Sick part is I can play every single one of these notes. Just not in the same order or at the right time
Betty Pendegrast thanks for the valuable input. Merry Christmas ;-)
You'll get there brother. Blues is about making mistakes and finding your groove.
Good point. I also know many English words but can't put them together like Shakespeare. lol - Good luck to you, though, at least you are trying to get there.
lol,me too.
I could too, but it's more about keeping groove than playing the notes right or not.
I saw Buddy twice at the Iron Horse Cafe, a little bar/coffeshop in Northampton Mass. The restrooms were down the celler and so was the performer's dressing room. When I came out of the ladies' room there was Buddy in the dressing room, sitting on a couch, and warming up with his unplugged guitar. Course I went up to him - told him how much I love his music and admire him - and asked if could shake his hand. He said "Come over here babe and let me give you a great big Buddy Guy hug." and he did. His body was like a rock! Harder than any weight lifter. Later that evening I was sitting right by the stage, and when he did "Stormy Monday" I started singing along. He walked right over to me and said "There's a gal who knows what it is to sing the blues!" and he sang and played that whole song right to me, right in front of me. That performance is seared into my brain forever.
He sounds like such a nice guy.
Thats really cool
lol
He did the same to me, but the song was "When I Left Home". He gave the microphone to me and I rapped that part when it goes like "You know when I left home, I left the country..."
IndependantW that is a bad ass story!!!
I finally seen him on his fairwell tour in Baton Rouge I’m the one that screamed play that dame thing! And he said you just wait one fuckin minute and I will 😎 I’ll cherish the moment forever knowing my hero spoke back to me
Hahaha, that's rad.
This guy absolutely tears apart that guitar. You could play a thousand notes a minute and still not even touch the kind of sheer beauty that comes out of a guitar in the hands of a proper blues guitarist.
I've seen him about 8 times in Buffalo, great every time
To me he is simply the blues-god, from another star! Incredible perfomance how he plays his guitar, no match from nowhere, nobody in sight! I admire him very much, imagine that this guy turns soon 83! Wow....Chapeau Buddy Guy...
WEELLLL he ISS Buddy Guy.
Sing it sister.
Amen to that
Why did you start watching and couldn't stop watching and kept watching this video until the end ?
Ain’t anyone who compares. How blessed we are to have Buddy carrying on.
What a living legend, 86yrs young still Touring, rolling stones, Santana, Stevie Ray, Eric Clapton , all were inspired by this incredible man, may he live long days, GOD BLESS HIM
Certain videos should not have a dislike button
+Erik Ibarra I can't believe someone dislike this.
probably an accident … Buddy Guy is the one person on Earth everyone likes
189 bone heads disliked this. This Man is the GOAT!!
You should have to leave a reason why you dislike something.
@@paulgriffin6912 I can spain it to ya. #5.they are lacking good taste. #4.they like jazz only. #3.his talent proves to them they need a lot more practice. #2.he doesn't play just 1 chord or even use chords at all sometimes. #1. He cannot play at all without feeling & that makes them warm inside & they just want to hate so it makes them very very uncomfortable.
Who are the 520 people who put a thumbs down to this? This is some of the finest playing and singing that we as a human race have been blessed to witness. Thanks Buddy- for all you gave and continue to do. I'll never forget the times I had the pleasure to be in your company . Your wit and humbleness never ceased to amaze me and your talent and greatness never overshadowed your ability to relate to people, you are the finest example of what a true artist represents!
Cunts who dont like
Damn right.
Bonamassa?
I came across to this almost accidentally .. don't know why, but he started to sing, he made me cry and gave me a sense of relief. Got caught completely by surprise. The power of music is greater than we imagine.
GREAT COMMENT!! 👍❤
God Himself is in Buddy's music, capiche? He's the Why.
The first time I had the privilege of seeing Mr Guy in Chattanooga,TN- was the first time I didn’t move, clap,or barely breathe watching a musician! I was literally overwhelmed & mesmerized!!
He's got incredible soul in his playing. Not to mention how much fun it looks like he's having. This is everything I aspire to be as a musician.
Buddy always said “I want to play like BB but act like Guitar Slim” and he does every time he plays!
@@johnfurlich5157m m I ok ghh I 66
I'm 15 and my favourite genres to play are blues and classic rock! and I hope to one day pass this on to my future kids! Gotta keep the blues alive!
Ur 23 now :)
I’m 18 and there are two things we need to keep alive, internal combustion cars (especially classics) and the Blues!
no one cares asswipe
Buddy says more with a few bends than most bluesmen could hope for. The blues isn't about speed. It's about feeling. Buddy knows how to bring it out. I have no doubt he has forgot more than I will ever learn!
for SRV, His feeling is too fast to be slow.
