The scariest sound to hear on a clear day because we for fact know it’s not a tornado
Fr, I'm blessed to not have heard one in person.
I heard it 5 times in person 💀 it’s not actually scary you just have to stay calm bc sometimes the tornado is no where near you
He's talking about Siren head
Where I live we test ours once a week. Noon on Wednesdays, so I'm pretty used to it.
There’s no tornado just making sound for no reason
Those sounds are just beautiful
Some are scary some are not and some are weird looking some are not
Yep😂😂😂😂
Unless the radio and TV says that this is not a test
Why tho??????????😮
@@alejandrinaflores4160 Because it sounds delightfully harmonic, it reverbs down to my spine and gave me goosebumps, not in fear but pure enjoyment
14:56 is the siren I always hear every time
Ur lucky
It's so cool that the county can just speak through the electronic ones with just their radios lol! I'm still more of a mechanical siren fan though, mainly older sirens.
Yea the older sirens im pretty sure are automated voice messages as they sound the same each time they do the test
I used to have a job speaking manually through the older mechanical sirens you speak of. It's a common misconception in the emergency siren community that you couldn't feed a line through the old ones, but I used to get $3.75 an hour operating the old siren in ruxville ohio. Back in my day we hadf to sound that sucker every 5 minutes it seemed due to an influx of maruading bandits attacking the conveneiaecne store at every given oopprotityunity. this resulted in the majortity of thje towndfolk moving out in the span of a year, since the goddamned siren would be going pretty much 24/7, so as to sustain my paltry family on my $three am hour wage. Thanks for listening, signing ouyt sidenote/edit: we usewd a "Whelen 2000-116" back in the day, super rare model now. I hava minuaature one on my fireplcae.
@@somewhatcuddlyhammerstream7616 Wow I can understand why the townspeople moved out cause of the siren going off almost 24/7/365 days a year
Ghhhu
Fun fact about the Thunderbolt 1003: the way it manages to do hi/lo is quite interesting. Rather than having two separate rotors for the two tones, it uses only one, and has some hydraulically-actuated valves that switch the size of the vent opening from large to small and back again repeatedly. Those valves are the little boxes that stick out from either side of the horn’s base. The 1000 and 1000T lack these valves, and as such, they can only do alert and attack.
FUN. FACT. ABOUT. THE. THUNDERBOLT. 1003: THE. WAY
What is the hi/lo even used for anyway?
@@Coolkid98765 I think it was originally used for fire calls. From what I understand, most small towns back in the day had one siren that did EVERYTHING-tornado warnings, civil danger warnings, fire calls, etc., and the 1003 was one of the few that could in fact do all three tones.
@@mbcommandnerdyeah but what does the fire call even mean?
@@Coolkid98765 It means that the fire department needs to get to work ASAP, because there’s a fire that needs putting out in the area. Also, btw, I don’t know if anything I said there was actually true. I didn’t really research it. But it does make sense, though.
Thunderbolt sirens are my absolute favorite
Same! Its the silly bell shape for me haha
Same especially the 1003
Same i love it!
Loudest things in the world, too, and scary. If it's storming hard and gets calm all of a sudden, and that thing goes off, it would make even the most devoted atheist believe in God just to pray.
I be shitting my self when it's for real tho🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
It actually happend to me

I played all of these sirens on a loud speaker and everyone was confused, amazed and panicked 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That’s.. kind of mean, but I mean it also depends on who you’re doing it to I guess
My city in Boerne TX tests our tornado siren once a day at noon. Every time I hear it: Chills. Reminds me of actual tornado producing storm. The sirens I hear the most are usually Thunderbolts. That one @7:07 is what I hear often.
it genuinely makes me shudder how the sirens i heard in NY we’re just casual fire alarm ones. (barely for even that) If i moved to another state i wouldn’t even think a tornado was touching down. Just another wire mill siren. Im genuinely so used to them being used nonchalant that i would continue my day like normal if i heard one
@@Xero_Cars Well when the sirens go off & you are in another state, it means only one thing: Either a Tornado is nearby or Straight Line Winds from one real bad storm. That one my city has in Boerne has gone off around 7 times in the last 4 years because of severe storms. Every time it goes off at noon, I stop briefly especially if there's clouds because it reminds me immediately every single time of the plains.
i love thunder bolt siren
@@user-vp4sn8et1b Think it has that classic tornado alley sound to it.
A siren test every day at noon?!? EVERY DAY?!?
When I was in a neighborhood, I heard a storm alert siren going off in the distance.
It must be a threat,or it was a fasle, or u would been hit or it was a test

The town I live in still blasts the "Noon Whistle", which means letting the tornado siren go off for about 20 seconds every day, except Sundays, as it has for a century. The town was gonna stop doing it about 10 years ago, but in a vote 92% of people wanted to keep it 😂. I've seen it scare visitors. It's very similar to the one @17:40 and is only about 150 yards from my house.

I don't know the model Thunderbolt it was, but it looked and definitely sounded like 7:07, but it had a constant tone like the one at 1:13. It damn near growled when it started up and because it rotated, that doppler effect was spine tingling. It was right over our school.

Awww! Rip Fratt. I bet he was nice
@@byrdurbex You mean “it”? If so then yeah. It was a cool siren and I had great memories with it as it was the first siren I filmed out of state, and the first time I filmed it, I met up with some enthusiasts I talked to a lot back then (still talk to one of them. The other guy Isn’t as active online anymore as he works now). It was just such a historic looking siren as it was on top of the Fratt elementary school (off course) which happens to be an old building. The siren just really made the building have that 1950s historic look to it which made it my favorite siren I have ever been to and heard in person. Another cool thing is it’s loudness. It was nowhere near as painful on the ears as a 1000T, but it’s still VERY loud as it shook my guts and the ground in attack even from 500 feet away. My dad even said he could literally hear the windows of the car rattling as it was so loud. But if u mean “he”, then bruh, sirens are things just like ur furniture. They don’t have a life
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL that is fascinating! ive never experienced a siren up close unfortunately, but it sounds incredible also i use "he" as a term of endearment for inanimate objects for some reason haha...
