Music video by The Verve performing Blue.
A storm in heaven is a masterpiece
Truth
For Collectors like me, it was Worth the Find
Totally. As was a northern soul. Although urban hymns was their big commercial success and their most famous/popular work it is also IMO the weakest album they produced... but even then it was still a great album as well.
Yes
So true. I love it
My daughter is the young girl in this video. I had not seen this video since then until last night. Another age, another life ago!
Increible.... ! excelente!! espero tenga buena vida !!
What does the song actually mean do u know ?
That’s amazing man. I hope she had a great childhood!
@@CD-xo5ju song about ecstasy (drug)
Are you sure???
I seriously don't understand why people do not listen to this band that much, they're fucking great dammit!
hey you... the verve is a treasure...its something unique for a few to apreciate...you can feel lucky for listening to this...IT WAS MADE FOR YOU!! enjoy :3
They aer fucking Great dam it I agree
This album is literally a drug
the whole concept they had in these era (verve ep/ a storm in heaven) is pure psychedelic bliss. the sonic landscapes, lyrics and even the video clips ( blue, all in the mind, she's a superstar, gravity grave, slide away) are flooded with these dreamy imagery. i honestly think urban hymns is fantastic and probably i would never knew this band if it wasn't for it... but man this era Veve was just something else.
Lucky Man
Lovethese guys
Today, Blue turned 30 years! What a masterpiece!
Verve finally getting the recognition is that their album "A Storm in Heaven" is their magnum opus, pure musical brilliance.
A Storm in Heaven was a milesstone. pure, pysychedlic, lusty, depressive, euphoric, free. The Verve never reached that level again.
aztec gold I totally agree. At their most atmospheric, blown out weed induced pure heaven.
+aztec gold I love this album but I like how they progressed with a Northern Soul. The sound got harder. This album reminds of soul searching in Sevilla. Should I stay etc...
That kind of music is rare to produce. I can go on and on about that album but you've worded it perfectly so I'll shut up and pay homage to it.
Spot on! Urban Hymns was good, but ASIH was truly great...... I still think of them as Verve.
Their best is A Northern Soul. But ASIH is super close. Well Verve have no bad songs, no bad albums so...
Stranded on an Island album. Storm in Heaven shaped me as a man. I’m forever grateful.
Really underrated band. The more i am discovering their music, the more i am getting to know what music really means
A storm in heaven is a masterpiece.
Miss this band. Great songwriting, great vocals, great guitar, great grooves. MUSICIANSHIP!
This album is a masterpiece, pure class
This band never ceased to amaze me! Their discography is pure gold - even their B-sides are bloody impressing!
A BAND THAT TAKES IT TO NEW HEIGHTS ! RIGHTEOUS !
Saw these guys at Lollapalooza ‘94 in Vegas. My favorite part of the show.
Me too!!
I seen them back then too, were they on the side stage? Thats what I remember. They were killer as we used to say!
Man, they were really into something very good at this point.
It was their first album, it's a masterpiece.
Yeah , it was called smack 😂😂😂
Was it fuck smack
This track wipes the floor with any track oasis has ever done......mindblowing track
sweetassugar69 Ooh controversial statement. I'm gonna sit on the fence on this one
Abdus Shahid I agree with you on this one... Oasis is not a bad band, and neither is the verve. In fact I’d say both are some of the best bands of the 20th century
Oasis are shit
@@MrShahid0072 yeh they must be cause ther the most talked about band ever about getting back together🙄
@@trickleteeth3425 just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. Oasis did make some really good songs but overall they never evolved much and had a formulaic approach to songwriting. They are not terrible but they are definitely not incredible either. They are a decent pop rock band with kinda good first two albums, followed by sheer mediocrity. That's just my opinion and it doesn't invalidate yours. The are not garbage as I wrote earlier.
This song reminds me of things that we don't usually see with our eyes, the news, the unexpected things, so far but so close to the everyday world.
Nice.
Like the frequency of the actual light wave (in Hz) is pretty interesting... 😮
Yes, this band accessed the real deep poetic truth ...
Band of my Life
Sandra Turner same!!!!!!
Sandra Turner same here 2017!:)
Sandra turner Same here in 2018😃
Yeah
Same! Urban Hymns my all time fav album
This is what magic sounds like 🎼🎼🎶❤️
I loved the early EPs and Storm In Heaven and A Northern Soul, after that when it went into Richard Ashcroft's ballad factory for Urban Hymns I tuned out. What I loved about them was the long jamming songs with Nick McCabe's guitar all over it, Gravity Grave, Butterfly.
Exactly the same here. I found urban hymns too commersial. Just didn't do it for me at all
I feel u
@@darrenlamb5640 Maybe, but Lucky Man is probably my fav Verve song.
Check out the live version of Come On 1997
Art in it's purest form.. The innocence of being completely lost in madness
Best song ever
The last part of this video was filmed in Thors cave. In Wetton mill. Staffordshire. Beautiful place.
Still addicted 27 years later take me home Richard!!!
simply one of the greatest albums ever made
@@FZ779 Yeah, Blue, I've got a question every time I swallow you Is a bit of a clue ask nick he's on twitter and he is a cool dude no blue tick there was an ecstasy pill called a bluey back in the good ol days best £20 I ever spent but for me it's all about Nick McCabe's production and the music
Agree
My favorite band and Richard is just beautiful here.
Star Sail, Slide Away and Blue. Lather, rinse, repeat. All day, every day.
We had Pink Floyd, Genesis, U2, and few more but not many and we have The Verve and they all have something in common they can take you to another galaxy
+javier daume Exactly , Especially when you are drugged.....
javier daume Fuck U2
Richard really suited long hair ;)
he suited youth
The first of verve I ever heard back in I think was 1991(ish)...it's one of those sounds that never leaves...simple but effective.... the days! 👍....I first listened to this via John Peel....I will never forget my surroundings of that time, that place!
The Verve created a real storm in paradise and in my soul!
heaven*
There you were on the floor cut up And all alone I'll help you Conceived in a chrome dream I was a crease In the shirt that this world wears Till I met Blue, I was in obscurity he said Loosen up who do you wanna be? We could steal a car and listen to the stars I can see you've choked on them too Had enough of late night films Just enough for an hour or two Oh Blue show me something new Oh Blue show me something new Blue, I've got a question every time I hold you Yeah, Blue, I've got a question every time I swallow you it's true Spike danced for 10 days long We were just heading for the sun You shot him down there's blood on my face His heart's in the right place What they gonna do to you What they gonna do Blue don't forget the word I warned you Oh Blue don't let them push you don't let them destroy you Meanwhile I'm searching with my brain blown eyes See the world through my dirty lonely mixed up mind
thanks for those

