Congrats to Rublev!!! He fought like hell and won.
He could have done it in 2 sets.
@@farrinlavar Yes! But he was not playing with a wall, he was playing with another player. Rafael Nadal in this case. The fact that Andrey lost the second set and had the power to stay like this in game and win the last set 6-2 say a lot about how strong mentally was. Rafa never let you win easy. 👍
Thanks for explaining the obvious sherlock, any other pearls of wisdom you have do the world a favour and keep it to yourself
Rublev probably has the perfect balance between being both exceptional at what he does and a meme. Rafa my all time fav but what a win from the BWEEEHH
I did not know, that Andrej and the BWEEEHH (perfect Band name btw) were a meme until now, but it just makes so much sense
I love Ruuds forehand, it looks so cool and has power, depth and spin
He actually produced more topspin than Nadal in the previous round! If I remember correctly, Ruud had 43rps VS. Nadal's 40. Insane numbers considering Nadal is known for his extreme topspin.

I believe we can't really /truly understand what this victory means to Andrey. This young man was growing up playing tennis and thinking/dreaming to be like his idol. And today he beat him. On clay! Not many people have this moment. Congratulation to Andrey!
I think this win will be a catalyst for him to believe he can beat anyone. He stayed so calm & focused today.
@@cswong6102 Same happened in the last game, the one with RBA. So many comebacks from Andrey. He really stayed focus... Couldn’t believe it when I saw the score ! Amazing match from Rublev, Nadal will come back stronger !
Scared for lovely bweeh against ruud tomorrow. Rub had 2 long and hard matches, hoping he is not too tired
Lead in 2nd set and than he lost 2nd set.. And than after lost 2nd set he won the 3rd set and match ..it's incredible against rafeal nadal ... Rublev show he is so strong mentally 👍
First of all as a Rafa fan I'd like to say Rublev was just playing on another level today...I mean he was everywhere. He was getting each and every ball back into play. Shots which would've been winners on a normal day were put back into play constantly by the mighty Bweeh!!! That being said, Rafa was struggling with his serve from the very first game of the match. Don't know what happened all of a sudden?! He was serving alright I thought before this match. Anyways...I'm happy that he didn't go down without a fight. The way he won that second set after almost being broken twice was just out of this world. But then again his serve was gone from the very first game of the third set and it never came back. All in all I'd say the big 3 have started showing signs of ageing. Roger is almost done. Novak has got 4-5 more slams in him I think and Nadal has a couple of more FO left in him. That's it I guess sadly. Today Rublev was outmuscleing Nadal constantly over the longer rallies as he should be tbh after all he's 11 years younger. But as I said Rafa fought brilliantly in the second set. Well Barcelona's next...hope he'll be back with everything he's got. Lastly, All the best to Rublev. I hope this win would help build his confidence even more and push him even higher through the rankings!! All the best for the semis.
Well said, as a Rafa Fan you have a very objective opinion:-) let s see what will happen... I am a Djokovic Fan and he surprised me at the final on AO, he was so dominant, I didn’t expect it. But honestly, on clay he will surprise me much more if he reaches the final... The chance to win FO with his actual ability on clay is in my opinion very small. On clay you need exactly the power in forehands that rublev shows today. And that is what nole doesn’t have anymore. But who knows maybe he will bring up a strategy that is successful. We will see. Rafa will be motivated like a torero as usual with his play but honestly, with his play he will pay tribute. It’s too powerful, slidding (knees) shoulder for his spin forehand etc etc.
Rafa will still be winning Roland Garros until he's 40, Federer hasn't come back at the level needed to play the game, he needs matches under his belt - which will involve losses- to play himself into form. Djoko is constantly looking to improve, and will likely work on his offensive capabilities so he can break Evans gamestyle next time.
but you are right, they are ageing, the time of dominance is almost over * except for Djokovic who is still only 33
Calm down Both Rafa and nole were playing for the first time after aus open You would expect some rust They will get better in the coming weeks And as nole said he wants to peak at RG At this point of his career it doesn't matter if he doesn't win in m1000 events cause the priority is GS

@@OM-ns9ln he did the same after beating Novak yesterday and didn’t seem to affect him too much against Goffin
No way he beats Tsitsipas. Way too much fire power for evans defense capacity. Goffin should have won but he is a massive choker. He saw Djoker out of his side of the draw and panicked.
Evans will need a miracle overnight recovery, he was holding his leg at the end of Goffin match. He needs a day off to be Tsitsipas who has not really been tested