I heard he taught Jimmy hendrix
I can hear Buddy Guy play 2 notes and I instantly know it's him. His style is like no other. A Blues living legend.
It's similar with stevie ray alot of thoes players have such a playing style you can easily tell
There's something about blues that puts your body & soul to ease.
Well we need a lot of that right now in this country. Play away brother.
amen to that brother
Look at this, the guitar is part of his body, i mean, he plays the guitar like he talks or simply breathes. This man is a god...
Just saw him live and it really was amazing. Glad to see he's still rippin it
We are seeing him tonight at the Hollywood Bowl. Can't wait!
Saw him 4 years ago. It was fantastic!!!
A very Happy 85th Birthday George "Buddy" Guy. July 30, 1936 Lettsworth, Louisiana. Truly a.. Living Blues Legend.. Many, many more George.. Long live the Blues.
I don't care how fast you can play. If there is no soul and passion its just noise. Buddy Guy has everything.
I guess that's why I can't appreciate genres that end in "core" (all 264 of them, which are unnecessary to separate, since they are indistinguishable).
2:16 is the like one of the most bad ass moves I've seen so far.
You're damn right!
+Jack the Dipper Agree!
like how did he do that
+Finkardop It's Buddy Guy you just don't question
are u kidding
So much of the new generation doesn't listen to good music. I'm the new generation and I love Clapton, Buddy Guy, Srv, Bonamassa, Muddy Watters,B.B. King and more.
Good for you
Few other guitarists in the world have the ability and sensitivity to "pull the note" like Mr Buddy Guy!
I love how you can watch him feel the music, absolute beast on the guitar
I was 17 at the time I watched this for the first time. This was one of the biggest reason my first guitar was a Strat. I'm 28 now, and this brings back very good memories
I heard this on a radio station in Chicago earlier today and I was thoroughly impressed with with this first time hearing it so I had to look it up on KZhead to hear the Whole Song with what I missed on the radio station earlier and I’m Not Disappointed At All ! Great Job from A Fabulous Man Who Knows How To Play A Guitar 🎸 Amen 🙏
Damn Right Ive got the Blues!Buddy Guy playing on my birthday & I cant afford the ticket price.Sob!!
Was watching The Who, then the interview Led Zeppelin did with Letterman-JPJ said Buddy Guy was a huge inspo-He and Beck listening to it on vinyl-so I came straight away AND WHOO-Didn’t know listening to the blues while havin’ the blues could feel so damn GOOD… 🖤🎶🎸 🎶🖤
Smiles, how are you doing Nicole?
I’ve shaken this great man’s hand and I’m also lucky to have his autograph.
Aside from his guitar skills, Buddy can throw one if his triangular guitar picks like a Ninja! He threw one to me from 30 feet away and it hit the hand I was holding up! He grinned from ear to ear as did l.
Blues is dead. Bring it back pleaseeeee. Music is nothing now. I have to listen to older stuff cause the new stuff is so bad. I would give my right leg to bring back music like this.
I'am french women! but I love this music! I love blues!💖💚❤️💜💙💞💛💓
Long time ago some journalist asked Jimi Hendrix how does it feel to be a greatest guitarist of al time. He's answered: I dunno ask Buddy Guy
Buddy Guy was Hendrix Idol!
I think it's still true today
Haha look up Rory Gallagher. That saying is all over his videos.
He also said Billy Gibbons was better than him.
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!
Anyone can play the notes if you practice enough. The thing is do you have the Soul In You ??? Love Buddy. Great man, great player
Yo who ever disliked this I will hunt you down and show you why many people appreciate this and hopefully change your perspective. And if if you fail to see my point I will politely understand your opinoin
It's plain to see why bluesman Buddy Guy is a 7 time Grammy award-winner a 37 time blues Award winner a Kennedy Honor award and he also holds a medal for the Performing Arts and Buddy Guy thank you for the autograph you are a true legend when it comes to the Blues🎼🎸🇺🇸
The Last great Blues man left! RIP BB!
Clapton
This cannot be learned from any book or tutor .This guitar playing cones from the soul..awesome
Sometimes I think that this man is the only reason I wake up in the morning.
Almost 40 years ago now, I walked out of a show in a relatively small club where Buddy opened for Rory Gallagher. Ashamed to say it, I didn’t get The Blues. Big regret now that I do. Two legends and my dumb ass didn’t appreciate it. I even played guitar. To me they were playing some stuff to start a song and in short order were Wayy up the neck Screeching high notes. Repeat. While that’s true to a point. It’s so much more. I’m starting my grandson off with the blues. Nuff said. 🤙🤙
Amazing mastery. Buddy Guy is one in a billion people. No doubt. A true master of the Blues.
