some more methods to communicate with the rest of the team (most especially on console, on PC at least you have full team keyboard chat), but if they make the matches last the same mount of time as in BF2042 (seem really short and often too chaotic) I guess that wouldn't really work... 35 vs 35 can work in the 32 vs 32 format JUST FINELY, it's hardly much of an increase.

Right. It's crazy to think years ago you didn't even have to hope for certain multiplayer game modes, as it was the norm to have them all in the game.

Honestly, I would rather have a coop/dynamic mission generator kinda like Warframe or Helldivers 2. You are put on a random part of a random map with some random objectives, like clear a mine field, defend a disabled vehicle, sweep and clear a village(A mode kinda like a small scale conquest battle mixed with terrorist hunt), extract a hostage, maybe some armor missions where you get to play as tanks supporting an AI infantry assault.....theres alot of possibilities. Id rather a coop game vs a linear, scripted, 100% always the 100% exact same single player campaign. In this dynamic mode, id say make it for teams of maybe 4-6, with maybe a higher difficulty "raid" type mode for groups of 8-12.
I think tom is the gaming industries only psy op! His batting avg is extremely high! But should we have any faith in Dice getting it right? 2042 is the only game I've played that the better you get at it, the worst it feels, or the first game that made me realize that about games in general.
Bring back BF2 style , wake island, strike karkand , maps you can cap out the competition, and servers you can see how many players are in them instead of going into empty servers full of bots

No thank you battle royale, no thank you gauntlet. A solid single player sounds nice. No war stories, but willing to budge on that. Core Conquest mode and none of the weird sector zones. Maybe experiment with an extraction experience with AI and PVP elements, but MUST be FULLY fleshed out. No port experience that feels like an afterthought.
I already laughed at how pathetic "back to the roots" is at this point. They said it for BFV, it was a mixed bag for many (was a good game though), and 2042, it's a failure with no room for good, and now this next one? Prepare to be disappointed.

I wanted a BR and had always assumed that would be the case. If the BR is free and the way you upgrade guns n such is via the main games it should bring more players and hopefully more stay or at least that's my hope but time will tell.
Ghost twitter page has a poll up. 63.2% of player's doesn't wasn't a BR battlefield. Most of them in the comments are saying they won't even give it a try. Unless it brings in new players, og fans won't play, and the game will flop.

Boooooooo. They need to focus on the core BF game and then branch out. This irritates me more than excites me. The BR market is completely oversaturated at this point. EA will probably throw their money at the BR to compete with Warzone and the regular MP will be left to wither and decay slowly.

The BR mode is being made by a whole studio, so could be good, I only hope the rest of Dice make the Core modes great, I definitely won't preorder no matter what they say what they show in the trailer. Dice betrayed my trust for ever.

I would gladly move over to a BF BR. I play more COD multi and WZ than 2042. Unfortunately, i still have that sour taste of the 2042 release in my mind even though BF devs made huge improvements to 2042. I really hope the next BF is a great one.

That was never in its roots!! And to top it off they are limiting the player servers to 64 players? Battlefield is loved for its massive scale multiplayer warfare! Why on earth are they turning it into COD by lowering amount of maximum players on a server and adding a BR??? Do you guys remember when Battlebit came out? It was up to 254 players! It was a huge success and I was hoping battlefield would have learned a thing or two!

128 is the main problem , it impact performances , netcode , leveldesign (chokepoints are a freaking mess) , destruction , balance between infantry and vehicles , even gun mechanics due to the size of the maps , lisibility and MORE ..

Battlefield seems to have very bad luck with Battle Royales. I don't know why EA wants a Battlefield BR when they have Apex Legends. It feels like they want to compete with themselves for some reason. Executives want Fortnite money so I guess that overpowers logic.
2025-2030 isn't exactly modern but between modern and near future . Modern today to next 5 years is also not modern like 10 years ago . I think they should set the next game in the late 2010s . That would be modern . I would like a modern game as well . The game should be a reboot of the universe . 2042 wasn't futuristically accurate . In many ways it was barely futuristic and 2040s . It did get a little more futuristic in seasons . Part of the reason is because it was slaved to the 2142 story which was not exactly how the world would be in that time . Slaved to the 42 series story . Dice didn't do a good job with semi futuristic . I think they should stay from semi futuristic and futuristic because they didn't or can't do it right . Focus on modern and historical until they get it right .
