  • Three ideas, ... 1. Make sure to put a drain (if needed) so line filled with water won't freeze and brake. 2. It would be nice to also have a gravity feed too. 3. They make a small RV pressure tank (like those on a home well pump) and it makes it nice to have some water without the pump having to cycle...

  • Just a tip for those of us that find we needed 1 more step on the bit. If you can’t get the hole in plastic big enough but can screw the piece in, you can heat the metal up just enough, then you can thread that through without distorting the plastic. No bulging and it will fit in much better.

  • Nicely done! I'm interested in the same tank for a similar purpose, so your video is spot on. Hey, I did a quick check on that switch because the wire gauge looked thin to me. It is max 5A and the pump is max 7.5A... so you're underrated on the amperage on that switch... might want to replace it with a beefier one (alternatively, you could install a relay and just use the switch to trigger the relay instead of the pump). Thanks for all the links too!

    • Did it. Works great! One quick note, and it's probably something you've experienced: for the connection from the faucet to quick disconnect piece, one is NPT (truncated) and one is NPS (straight) so it won't thread completely, but with enough teflon tape it will not leak. Just in case someone else tries and sees that that the threads wont fully seat.

      @jasonlau3635@jasonlau36352 жыл бұрын
  • I am looking to do similar, but unsure about securing the quick release on the car. Was the thread tapered on the quick connector? I’d be hoping the connector you used on the inside would pull the quick connector tight into the panel to sandwich it in?

    • @@KramerJunction Awesome setup! Would there also be a concern for residual water in the pump freezing? Especially given the pump’s location.

      @resolutejku@resolutejku Жыл бұрын
    • @@resolutejku haha yes 100%. I’ve actually had to repair the pump due to water inside expanding and cracking parts. I actually removed the water tank a few months ago because I spend most of my time in freezing temps and the pump is constantly frozen. I have gone through the thought process of how to winterize the system, just haven’t cared enough to do it. In a couple months I will put the tank back when the threat of freezing is gone

    @christianvega4818@christianvega48182 жыл бұрын
    • It does not. I do wish I had added something like that on the initial install or used some different pressure washer fitting, but it also hasn’t been an issue so I haven’t changed it. Hindsight being 20/20 I absolutely would do it differently a second time and I may in the near future. I have disconnected the faucet while it was under pressure more than once lol

  • Does the pump have to work harder being so far from the water supply? I think this is a great idea. I just worry about the life span of the pump in that location. I definitely like how you thought it out.

    @TheDon8771@TheDon87713 жыл бұрын
    • The section of tubing in my system is 5-6' and the pump is intended for RV use with runs of tubing much longer than what I'm using so it's actually quite over sized for what I'm using it for. I have the pump wedged in place pretty tight so I don't worry about it getting banged around, but it's definitely dust and potentially wet in that area. Funny, I was camped out the day you made this comment and I accidentally left the pump on and it ran dry for hours...I opened the water, turned on the pump and it's running perfect like nothing happened. I think the pump was only like $60 so if it does fail after a couple of years then I honestly can't complain.

The only thing I would change is if maybe I could find a more compact pump with maybe a slightly lower flow rate for water conservation purposes. An on demand pump is a must. @t0m33r5@t0m33r53 жыл бұрын
    • I haven’t looked in to this so I can’t tell you which filter would be most appropriate and far as what works with the tubing and pressure the pump runs but my initial thoughts are you would probably want the water to go from the pump to a small accumulator tank and then a filter would be installed inline somewhere after that. Drawback is it would be a bulky setup and I don’t think you would get any type of usable pressure out of it as most filters work somewhat slowly. I don’t use the water in my storage tank as drinking water but if I do ever need to I carry a large water filter made by sawyer that filters a gallon of water at a time in a few minutes.