My favourite Verve song.

Space and Time for me
The Verve achieved a great sound on this one and the video is still one of the best ever ive I seen
When I found this album back then I was hooked. They played the side stage at a huge rock festival (forget which one) and none of my friends would come over to that side stage to watch them with me so I got all the way up front by myself and was in pure heaven. Loved these guys back then, great band!
Lollapalooza ??
This band and Suede were the best going around in Britain at that moment..
Man were they babies here. I remember having to special order this album at my local record store. Back in the dark ages.
There is this girl whom I loved many years back called Azul (Blue), and I can't stop but thinking this song is about her. Even the lyrics seem fitting. "Don't let them push you, don't let them destroy you". She was through difficult times back then and I couldn't figure out how to help her. I hope she's doing fine nowadays.
What is the meaning of blue in this song?
@@FZ779 the song about drugs (ecstasy) I read a lot of info about the meaning. In that time - ecstasy, was looking like a blue pill and members of The Verve was used drugs in that time. And this song is about ecstasy. (My opinion and a lot of info from Internet, I'm not sure that I'm right.)
@@amancalledsun92 i was still waiting for someone reply here you are thanks mate
I was with a girl called Danielle during most of the 90s and the verve was the soundtrack of our time together. Havent even caught a glimpse of her since 1999. Ended pretty bad. But a marriage and kids and a divorce later and i still often think of her. Wherever you are Nell hope its working out for you...
@@darrenlamb5640 Is she in touch with you now?
The best, just found original press vinyl, nothing like it.
What's with the ridiculous number of dislikes?!? Are people insane?????
yep.they don't understand good music!
VeronikaBoncheva they dont know REAL MUSIC💎
LIKE LIKE LIKE I love The Verve!!!!! 2018 LIKES
There are just some people in the world that would argue that shoegaze isn't music and condemn them.
Yes
Blue.. I've got a question every time I hold you 💙
‘Conceived in a chrome dream I was a crease in the shirt that this world wears’ …forget all Ashcrofts latter day solo ‘we can make it’ triteness…this is right up there with the best!
Here in late 2020, still the realest and last greatest rock and roll era...
los 90tas y su ultima decada del buen rock gracias doble 9
One of my favorite songs and favorite The Verve song.

Man, it's got some really good rhythm!
This vid gives me an eerie yet awesome feeling!!!!
out of the tortured souls of genius comes music...
Always loved this song. Had ‘she’s a superstar’ on 12” And then got the album. Hell of a debut. This and Slide Away … wowser
the verve always made great records, but a storm in heaven was mind bending
Amazing Tune 👏
my favorite Verve song, and it's never played!? really? They are brilliant!!
Amazing tune.
this video is friggin awesome...
This song played on the Canadian video music station Much Music in 1992? I had never heard anything like it. What an amazing piece of art this album was.
the early 90s had it all. best period for music period. all genre's from dance music, hip hop, and rock reached it's height. kids today can only imitate because everything was already done by the early 90s.
oh gawd they are all styled like all my cultures from all eras how can this be so nuts ?
Simply great.
Coolness personified
Amazing always & forever..
This song is like an instruction manual: He said “LOOSEN UP WHO DO YOU WANNA BE??”
I still love Richard Ashcroft and his new songs are not that bad, but I can't see this guy in his eyes anymore. It is just like real life. They changed because it is impossible to stay the same, no matter how hard you try. However, you can always go back to those times with music.
They changed because they were all so strung out and still hitting that they were coming apart physically and mentally. In their late twenties, early thirties. You can't keep up the drugs at that level for that length of time, and they are proof. Band literally imploded. Ashcroft's solo work doesn't hold a candle to this band.
THIS IS MUSIC yeahhhhhhhhhh MY FAVORITE MUSIC ROCK N ROLL THE VERVE IS THE BEST BAND of the decade 90´s
As he faced the sun he cast no shadow
Najboljiiiiiiiiii, best song ever......dis group is amazing:)))
