His music seems so simple, but it is really difficult to imitate.
don’t become inspired to sound like him, be inspired to make good music
@@hemlockhostel9006 You are right, but trying to imitate an artist helps you learn many things, and to value their work much more
not only do you listen to aphex twin, but you've also seen a clockwork orange? such taste!
Actually John Frusciante (of RHCP) made some electronic music and Aphex Twin was one of his main influences (by John's own admission)...check out his album Maya.
this is almost all off SAW 2 though. it's ambient music, meant to be simple but hypnotic and texturized enough it doesn't become tedious. then he also did stuff like Drukqs, Rushup Edge and Syro which is like the complete opposite of simple.
The problem with sleeping to this, is that you miss it
or do you?
haha. started listening to this, imagining i was with someone then fell asleep, laying down next to my pillow, imagining they were here next to me (don’t remember what song i fell asleep too). when i woke up i think it was at the beginning of blue calx. so, i sat there listening to the rest of this video holding my pillow still thinking of that person and i just hoped they had a good day and found a friend. i manifested that maybe i could talk to her again someday cause i’ve only talked to her a few times. and i just hope i find a friend outside of school that i can be with and love. this is a great mix to think about what i just talked about and other things obviously lol. thanks for reading if you read it. hope you have a great day and you have friends that love and care for you. :)
I have done exactly that, someone I saw at the local soup run, dunno if I'll ever see her again but hope so one day, my heart goes out to that soldier of life

same. i grew up listening to him, I remember a video on here that was an analord music video with alice in wonderland scenes. Sadly I think it got taken down, Hopefully i'll recover it one day
Years ago I used to listen to Stone in Focus hour after painful hour at work, every single day, slowed + reverb, in reverse, etc, just to avoid going insane with the tedious and monotonous life I was living. Music is really powerful and AFX got me through a lot.
❤
There's a long mix of Stone in Focus out there with a looped video of a monkey dozing in a hot spring. I used to play that (on proper studio headphones) behind my other windows at work and when I got up I'd leave it as the screen saver. It got me through some real long days.
@@scarlett.trillia I play that too when im working. Really helps me focus.
@@scarlett.trilliaThat’s the one I played too. Never got tired of it
How did you get away from the monotiny?
You know, this takes me back to the first time I listened to SAW II in it's entirety. I was up late, and I put it on as I was just in a (sort of) limbo state... I had insomnia at the time, and I wasn't eating very much... So my brain was in this very strange, sensitive state. Listening to this music, at 3 AM, so hungry I couldn't eat, so tired I couldn't sleep... existing in this half delusional state of consciousness... having borderline hallucinations while these sounds washed over me... It was an incredibly spiritual experience. I don't ever recommend compromising ones health in order to achieve such states, but there was something remarkable about how I heard the music that night... as if that was how it was intended to be heard. Is if, maybe, that is how Richard had made it himself....
he would sleep for like 1 hour every night when he was making SAW
@@kylewilfert1118 really?
@@te9591 yeah he talked about it in one of his interviews, he would also lucid dream to get ideas for his songs
@@kylewilfert1118 that's very Salvador Dali. I'd almost suggest IDM or Aphex Twin is the spiritual equivalent of Dalis surrealistic paintings translated to music.

if you're going to listen to this while you're trying to sleep i strongly recommend that prior to listening to it you click past all the yellow dots on the progress bar in order to trigger all the adverts... most of them only trigger innocuous pop ups but sometimes they trigger a more annoying advert that will wake you up.

My favorite one is Ruglen Holon to Just fall asleep.
This is one of my favorite ambient playlist/arrangements. Cant thank you enough for this
I love the way he can build off of a simple beat and make it something completely unique
this is by far the best aphex twin mix out there, I understand it'd be hard to make another one without repeating many tracks here so I second other people here, I encourage you to make some others from other artists. what a great work !
Just after 124:10 as it transitions from a humming silence to a relaxing piano melody. Idk what it is but i just love that transition so much. Reminds me of being in a mall as a kid and hearing that type of ambience with the tall ceilings and spacious architecture. Triggers my nostalgia to that dreamy memory every time.
Your sleep mix compilations are wonderful! Huge thanks for making our days warmer ;)
i remember i had such a bad sleep routine, id goto bed at 4-5 am but when id goto bed id put this on and skip to just fall asleep, listen to all of the mix from there and id drift to sleep like a baby, im having sleep issues again so im back to this, i love this mix so much and tysm for having this up for people to listen to, respect goes all out to you
THANK U ! Really, been waiting a lot for this one... you, sir, have an awesome taste for GREAT music
just found your channel, love both this and the burial sleep mix!
You really have a knack for this, mr. flames. Just fantastic stuff all round.
I'm quite new to aphex twin and I don't know much about him but God is this music the most beautiful. I hope I always have this emotional reaction to these songs in the future the way I do now and the serotonin produced doesn't deplete like a short high drug. Only when I listen to in later on in my life I can attach memories to it like how calm my life used to be and being in the god old days while I don't believe I am in them now I know that there is a certain bitter flavour in my life now that I will be craiving when I am older. To me now this music is just a talented painting but a plain canvas still and I will to see the art in its every dimension.

guys let me share with you my sleep experience I took a nap for 45 minutes listening to Aphex Twin's ambient mix It was a strange feeling. Like a dream, but without a "picture". Some kind of own reality was created inside the dream, its own laws. Under these conditions, thoughts arose that in ordinary life would have seemed absurd or simply ridiculous. But in my "dream" it was the norm. I don't remember exactly what I was thinking, but definitely about something "not earthly", not about my life or problems To give a more specific comparison, it was like a world in which everyone is people recovering from anesthesia and telling things

I can never decide if it's Rhubarb or Brian Eno -An Ending for best ambient track of all time.

Rhubarb, just because it's a bit more sad. An Ending feels like a relief while Rhubarb is more likely a "turn inside" and a more intimate experience.
