Your first tango shoes would look so romantic hung somewhere in your bedroom or office... There's something so beautiful about a dancer's worn-out shoes. They speak and tell the stories of hard work and joyous times.
GirlyPanache maybe she could put them in some sort of light box (is that the name?) that way they look sentimental and purposeful instead of, well, a pair of worn out shoes hung on the wall. I do agree there’s something romantic and remarkable about a worn pair of dance shoes. Esp ballet slippers
@@Puglover130Lol! I don't hang my destroyed point shoes on the wall... They hang off the top corner of my glass door armoire in my room (it's almost 8 ft tall, so they aren't at eye level). My thoughts were more off a bedpost, bookshelf corner, etc. I get your point, though 😊 Just an idea that I thought might bring Hannah some joy. They would look nice tossed on top of a stack of old records, tossed next to a framed tango photo... Or even displayed in her tango workshop. Just the musings of a fellow (ex) dancer... 😋

Jewelry and accessories are where I go really wild, and I have a huge collection. I loved seeing your living room. It’s so pretty! I think style changes a lot in your 20s. I have so many pieces that I love but just aren't me anymore. I think they are beautiful but I do not wear very feminine, almost vintage things anymore now that I am almost 30. Time for a closet cleanout of my own.

I so envy your sense of personal style. It's something I have struggled with for years. I can't seem to match up my style with my personality or what I *like* to wear. I'm pretty good about decluttering, but I still always end up in graphic shirts, jeans, and clothes that don't fit properly. This year, I'm only purchasing secondhand and/or from small businesses, so I'm hoping that will help me in my quest to create a recognizable personal style.

Thanks for sharing. I think I might apply the declutter in to a box to my closet. I am the queen of buying duplicates of a style of shirt /pant that I love in numerous prints. I dont love all the prints but I haven't decluttered further because I've decluttered so many clothes that I worry I'll declutter to the point that I'll need to shop - which I dont want to do. Especially since much of what I have, even if a couple years old, is in very good condition. I need to gut out the extra prints that I don't LOVE and find a way to do so that won't feel so overwhelming. The great thing is they're mostly what I consider more summery tops. I think if I declutter in to a box, I can either look at my closet in a few months and decide yes, I'm good with what I have or pull something back in from the purgatory box. Maybe I'll do the same thing with winter clothes once I decide if I'm okay with releasing the more summery clothes back in to the world.
RKay17 I’m the same way. I don’t buy clothes very often. Most clothes I have, were actually gifted to me. (Besides leggings cause I’m super picky on leggings lol). So I do buy those myself. But ya since I don’t spend too much on clothes I never do “declutters.” I’ll just pull a shirt or two from time to time that I can donate real quick or toss if need be (if a hole gets created or something).

I gained a ton of weight while I was in college and I’ve been holding on to these shirts I love that don’t fit me (at least not the way I like) because I bought them with the intention of wearing them when I someday lose weight. If anything, they spark sadness and self-loathing rather than joy when I see them. But I don’t want to get rid of them because I never got to actually wear the beautiful pieces. But I don’t feel beautiful in them now. Your video made me want to declutter them, but then I immediately get this surge of panic about how much I’ll regret not having them when I finally work toward the body I want. Ugh. Skylar Griego I definitely understand your struggle. I’m in the same boat. But I have just a few of those pieces now. I try to tell myself that if I lose weight and can fit into that item, would I still want to wear it, or would I rather shop for new things once I am at my goal size? Try turning the narrative in your head to that and see what happens. I was able to get rid of several things I was holding onto thinking that way, once I realized that. don't worry, Skylar, I love your long comments! one thing that helps me with the "but what if I want them" thing is to remember how much I love shopping. If the shirts have bad juju, you might ultimately feel better decluttering them. Then when your body changes your reward can be to shop for a few beautiful new pieces that will be fresh to you and represent the future instead of the past. What do you think?
It never occurred to me that they might have too much bad mojo instilled in them from my own negative feelings around them. Maybe it would be better to declutter then... I guess I just hate the thought of letting go of the image I have in my head of wearing those specific pieces. But they're so pretty, they deserve to be passed to someone who will love them. And I can definitely find something like them when my body changes. I think I just have to talk myself into letting them go. Thank you for your advice! Side note: I bought Marie Kondo's book. After this video, and watching a few episodes of her new Netflix show, I feel so inspired! I'm going to start reading it today. Maybe this is exactly what I need to finally take this step. I look forward to trying it!

Hi! I think this is a great idea, selling and buying of sites like these as opposed to just throwing away. Now that you are shopping again and want to go in a more conscientious direction of spending, I was wondering your you have seen the documentary, The True Cost??? It was an eye opener for me have cut down and even stopped my shopping a certain retailers tremendously over the last 2 years Have you seen it? Thoughts? Especially on a budget where fast fashion is so cheap?

One great discovery I've made is some places that take clothing donations will also recycle fabric of clothes that aren't in good enough condition. I feel a lot better about recycling really beat up and worn items than just tossing them.

So today at Uniqlo I ended up putting back down a pair of pants I picked because they fit me well and they were on sale for $10, down from $40. Because of YOU!
