  • I can only repeat myself: you are very likeable! It's a shame there aren't more outtakes. And not because I want to laugh at you, but i want laugh with you! Unfortunately, I didn't quite understand what you meant at the end about the charging plugs. Now you don't need any adapters anymore, the Tesla plug is standard for you. Wish you all the best from Switzerland.

    @snaky72@snaky728 ай бұрын
    • Yes I should add more outtakes at the end 😀! The NACS transition is just beginning over here and it doesn't look like CCS will be going away for a long time. One important thing that will affect owners with old Tesla cars like mine is that the public NACS standard uses the CCS protocol to communicate. So in the future to charge at public stations, I'll need to have the retrofit even though I'll be using a NACS connector.

  • Always great to see you, Lorena -and Calla! I can report that after 5.5 years and 74,454 miles, the total cost for my Model 3 is: $68,325.72. The only fuel costs were at Superchargers, as I charge at home from rooftop solar. The battery's capacity has dropped to ~94.35%. I've had the same recalls and repairs as you, but also had to pay to replace my PCS -a hefty expense! I will be spending more soon: 6-month insurance, new tires. I should say, however, that I intend to transition to a different EV and say "¡adiós!" to this Tesla. I wonder if you could guess what I'll be getting (you've reviewed one)…?

My 12v battery never failed, but I replaced it around 110,000 miles because the car was walking up more often to top it off. • Ugh CCS1, waste of money if you ask me. IDK why any Tesla user would bother, unless you don't have superchargers near you. Even then, simple level-2 charging is fine. But good informative video on the maintenance. My 2019 SR+ has had a few things repaired like the control arms squeak (under warranty) and a set of tires. I'll probably buy the 12v battery at 5 years, if not sooner.

    • My 2020 Model Y has a lead acid battery but my wife's 2022 Model Y has the new Lithium battery. I also was under the impression that the lithium battery didn't need replacement but a Tesla Tech told me that they also go bad. They are just less weight and smaller. You can get aftermarket lithium batteries to replace the lead acid battery but those also go bad given time.

    • All new Tesla cars have the lithium 16v battery installed on them today. Unfortunately due to the higher voltage, these batteries can't be retrofitted into the older cars. There are 3rd party lithium 12v batteries on the market, but they all look pretty sketchy in my opinion. Most of them tell you to expect that the car will give you warnings about 12v system after it's installed - not cool.

      @CallasEV@CallasEV8 ай бұрын
    • Yes, mine has the lithium 12v battery. You can also upgrade to a lithium battery for $479. Whether that makes sense or not depends on how long you think you're going go have the vehicle.

  • 2013 chevy volt and my insurance is liability only for 18$/month lol. i think I am an outlier. i ping pong between progressive and geico every year or two. get the burkshire hathaway class b share 9.7% discount by calling in after I signup. then progressive will give me a rate match once geico raises my rate after 2 yrs. its a game. pay for the insurance with the BOA custom cash 3-5.25% cash back credit card. in my area fast charging is more expensive than gas, and home electricity is ~$0.11/kw, and it gets pretty cold in the winter so the volt made way too much sense at ~7k$ used (90k miles). still gets 40 miles of range since the engine protects the battery from the cold, software doesnt let it discharge further than 30%, and no one has ever fast charged it since that didnt exist back then
