This is why tattoo artists need to practice on fake skin first!

Everyone starts somewhere, but if you're an artist at this level, practice on fake skin before tattooing people and have a mentor guide you. As a client, do your research on the artist before getting tattooed.

  • All the negative comments on the tattoo are absolutely justified, if an artists is not ready to do hands or big designs, they should just stick to small flash pieces or paper. permanently screwing up someone's hand or condemning them to an expensive cover-up/laser session is just wrong.

  • I actually comment a lot and i never see any ask for actual advice. Me and my girlfriend started tattooing after she got a machine for Christmas. I am well educated on the industry so of course its never been on a real person. But if on of us ever does move onto tattooing, what is the best area of the body for an apprentice to start on?

    • first person you should practice on is yourselves, and best area probably the thigh because it stays pretty much the same thickness across it unlike say a hand or the chest/ ribs where you'd have to keep changing needle depth to not blow out the line or cause bleeding. and is also easily hideable if worst comes to worst. hope that helps :)

  • First guy is up his own ass like a lot of the tattoo artists I’ve met and seen. Second dude, gave solid advice with a great attitude. 👍

    • How is he up his own ass? He's giving a real critique. He's also correct in everything he's saying. Just because someone gives you constrictive criticism in a tone that might upset you, doesn't mean they're attacking you. Or I should say them because it was about someone else not you. But you do seem personally offended on behalf of a stranger. Which is weird af. Harleys (idk if I spelled that right) an amazing artist with beautiful tattoos. I personally don't like black and grey most of the time but his personal work and the work on his body gives him mountains worth of knowledge that you don't have. He's a professional and your feelings are hurt for a stranger. Please put down your phone and grow up.
