The reason Johnny blaze drinks a jelly bean martini is explained in the DVD commentary. It’s simple. Nick cage asked for a jelly bean martini.
Now i want a jellybean martini
Why did Nic Cage licked the lid of a beer can ? 🤔

Wait these are Bad Movies... I Loved Ghost Rider as a Kid, I mean hes literally on fire and has a motorcycle
The two main things we need to love a character, yes
@@dr.downvote did i mention he has a fire chain
Even as a kid I could tell both of these movies were bad, though the first one is actually pretty entertaining. The 2nd one is extremely boring tho.
I liked the first one but I really disliked the second.
@@bullymaguire9156 why do people dislike the second? The action and stunts are so much better
There’s actually a cool reason it goes all dark around the fight scenes with Demon Kerrigan. In the comics his character, Blackout, had a power that would “psionically extinguish all natural or artificial light within his immediate vicinity,” creating a . . . Blackout. Yeahhhhh the cgi is still kinda trash but at least the thought was there
I understand why people love/hate the part where Nic Cage just went crazy but dude, if there's a raging demon in your head screaming and trying to force its way out to take control of your body then you would act insane too.
Without nick cages terrible/amazing performance, I don’t think this movie would have a cult following
They don't have a cult following. 500 people liking a bad movie isn't a "cult following".
Didn’t think I’d see you here. You right though.
@@DeadlyDanDaMan a cult following is by definition a SMALL and dedicated fan base. Not sure why a fan base of 500 doesn’t fit that.

i think the first movie, while rough, is still a good movie at the core. The second one, while ramping up the effects and CGI, has a pretty poor story and essentially retconns EVERYTHING established in the first film, and then itself gets retconned again by Agents of Shield. Still, a reboot of the ghost rider done by a competent team would make my year.
These ghost Rider movies are not Canon to the mcu
@@mickeymouse7726 Neither are the Blade or the X-Men movies, and those are fun as well.
To be fair to the retcon...the first movie was a Marvel movie. The sequel is Marvel Knights, which was straight to DVD/more adult themed movies. Punisher Warzone is also part of this brand and that retcons alot too even though Patrick Jane doesn't return it is meant to be set in the same universe as the original Punisher movie. Its like they went "Its canon enough to be a direct sequel, yet we won't fully commit to that and have it as it's own thing." And considering Marvel was doing this before the MCU kicked off and was trying to make more mature, dark, gritty superhero/antihero films...I think that should be applauded. They had very limited budgets because they tried giving people want they wanted...and if it would of payed off who knows where that would of led...maybe more adult superhero movies would of gone mainstream...but ultimately I think they were too ahead of what people were ready for. Shame.
@@mickeymouse7726 In a post-Endgame world, not being a part of the MCU is a compliment.
@@silicabeastmaster1175 Punisher: War Zone was a reboot. It's confirmed. The plan WAS for it to be a sequel, but it became a reboot, hence the Punisher was not played by Thomas Jane. War Zone is also a very distinct and different movie from the Thomas Jane movie.
Ghost Rider is such a classic. It literally doesn't matter how bad it is, if you saw it during "the right time" of your life? It's forever gonna be a special place held movie lol.
two words: lets ride
So true I loved it as a kid and still do
The first movie was so good because they didn't hide how Overpowered Ghost Rider is, every fight is just a mild annoyance to him which is probably more or less accurate to the character they portrayed
Yeah, the demon he's bonded to is like no 2 or 3 in hell's hierarchy Blackheart was fodder, and his minions even more so
That’s why he’s so hard to portray, it takes really good writing to get such an OP character and give him credible threats.
Lmao fr ghost rider was able to tank Thor’s attacks like they were nothing in one comic.
@@alexman378 maybe they could focus on Johnny living with Zarathos, like a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde situation
@@vincentadultman6226 he may be even above hell's hierarchy, judging by how he completely humiliated mephisto in his own realm and killed satan 666 times. Hell, he even killed Dr. Strange once. Ghost Rider is a powerhouse, who is sadly underutilized in the comics.
These movies have a special place in my heart.
Same here. I would always watch them with my dad when I was just a little kiddo. :)
As they do in mine

