Pretty sure Konami of all places was the only studio to come out of it in not complete shambles and even then Silent Hill took a lot of damage in the transition. Ironic given where Konami is now.

Between THPS and Skate, everything else that can be done with skateboarding in a video game has been done. • @@andyenglish4303 It's not just pressing buttons with a Guitar controller, holding the guitar feels much better and way more fun to use over a normal controller as you can get into the music while playing while maximizing your finger dexterity. It's also extremely simplified from how real guitars work and yet it doesn't subtract from the games themselves in the least. It makes complete sense why you would try and do that same thing with a board when the Wii had already been doing that with the Wii Mat. People who are playing this game aren't going to be looking for a realistic Skateboarding simulator, just close enough that they can pretend like they are which is the same reason people play Guitar Hero and never learn how to actually play the Guitar, while other people who do play can still enjoy it for what it is. The only problem I can see with this board unlike the Guitar controller is that it would break very often just due to the constant full body weight put on it combined with the rough movements needed to pull off tricks. It needs to be extremely durable while containing the working parts of a motion controller inside and be affordable, but as the video points out it had none of those qualities so it was doomed from the start.

It’d make sense as to why so many challenges just don’t work with the new physics. Rad Rat made a pretty great video analyzing that game-he definitely puts his evidence together for Robomodo’s laziness in a pretty profound way, but I now suspect much of their “laziness” is due to them operating with a much smaller staff and the need to meet a strict deadline.

Back in the day the only other kind of punk music you'd hear was the pop variety on FM radio a la Green Day or Blink 182. • 2:50 American Wasteland doesn't get enough respect. Yeah, like all of the later Tony Hawk games, it isn't well polished. But I think it's the best out of all the free-roaming games in the series. It took the better ideas from the THUG games and improved upon them. The settings, characters, and vandalism-heavy premise are a lot of fun. The skating still felt great, it had a TON of modes and classic levels. In my opinion it was the following game, Project 8, where the series really started to go off the rails (although I respect the innovations they attempted in P8).

  • Tony Hawks Underground was actually my favorite game in the franchise. It had it all, the great gameplay of the first three games, a kickass soundtrack, and a really engaging story that I was hungry for more of. ...then Underground 2 came out, had literally none of that, and didn't connect at all to the first game in any way. I was so excited for it, and had such truly massive disappointment upon its arrival that I never bought another Tony Hawk branded thing ever again. Super sad about it though, a real sequel in the vein of like, a Mass Effect 2, would have been amazing.

  • God it was so depressing seeing the downfall of the bird man, I'm sure like most people my introduction to the series was pro skater 3 and id followed the games ever since with my thrasher deck in one hand and ps2 controller in the other. When underground came out it cemented itself as one of my favorite video game franchises and to me I feel like if they were to remaster underground 1 and 2 and actually put some love and care into it, we could bring back the pro skater franchise and maybe revive some semblance of the skate culture most of us grew up in. And if skate 4 came out around that time we'd surely see a resurgence in skating nostalgia
