This is a quick overview of how to remove, clean, and re-assemble your P trap (this is part of your drain under your sink). This may help in solving your slow draining issues, or you may be able to find your ring that accidently went down the drain.

  • Did it! It took longer to put it back together, I had trouble lining it up. But, finally got it. Thanks 😊

    @nancystevenson562@nancystevenson5625 ай бұрын
    • When you are putting it back together, be careful not to cross thread it. Don’t force it back together. Once you do this several times, it will get easier to put it back together.

    • That was my problem! I kept getting it crooked, it took a while to get one of them on straight. It helped to loosen the one I got put together first. Then get them both started before actually tightening. Shew!

  • The cold side supply line at the bottom right of the video looked like it was leaking a small bead of water. Maybe it was a drip from putting the trap back, but wanted to point it out just in case.

  • Since ‘righty righty, lefty loosey’ strategy doesn’t work w/ this kind of connection, was watching to see which way you were going to twist each one as mine are super stuck. Oh well.

  • If i separate it the same, can I push debris stuck in the metal section out the bottom?

    @ShitscuitsAndGravy@ShitscuitsAndGravy8 ай бұрын
    • You should be able to push things through from the sink drain to the part of the p trap under the sink.

    • It is a very good possibility, but the clog could be further down the drain pipe.

  • Do you have to shut the water off first?

    @itwasmonstermash@itwasmonstermash3 ай бұрын
    • You do not, since you are not working on the faucet or waterlines, unless you are afraid of someone turning on the faucet while you are cleaning the P trap.

    • Once you have taken the p trap apart, you may be able to use a short snake to unclog the rest of your drain.

  • i did this and it still leaks... i even used the snake to clean out the pipe in the back..

    • Please make sure that the little plastic washer or seal is not damaged before putting it all together. Also, be careful to line up the connections so that they screw together easily that they aren’t cockeyed or cross thread.

  • This looks relatively simple, however I am an idiot who sleeps 4 hours a day, so let's see how long this takes me lmao.

    @blacktalon1607@blacktalon16076 ай бұрын
    • You will do just fine. Remember not to force things when you are putting it back together. Just nice snd easy, so you don’t cross thread anything.

    • Try to twist it counter clockwise at first for s few turns. After that, carefully try to twist it clockwise, making sure that you don’t rethread the P trap.

  • Video doesn’t explain everything about a P-trap

    @ivanvallejo3935@ivanvallejo393511 ай бұрын
    • The P trap is the part of the drain that has the bend in it, located under the sink at the lowest point, that’s why most of the debris collects at this point. You can “run” a paper towel or a rag through it to clean it out.
