Scott Brady tests the most current Ram TRX for backcountry travel, only to find it one of the most comfortable rides of any 4wd we have evaluated. When combined with the (mental) 700+ hp and premium interior, the TRX becomes the ultimate Grand Touring pickup.

  • Great video Scott. I would have never considered a TRX for long distance travel. The issue with Ram outside the US. Is parts availability and support. The truck is built well but no parts make it difficult to keep and maintain.

  • That truck looks beautiful on the trail . I liked when it got a bit sideways on that left turn on the trail 🔥🔥🔥 Since I can’t afford a TRX YET . It makes me wanna make a super truck out of my lil Nissan frontier hahahaha . A great suspension and do a engine/ transmission swap would do the job for me 🔥🤤

    • What I also like better about my truck is that I can access parts for it ALMOST ANYWHERE IF I BREAK DOWN 😮‍💨🔥 I remember when the trx first came out They would sit at dealerships for a month or two (if not more waiting on parts )

  • none of the supertrucks are any good at grand touring. stupid low payload, stupid low tow rating.. so you cant take the 2000 lbs of stuff with you in the bed, and you cant tow it behind you. is it good on the trail? sure. great daytripper. But for touring? Better take a more reliable platform with higher payload and towing weights.

    • How do you define Grand Touring? We used the term in the traditional sense

    • @@ExpeditionPortal Off-road Grand Touring I would define as extended range off-grid travel, weeks worth of time and thousands of miles, for which you would need good economy, high payload or high towing capacity, extreme reliability and reasonable size. you can get away with the size thing for the most part, but as for the rest? you know the drill. None of the high HP supertrucks tick any of the boxes you would typically associate with "Touring" or "Overlanding". Are they very very fun trucks to take out to the trails and hammer on? of course. Do they have the capability of grand touring? not without serious modification. I would submit to you the power wagon being a better GT truck than the TRX, and the F250 tremor better than the Raptor.

    • @@Sandy_Seats I can't agree. I have one of these. I run with some overland guys. I can carry everything they can. I can go as far as they can. And I do it with sooooo much more comfort. I am not sure what angle Expedition Portal or you are coming from. Most people are using Gladiators and Tacoma size and types of vehicles for over landing and they have fairly equivalent payloads and the TRX has way more towing capacity. In my experience slow crawling kills MPG for any vehicle forcing people to carry extra fuel. So the ONLY real downside of using a TRX is its size. My solution was to wrap it.

  • I hate these trucks. Get one of these things coming down at you on single track and good luck finding a spot to pass.

    • This is an issue. I have been in these situations. Many times i have taken my truck to the edge of its rolling point to allow people to pass. Nothing more exciting than looking at the ground out the drivers window. I know many people would not do this. but i do.

  • 11 mpg bahahahahaha your using a talking point. NO my friend. On the trail you can get 10 if your lucky but 8 and 9 are more likely. I have used mine for over landing I carry one or two 14 gallon transfer tanks depending on the plans.

    • So you get 10 and we got 11 which is a marginal difference. What am I missing that resulted in the "NO my friend"?