One of my favorite Marvel movies in terms of Nostalgia. I like it tbh.
The reason why the decay guy can eat a Twinkie is because he was holding plastic and we all know that plastic takes years to decay
Genius.never thought of that
Makes me wonder why he doesn't eat the twinkie first and then uses the wrapper to eat the rest, the first time I get that he would've not realized immediately, but after?
Good or bad Nic Cage is entertaining as hell in these movies. And like it or not, the scene where Ghost Rider is riding across the desert with the other Ghost Rider is one of the most metal things I've ever seen in my life.
something that makes the water bad guy even funnier: the "water" is probably lube. water usually doesnt stick or looks good in movies, so they often use lube as replacement. :)))
That is both funnier and more sad at the same time
Oh that is hilarious
Lube man
Why does he have to be evil? He'd be all the rage at the right ... orgies. I guess. What a waste of a power if it's lube!
Just imagine… „So you’ll be the water bad guy” „And I’ll be covered in water…. right?” „… uhm” „Oh god fucking dammit lube again?” „Yes.” „Shit.”
Fun Fact: The jelly bean martini was solely Nicholas Cages' idea, he wanted to add his own spin to the character to make it his own so he added that weird quirk, which is apparently something he himself does in real life and enjoys.
Alchohol gives him nightmares
That is such a Nic Cage thing to do.
hes a sober person. any movies hes in that would have smoking or drinking is replaced with candy or soda or whatver

the first ghost rider was still looking good. the second one just went so crazy its like the entire cast was high
As much as people make fun of these movies the scene when he turns into Ghost Rider for the first time actually scares me Everytime cuz with the special effects and Cage acting like he's losing his mind as Zarthos takes over him is horrifying to me.
Dude that moment where his voice goes from manic human screams straight to a demonic roar is the coolest part of the scene to me.
I await the day where Elvis is so popular as a Cage reviewer that Cage himself agrees to stand still in the background and make puns for an episode.
I dont think Elvis heart would be able to bear such happyness lmao
You joke, but that is actually some shit that Cage would probably agree to do. Elvis should ask him.
when he has to pay taxes again he might do it for 100 dollars
It wouldn't surprise me if that happened, Nick Cage seems enjoy doing dumb stuff
I REALLY want this to happen.. SO BAD.
When Nic Cage commits to a role, he *really* commits. And he was a Ghost Rider fan long before there was a film planned, so this may be the most committed he's ever been to a role. As much as I'd love to see GR back on screen, this is one of those cases where an actor owns a role so thoroughly that I can't think of anyone who could be a satisfying replacement.
Well, get ready. There is a rumor going around that Nicholas Cage will cameo as Ghost Rider in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. If it turns out to be true I will fully geek out
I loved nic cage before I even saw these movies but GR just made me love both the character and the actor
@@MH-zg5yw If that's true then I've got another Marvel movie to watch just because of a reprisal

The giant crane wheel scene in the sequel was so unnecessarily badass, i love it
Fun fact: Mephistopholes is the name of a demon in the German story Faust, where he gives a scholar named Faust magic powers, but then the good things he gained using those powers are taken away from him in one form or another. And yes, this is the origin of the phrase 'Faustian Bargain'.
Any relation to Faust from DC comics? Genuinely interested
@@Purgosmusic idk. I don’t read comics.
@@cheatcode436 Faust is a DC character that from my limited knowledge is a necromancer who promises to bring back Black Adam's wife if Adam does evil for him. I wish they would've made Black Adam have to face Faust cuz it would've made a way more interesting story. He has to choose between his wife and saving the world and right as he's about to make the choice Shazam fights him until they relies that Faust is real enemy and they team up.
@@Purgosmusic Yeah I think that the character is more in reference to Faustian bargains than Faust himself. I doubt that he has any relation with Mephistopholes. Plus, we don't know if these movies are canon to the comics.
@@cheatcode436 yea exactly the movie are not faithful to the comics really at all. Like for instance my biggest irritation is they never explored the fact that Mystique is Nightcrawler's biological mother. Caz that's a very important part of Nightcrawler's arc cuz it teaches him about forgiveness. Also, Batman absolutely doesn't kill people and neither Superman or Spiderman it is an absolute like resort for those characters in connon of the old cartoons and comics.

