In this blog/video, I’m going to take a look at both the Foreo Bear and Bear Mini to help you choose which device is best for you and I’d like to say thanks to Foreo for sponsoring this post, since their support helps me keep the blog and KZhead channel running. Both the Foreo Bear and Bear Mini are hand-held low voltage microcurrent facial toning devices that use tiny electric pulses to tone, revive and help improve your skin. These devices also have Foreo’s T-Sonic pulsations, a vibration mode that helps “increase circulation, eliminate toxins & ease facial tension, resulting in smoother, softer, glowier skin.”
You could say the promise is a yoga session for your face! The free Foreo app guides your workouts and the Bear lineup must be used with a conductive serum, gel or cream, like Foreo’s hydrating SERUM SERUM SERUM, but you can use other water-based products if you like. Foreo doesn’t recommend using facial oils. You can also use these devices without the app too.
What is Microcurrent technology?
Microcurrent treatments have been around since the 1970s. They use extremely low voltage electricity to stimulate cell growth in skin and to stimulate muscle, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) cell growth, and collagen development.
Microcurrent facials are completely non-invasive, and (and I can say this for a fact from my experience!) painless. In case you’re wondering about getting shocked, there’s no worry; BEAR & BEAR mini have an Anti-Shock System where sensors measure your skin’s resistance to electricity then automatically adjust the intensity to eliminate any chance of inadvertently shocking yourself.
Which Foreo Bear device should I choose? What’s the difference between Bear and Bear Mini?
There are a few key differences between these devices; most obvious is size; the Bear is about twice the size as the Bear Mini. Because of their size, they are a bit different in how they fit across your face; Bear is meant to glide across your whole face and the Mini gets into smaller areas like around the nose better.
There are different intensity levels for each device: full size Bear offers five different levels, while bear Mini has three.
Bear has different programs for both a full face toning session and targeted treatments while the Mini offers only the targeted options.
Bear is the only one with a Pro Mode which lets you increase the intensity to something you’d find in a salon or spa.
Also good to know, there’s no extra attachments with either devices, so no need to replace any parts.
If you want to really be able to dial in your treatment and customize among the five micro-current settings, Bear is also the way to go.
Does using Foreo Bear hurt?
When people hear the words “electrical current” in connection to their face it might seem a bit scary or intimidating. I’m here to say this treatment is not painful at all, and at worst might feel like it does if you’re plucking an eyebrow hair. You’ll barely notice the electricity.
What does using Foreo Bear and Bear Mini feel like?
I’ve been using a Foreo Bear for several months now and I really like it. A Bear treatment lasts about 2 minutes, so it’s quick and easy to do as part of your morning or bedtime routine.
I started with both the micro current and the T-sonic pulsations on. The vibration is quite mild, and the microcurrent was virtually undetectable to me. With that said, there are some spots on my face I can feel it with tiny zings-usually around my hairline and nose area, but it really felt like a tingling than a zapping.
Early in my use I wondered if the Bear was really on, or working… then I accidentally touched it to an earring and got a very, very tiny jolt. It’s definitely on! I can also feel the tingling sensation near my nose or hairline, so it’s definitely using current!
Did I notice a difference after using Foreo Bear?
I’ve been using Bear for about 5 months and I do notice a difference. Initially I felt like my skin became a bit firmer, tighter and clearer, especially along my jawline, and I noticed a glow. For me, I’d say it took about two weeks of daily use to really notice results.
Over time I really feel like my skin is clearer and I really feel like the overall look is improved.
In short, I’m surprised to say I saw improvements, since I wasn’t expecting to.
Overall thoughts on Foreo Bear and Foreo Bear Mini
Whether you choose Bear or Bear Mini will depend on your budget, what size you think it best, like it you’d want one to travel with you, and how customizable you want your treatments to be.
Either way, I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my skin since I started using Bear and Mear Mini, and I think you will too.
