  • I’m thankful that you acknowledged how someone can be conflicted about having either a round or square face shape! When I was younger and very slim my face did look more square (though it was always fleshy) due to my very straight jawline. But as I’ve gotten older with more weight it looks rounder. I’m still conflicted sometimes, especially when I’m told they are opposite face shapes 😅

  • Thanks to you Chi I'm in the process of changing from bangs to side part. I took a photo of myself with bangs, then side part, what a difference. Someone else said have part over largest eye, draws attention there.

  • When I tie a high pony, my hair falls flat making my scalp look big, also I have a flat head with a round face. What hairstyles would you recommend? Or would you suggest any ways for high pony tails where my hair doesn’t fall flat on my head

  • I definitely have(had) a round face shape but as my jaw line has drooped lower and lower, I can wear voluminous curls again - that style makes me look younger (again). 🎉

    • As I’ve got older stick straight hair drags my face down and makes me look older even with a round face. I find curls below my chin helps.

    • Funny, I have round face and straight hair, and always thought (and was told) that I look better if I curl them. My straight hair is really flat so even side bangs look horrible (I'd have to attach extra hair for it to be somehow good), and because of that the whole focus is on my round face, as it's the most exposed no matter what. While with curls, they're so voluminous that your focus shifts a bit, and since it looks big, even your big face doesn't seem so huge and round anymore. Tho in defense of this vid, I've usually naturally left some of the curls in front, around my forehead and face as it was too short to tie it, so possibly the effect was also similar to having bangs.

  • When you have a round face and an afro 😂 Now I know why I prefer wearing my hair in a top bun and long faux locs or braids sometimes, but my natural curls will always defy gravity and be voluminous

  • Now, i could not disagree more than to wear you hair bone straight when your face is round. It actually amplifies the clash like a 1 standing next to à 0. Every hair stylists always told me the best it to have some mouvements in the hair, curls or waves and not too long ( because à round face is usually also short ) . The worst is long and straight , bangs are just awfull on anyone.

    • I totally agree with you. I also have a round face and I find wavy hair styles more complimentary. Straight hair right beside the round face only magnifies the difference.

  • I totally have a round face. But, I haven't changed my hair since I was 25: straight across bangs and anywhere from a chin length to waist length straight AF hair. I'm half Japanese, half Native American with fully asiatic hair that does not hold a curl at all and no matter what. I am currently having a breast cancer scare, biopsy is next week, and if I have to do chemo, it will be the first change to my hair in over 20 years! I look terrible in short hair. I had a pixie cut at the beginning of undergrad college. I just have too much face! But, you're right, Chi, a round cute face def makes you look younger! People still think I'm in my mid to late 20's. I think I look my age, but what does 47 actually look like?

    • It's really about how we carry and style ourselves that people seem to not figure out our ages. Some women are in their 50's or 60's but still they look younger because of how they carry themselves. ❤️

  • My mom always made me wear ponytail or very short hair because of my "fat" face. Only late in life did I discover that longer sleeker hair was a much better way to go.

  • If you are overweight. The best hairstyle would be any updos, be it ponytail or bun. Updos make face slimmer, in the opposite the hair down make face more rounder and just fatter.