He learned from the best
@@legendofgood4278 who?
Who the hell would dislike this?! Buddy Guy is a legend!
Just saw him a couple weeks ago. What a show!
The Blues power that can make you sad and happy at the same time, how is that possible?
He feels every single note he plays. And that’s what’s missing today. Soul. And damn, did he have soul.
He still got it
One hell of a musician and performer. He's got more soul than is legal!!
Hi there... how are you doing? Happy new year 🎊🎆 with good health and prosperity
Nobody, and I mean nobody, bends strings or has a vibrato like Buddy Guy. Nobody! The second you hear it, you know it’s him. That tone though!
Hang in there Buddy. I know you lost a GREAT friend when the Blues Boy moved on...R.I.P. B.B. King. Coming to see you with the wife in September, she went with me to see you in 2008, I told her this old man is the Greatest Blues Player to Ever Live! For once in 10 years she didn't argue with me.... miracles do happen...
I never heard any blues. I just felt them
In 96 my sis & I flew to Chicago for the night & went straight to Buddy's club.. As I walked out of the bathroom there stood Buddy 😱... We talked for 30 mins & when he learned we flew in just to visit his club - he sat us in V.I.P ❤ It was a great evening!
Hi there.. how are you doing? Happy new year 🎆🎈🎊 with good health and prosperity
Some souls in life comes and goes to never come back.......the people who thumbed down this video have no soul.
This is why I started playing guitar 30 years ago I heard Buddy Guy, Jimmy Hendrix, Albert King, SRV and BB King and was hooked ever since IF YOU CAN'T FEEL THIS CHECK YOUR PULSE YOU COULD BE DEAD. LOL
Passion, the one thing modern artists are losing
and musical talent...
Lachlan Jansen Edgy. Go and take a look at Kanye, Lamar and co and tell me they don't have any talent.
AMEN
If you really believe that you're looking in all the wrong places, friend.
it is not the artists that lack talent.. but the music industry doesn't let them show their talent anymore.. only singers are allowed to show their talent.. musicians behind them must stay calm :(
I love how you can tell how passionate he is about guitar, he doesn't care if hes performing for 20 people or tens of thousands of people. he gets up on stage and does what he loves and theres not much else to it.
I'm 12 and there's nothing that hits the soul like this.
nobody cares about your age
+Adam Kendall just listen and enjoy 👍✌
How can anyone one in their right mind dislike this !!!!!
tbh its a bit rough, his playing has always been like that. i understand if someones doesn't enjoy it. he often bends off pitch but he compensates with the amount of soul and passion he puts into his guitar playing.
I am a metal fan that thinks buddy is a bad ass love it
There would be no guitar as it is today without Buddy. Including in metal.
Same here! What's your fav? Potassium or Sodium or Calcium?
I was listening to Chicago's The Drive radio this morning and they were talking about an interview with Jimmy Page. Jimmy said he remembered back in February of 1965, when he and Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck slept in a car all night outside a blues joint, just waiting to see Buddy Guy play the next day. Then, they had Buddy Guy on the air, LIVE! :)
Buddy was one of the very few who stayed true to the blues. He wasn,t going to water down his playing to get radio friendly that's why he never got the attention or fame he deserved
Why I consider buddy guy the best bluesman, he doesn't care about anything or anybody, he's just having fun, it's almost like he's playing home alone.
Nothing this man does surprises me. He's kept the blues alive for years.
It's sad to know that Buddy could walk through Guitar Center Hollywood by himself and not be known by many young Fender guitar enthusiasts. He was one the very first guitarists EVER to take a Stratocaster on tour before anyone had even heard of them. BB King also was on of the first to use a Fender Esquire. I hope these things are never completely forgotten. There is more to life than John Mayer playing a Strat
Yep KO Bossy like SRV shreddin.. Buddy Guy is legend!
Saw buddy guy in person along with BB King and it was a night to remember, great blues music 😊
What kind of person presses the dislike button for this kind of art?
If I walked into guitar center and buddy guy was just casually having a concert I’d poop my pants 😂
Haha! Ang Buddy would hold his nose and run away))
"I've been foolin' with it for quite a while and there's still a lot I don't know about the guitar." #HappyBirthday Blues Legend Buddy Guy! #borntoplayguitar
One never stops the learning !!! This music I just love
He's definitely one of the best.
I agree he's an awesome in my book !!! ,
Buddy Guy is brilliant!
Awesome !!!
Buddy Guy can play, feel, smell, taste the blues damn. That’s some good shit
Buddy Guy is always my blues go to.