I watched the second film specifically for your cameo. Ah good memories.
@@notyourdaddude1957 thats cool
Ok that caught me off guard haha, nice you liked it here
12:20 This is my new greatest example of brainstorm/ green needle
About the sequel, the first bit, Ghost Rider wastes times with all that crap in the first battle to instill fear into the dudes there, he's a flaming skeleton come to take their souls. Sure it wastes time but it does illustrate that it's a more batshit insane Ghost Rider that's highly unpredictable and operates more like a horror monster than a dude with powers. The second bit, the grenades, it was some new stuff that sucked the oxygen out of the air so Kerrigan thought it would work on something made of fire. When he got hit by it he was doing that glitch-spin to just freak out the mercs there some more, it's all to show that he's just friggin insane. Third bit, he should've killed Kerrigan at the end of the battle but he throws him away instead since at the same moment he detects Danny's demon energy and goes to pursue him instead. After that, the bit about Kerrigan's powers, it's decay and darkness, that's why the background goes all black when he's killing people, it's his powers of darkness trapping them in a prison they perceive mentally but it does look kinda weird. Presumably he can eat the Twinkie since it's covered in plastic which isn't biodegradable and his powers works on organics and natural materials. Also, awesome video.
I love how him laughing during him turning into the Ghost Rider. That it’s like his laughing from the shock of the pain of him turning in to a skeleton that’s on fire. Because how Nick Cage is acting it looks like the transformation is extremely painful.
Because it is an unbelievable situation and he just makes it feel real. The best damn actor I reckon.
@@werebilbyj4449 yeah I love how in most roles he plays he puts like 110% in to the role, even if it’s a bad movie.
@@werebilbyj4449 The idea is that's the spirit of vengeance finally coming out. Nic is in pain but it's the ghost rider laughing.
I think it's because in the comics the ghost rider was originally an angel which was captured and tortured by the devil I think, but this torturing made the angel go insane and is now half demon and half angel, so him laughing and that probably has something to do with that, long story short
@@erickelly6810 that could be true. I personally think it’s both.
"He tells her he turns into a monster at night, later she sees a burning skeleton and immediately thinks that it's Johnny" Actually, that's logical. Occam's razor. Requires less assumptions than thinking a random monster shows up in the same day someone tells you that he turns into a monster. Plus, both the monster and the guy were crazy about riding bikes.
Also. The very same monster was looking right at her.
Yeah, even though he makes a lot of valid points, this guy tries just a little too hard to be funny in some places
also they both wear leather clothes
Exactly, i was thinking about that.. Glad you pointed it out..
@@persey7241 Yeah definitely true
If they make a reboot of ghost rider then don't have Nicholas cage then they should try to get Norman redus to be ghost rider

@@Happyfoam-lw3yt he can ride a motorcycle and is cool

22:33 I always assumed that the whole "mindless monster" business was because johnny repressed the rider for so long that he would just feed on any type of sin available.
I just want to point out that, in the jail scene, when the kid is the only one who didn't try to beat him up, Ghost Rider looks at the kid for a moment and says "iiinoocceeeeeent" and walks away

Fun fact: The jelly bean martini was Nic Cage's idea. If you've ever said "Nic Cage just plays Nic Cage," that scene should be on your list.
no but seriously, the fact that the cowboy ghost rider uses his last transformation to ride with cage to the place and then he just turns around and fucks off, has been bothering me ever since I saw this movie 57 years ago.
I may be wrong, but I think they ran out of budget on that one. They can't cgi two ghost riders fighting
They ran out of money lmao
I never actually saw the entirety of any ghost rider movie, and for some reason in my mind it never occured to me that those actually have a plot. My brain just went "flaming skull on a motocycle the movie" and i simply assumed that this is just that
Reminds me of one character from Twisted Metal games, at least one of them had a skeleton guy riding a motorcycle and shooting flaming skulls as his special weapon.
You must not be very observant

