Teams Go Head-To-Head Against The Clock | UAE Tour 2023 Highlights - Stage 2
At 17.3km in length, this year’s TTT course is almost twice as long as last year’s ITT course (9km). It’s very similar though - a simple out-and-back with just two U-turns either side of Khalifa Port to slow the riders down. Add to that a perfectly flat and exquisitely tarmacked surface and you have one of the fastest courses imaginable.

TEAM TT's are the best. I remember them as kid in the late 80's/early 90's and the kool looking pics in bike mags and posters. Very inspiring. Front and rear disc wheels, the low profile frames, bull horn bars and the tear drop hats....

Yeah, but they are also doing this race in the middle of an industry zone. Even the people in the UAE that want to watch have no reason to go there.

EF had 6 riders finish 'together' while Quickstep had 4. Sure they lost by a second but EF has a strong team and it's looking good this season.
it just means quickstep used their cards better
It means EF carried some dead wood to the finish line but they can get a friendship medal for it.

@@briangoossens1519 it also seems reasonable to say EF had more guys who could keep the pace. How not being able to drop somebody equates to dead wood is beyond me.
@@samj1185 naturally there's 4 riders who are better than the others, they would know that. Going as fast as possible means exactly that. Also, despite Evenepoel being a big motor in today's win, he doesn't provide much slipstream for the guy directly behind him. So they would and have dropped off, believe it was Serry who started behind him and dropped off as first.

It was yet another disaster for the UAE Emirates team, considering that this is their home race and that Adam Yates was one of the favorites for the overall.
It hasn't been the best start! Do you think he can take time back on the summit finishes?
Mountain stages will be super interesting this year with UAE and TJV in position to ride aggressively for change
The mountain stages are not that impressive, they are relatively flat stages with 1 mountain top finish in the end. UAE and TJV are in no position at all to be a contender (Kuss and Yates more than a minute down). It's only between Bilbao, Plapp and Evenepoel for GC.
@@l.d.t.6327 well if I remember correctly Yates did put a minute into everybody in 2020. I know it will be difficult to beat remco yet i still hope for some action

Tactical decision. The team got the number of riders across for their time and Evenpoel didn't spend more energy. So he'll have that for tomorrow.

Apparently time trials are a big challenge for you. Greg Lemond won tour de France using a tt bike against Laurent Fignon. They make a difference. I rest my case.