He makes that guitar talk better than any live person!
I’ve seen Buddy Guy 4 times, each time he gets better, I call him “Mr.Entertainment”
It's been said that at 84 (in 2020) he's the last of the senior blues players. After his passing, nobody...just great imitators, which we will still need and enjoy.
Jimi Hendrix was a Buddy Guy fan, me too.
buddy is a show you will never forget. I have seen him myself and I can vouch he is a true showman
I'm from India and I really want buddy guy to do a show in India! Please Buddy guy if you reading my comment. Please come to my hometown and have a show! Me and my friends will buy the front row tickets! I love playing your songs on my guitar 🙏🙏
@Eric Smith yeah man, all my heros like BB king, Jimi Hendrix, many more aren't anymore in the world and I can't attend there live shows but I really want to watch Buddy Guy live shows
@Eric Smith lucky man👍👍
We love you man. You are the greatest. God bless you. Mother Russia
Good heavens, how many ways can I say this is one of the greatest musicians/performers, EVER! Buddy Guy, you ARE the music. Thanks for sharing.
Buddy Guy Is the blues. He's is the greatness guitarist . He's Just as good as Hendrix, Stevie Ray. He's can show others how to play.
After BB left us. Buddy is one of the Old Breed left.
The last man standing if you will
Now that BB is gone, this is our true BLUES MASTER!! This man has more soul in his pinky than all the other blues players around!
Thank you Buddy, for a lifetime of blues.
This is the blues man. It's not about accuracy or clean technique. It's an expression of how the player feels as he plays and Buddy's got an infectious style of playing the blues.
I saw Buddy when he came to Milan, Italy for a small tour, around 2002 or 2003. Probably during the Lugano jazz festival in Switzerland. He was mind blowing!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Okay, but can we all agree that Buddy's shirt is bad ass man
BUDDY GUY..when he playing the guitar he pulls the audiences into his SOUL... BUDDY is that GREAT!!❤❤
2:00 only a genius can solo while scratching his arse
Hahaha
Well i can scratch my tucus. Hebrew for but and plau my harmonica 😎
I saw Buddy Guy and Robert Cray guest in a Clapton residency at The Royal Albert Hall London When they were performing Clapton retired to the backing band Very sensible They were brilliant
Great Showman too. I LOVE THIS GUY
What a LEGEND!. Absolutely brilliant.
Just discovered this guy at age 31, maybe I'm missing something, but he seems sorely underappreciated. We wouldn't have artists like Hendrix if it wasn't for Buddy Guy! One of the few celebrities I'd love to meet, seems like a super down to earth guy with some amazing stories to tell.
Thought I had seen every Buddy Gut video worth seeing on KZhead. I was wrong! Not sure how I missed this one but I'm glad I found it!
Some artists came from another planet. Buddy Guy is one of them.
I can see why he was one of Jimi's favorite blues men1
Yes, and Hendrix at some point spoke to how much he owed to Buddy Guy.
thomas scoot was just going to say the same thing. That’s right. Jimi got a lot of his ideas and moves from buddy.
Buddy has so much control... draws you in and continues to tell the story of emotion through that bad ass fender of his... unbelievable ... such a master
He murders those scales with ease!! Some people are just born to do certian things......
My brother just saw Buddy perform- he's in his 80s!
Always love Buddy's playing! Buddy is a natural comedian too :) Highly entertaining!
My uncle had me listening to the great blues men when I was a little girl I didn't appreciate music like this then I was more interested in 80's rap n rock music but now that I'm older like 38 I appreciate this music now I definitely see mr Guy's influence on rock musicians. This to me is real music I have my children listen to this music all the time my son says he wants to learn guitar because of this song thank you mr guy for keeping the blues alive
+Chloe Moore Yes ! And the live records where you can hear the crowd laughting, shouting, are the best ones ! There's an ambiance to it !
Some musicians/artists are timeless, Buddy and alot of the old Bluesmen are great examples
blues is felling
I hope you get that boy a guitar. It'll be a gift he'll never forget. I can never thank my parents enough for paying for guitars and music lessons. My 10 year old mind was changed forever and I still play 12 years later.
The best/ Greatest guitarist ever!!..if u disagree with me your too young to understand
Seen Buddy last month in Spokane , Damn right he still has the chops!!
That crowd looks emotionless - I would be losing my shit.
+Shayne_McGuire yea I don't understand. I even got sweaty palms just by watching the video
Shayne_McGuire they're listening
Sensory overload !!
The whole point if listening to a great player is to... well listen! Not gyrate etc. I've cooked dinners listening to the blues and not dreaded anyone coming into the kitchen in case, knives 'n all! And the dinners tasted great by the way!