I think he could come out during the day because Danny gave him back the rider without a contract so he could use the rider as he pleases
this is probably not on purpose but i find it cool that the OG ghost rider is old and uses a horse while johnny is young and has a motorcycle so its him being the modern version since motorcycles are also known as steel horses
When they threw the flash bang and he spins around I like to think that the rider has a dark sense of humor and he was playing spin the bottle to see who he should kill
Knowing ghost riders sick sense of humor he probably did but he already knew who he's killing first

i've heard it at the past its like an disorder or something
I always held this movie higher in terms of quality entertainment than pretty much any other superhero movie. I thought Cage's performance made so much sense for the character. An immortal badass who is responsible for his father's death, stares danger in the face for a living, and isn't really human anymore would probably be a bit manic and unhinged compared to the rest of us. The romance is just meh since it's obligatory but uninteresting. The only thing I think they really missed out on was fleshing out the antagonists and San Benganza scenes; a lot of wasted potential
Modern superhero movies are just unwatchable for me, hope they stop milking them already
I’m honestly more of a fan of the modern iteration of Ghost Rider than Johnny Blaze GR. Both are cool but the current guy isn’t a caricature.

25:45 That scene was so cool tho, to see how such a being would react to something like a flashbang!
That army fight scene was bad ass, especially the flaming crane part. I wish we saw more of the older Ghost Rider. I agree with everything else Elvis said.
To be completely fair, that thing you said about Ghost Rider basically not caring that the entire world knows he exists is very comic book accurate from what I've read.
thank you mr howard
thank you mr howard
I know “it just works.”
"Drive Angry" is the 3rd "Ghost Rider". It's a Nic Cage movie in the style of "Logan", where he is an immortal badass who crawls out of hell with a hot rod to drive fast and save his daughter figure from an evil cult. Boobs, blood and bang-bang bonanza.
And "Raising Arizona" is clearly the prequel. Texx Cobb doesn't need a flaming skull to be Ghost Rider!
Let's hope he sees this comment
@Joe Rogaine And doesn't he feel like the enforcer the devil would send to keep tabs on the Ghost Rider? Who watches the watchmen? William Fichtner. Cause that's the way, aha aha, he likes it, aha aha.
Unfortunately amber Heard is in it so extremely hard to watch these days
I remember being absolutely heartbroken when I realised that the ghost rider was in fact the bad guy/anti-hero 😭😭
When he was spinning in the air after the flashbang, that was him playing "spin the bottle" with those mercenaries
Man, Ghost Rider could’ve been so SO good if Marvel made it. The animation on Ghost Rider’s head was impressive as shit imo
Nahh I assume its gonna end up like Elektra, its so boring its forgettable. Then again, Elektra of all people??
No point in making a 12a ghost rider
The second one is trash asf but the cgi for the skull and fire was on point, it was very impressive
1997's "Ghost Rider Resurrected" by Mark Texeira et Howard Mackie (collecting the 1990s stunning Marvel comic series) cannot be more highly recommended. Closest thing to your wish for now.
I agree Ghost Rider needs to be rated R.
Probably would never happen, but I'd actually love to see a ghost rider horror movie where are main protagonists are sinners that we follow as the audience and watch them get hunted down. With a sick horror director this would be an incredible spin on it i feel.
Damn it! Now I want something that will never happen!
I had the exact same idea for either a ghost rider movie or a punisher movie
Idk if that would work, cause it’d just be him hunting down humans, which would be kinda boring cause he doesn’t do anything gruesome to them just eats their souls. And plus the survivor would most likely be some criminal because it wouldn’t make sense for the ghost rider to chase an innocent. So we’d kinda want them to get caught. Plus, how would a simple human get away from this guy anyway? The whole movie would be extremely cliché and full of pure plot armour.
Great review dude, you called out every thought that I had whilst watching these bizarre films.
15:03 bro I swear the edits in elvis videos are god tier 🤣
LOL, that's some twilight zone bullshit: "Cancer gone, but father still killed." Edit: I know I saw this once, but forgot all of it. That's weirdly a well thought out ending kill. Especially for this type of movie.
I can't believe how insanely seriously i had taken the first movie back in 2007. Basically an oscar winning masterpiece.
What? That's hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣
Me too! I though this movie was so mature and intense as a kid lol
First time coming to watch a video from a new channel and immediately being bombarded with being sold clothes, that's one way to deter someone from your content.
26:22 actually that's his hell whip, How I know this? Remember the temple scene with ghost rider in this white void? He was literally regurgitating chains from his mouth.
