This is the instructional video for the round braided leather keychain kit that can be purchased through my website www.brassandblade.com. This is a fun, simple project for those looking to learn a more advanced, decorative braid. This braid is great for horse equipment, decorative and comfortable handles on bags and purses, and any number of other craft applications.

    • I love it as handles! Make sure you do the final step and get it as long as it’ll go before you attach to the bag- if not they will get longer with time and that might not be what you want. Good luck! You also might need to tie each individual strand in a little bundle so it doesn’t get all tangled up as you go

    @verdabehner8963@verdabehner8963 Жыл бұрын

  • Is there a rule of thumb for the length of the initial strips to get a specific length finished braid?

    @rustyshackleford9663@rustyshackleford96632 жыл бұрын
    • That is a great question and I dont know the answer to it! Thicker strips will make for a shorter finished product, while thin strips keep it long, but skinny. I always just start with plenty of length to make sure I have enough.

  • Nice, thanks for the explanations ! What is the initial length of the leather strips ? Thanks

    @infojaygraphie@infojaygraphieАй бұрын
    • Hi! I use a length that is about three times longer than I want the final piece to be. If your strips are thin, you don’t need them to be that long. But since the width of your four strips changes, how much you need a hard question to answer, I tend to errr on too long rather than too short. Hope this helps! My keychain strips are 24”-30”

  • Can this also be used to make a necklace? And would I end it the same way?

    @shawn8785@shawn8785Ай бұрын
    • Hi! You’d have to play around with how to finish it nicely for a necklace. When people make bolo ties (essentially a leather braided necklace) they are often finished with silver tips specifically designed for them. If it’s a more “rustic” necklace you could definitely finish it this way.
