    • If I'm not mistaken, bmthey weren't actually trying to make a functional unit. The drywall is a prop set up so he can show viewers how to install the socket correctly.

  • Those kind of outlet are shitty and end up pulling out the drywall real easily, attach your outlets to studs like there supposed to be to avoid major headaches

    • I'm a contractor and I have seen hundreds upon hundreds of them pulled out of the wall by accident you in your personal life may have had good luck with them but that doesnt mean that they aren't shit!! everyone is entitled to there opinion but that doesnt make you right !!!

    • Nor does yours, I'm a telecoms engineer in the uk, 90% of phone sockets in modern houses in the UK use this style of back box or a variation with sliding rather than winged sides. I see more metal socket cages loose behind walls than I do these pulling through plasterboard.

  • What a great tip. Use a spirit level and cut straight.... genius! Good thing he bought the bubbles for that level, wouldn't have worked otherwise. Hope he's going to use some tartan paint for that wall. I'm sure the store gave a bonus long-weight for free

  • Start your hole from the center and then go horizontally to each side, then go up or down one side, and then across back to the middle. This way you're removing the drywall in quarters, in case you hit wood, and need to move the location. Less of a patch needed to fix the bad hole.

  • Not an electrician, but I feel like the real difficulty is dropping the line in the same wall pocket as the hole you cut.

    • If you can you cut the holes and pull the line before the second side of the wall even is put up. If not you fasten it to the drywall framing in the closest possible proximity and use some kind of hook to get it through your hole.

  • You forgot to wire that. Also if you could cut it with a box cutter the whole time why wouldn't you just use that? Instead you used 3 diff tools for one cut out... I would tell you never do that again if you were my apprentice.