And Rublev joins the pantheon of great players to beat Nadal on clay. There's still less than 20 of them. Edit: Comments have informed me that Rublev is the 26th man to defeat Nadal on clay. Still a terrifyingly good achievement and an illustrious club to be a part of, especially considering the volume of matches Nadal has played on clay (nearly 500) and his win percentage of 90+%.
Only 4 in a final. Djokovic Murray Federer Zeballos
No I don't think you're quite right if I may say so. Recently I saw a page which stated that 23 different players have beaten Federer on grass (it gave the list of players) and 23 different players have beaten Nadal on clay ( it gave that list of players too). So I think Rublev has become the 24th.
@@martydav9475 There are many more tournaments on clay, and even a couple of masters, than on grass, so chances of losing a match on clay are much higher, therefore Nadal's stat is more impressive than Federer's.

Beating Djokovic at the AO is more difficult than beating Nadal in a best of three clay tournament. Beating Nadal at Roland Garros is definitely the toughest tho.
Last year Diego beat Nadal in Rome and you see what happen in RG? Nadal Schooled Diego and Nole too in Final, maybe the others players can beat Nadal in Clay but in RG nah i don't think so man.
Tennis TV has single-handedly got me following pro tennis again. I skipped all but the late rounds of slams for the past 5 or so years. Now I'm watching almost daily.
Impressive how Rublev praises Nadal for playing consistently well under huge pressure of being the King of Clay. May a Grand Slam be on the cards for Rublev in 2021! Awesome tennis by Bweeeeh!
the only players he struggles with beating are bautista agut which he just beat, medvedev who hes never beaten and dan evans who just beat djoko. the day he figures out how to beat medvedev especially is the moment he will be able to win a grandslam
Very well done Andrey! Very very impressive victory. Truly deserved.

When I can watch players like Evans I’m just happy: beautiful unconventional tennis; something different but still with great results 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
just have to say "Wow Rublev". But again, think about it. It takes sooo much to beat even an almost 35 year old Rafa on Clay. The way Rafa broke in 2nd set was amazing. Hats off to Rublev though. He fought hard and won on clay which is like impossible against Nadal.
True...I don't know what happened...it's not like pressure got to him or something. He was struggling from game 1. Got broken the very first game of all three sets. Also what was up with the unforced errors? Like Rublev didn't even had to do much in the first set. It was sort of like how Dimitrov self destructed yesterday. But I'm glad he fought back in the second despite struggling so damn badly with his serve.
There, typical. When Rafa loses, all the excuses come out. Even the praise for the opponent is a backhanded compliment.

@@xuntang1969 Nadal didn’t look old at all. He just didn’t look sharp. A lot of bad unforced errors and double faults, even in the first set. He said himself energy was not the problem. Not a concerning loss at all. You probably said he looked old during his 3 clay court losses in 2019 too right?
@@SJ-di5zu well he looked a bit old running to his forehand side when rublev hit a crosscourt backhand, but that’s not really new. Think he lost 1-2 steps after 2018 USO injury. Surprised no one is talking about Rafa's level. It was like Dimitrov rubbed off on him. Rafa has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and Rublev has been my next-gen guy since I first saw him play 5 years ago, so I was super hyped about this match. Hi...Rub...its a great tennis and an amazing win.
I love Nole, Rafa, and Roger rivalry in tennis, but monte carlo shows us, it's time for nextgen to take over their era.
Because Rafa, Nole, and Roger in their age, they have started to 'picky' which tournaments to participate in, so it's no wonder they didn't take part in any tournaments after AO. They prefer Grand Slam and tournament that they have chance to win. Last year federer almost didn't participate in clay because it give less chance for him to be champ there.

Oh my holy God. Even though rafa lost, that point at 1:41 was insane. Rafa pulled out the matador and went PRIME mode in that point. What a get man. Especially since the smasher was rublev in the point. That's insane that he can still show us that type of speed from time to time at his age. What a legend. Either way, he'll get back into it I'm sure. This was a good test for him.
It’s not about speed , it’s call a cheat in tennis ,which means he had read his opponent and as you can see he already started running before Rublev smashed the ball . His speed for getting to the first FH is more impressive , and Rublev didn’t take advantage to the short ball to hit it high in the air , it won’t happen if he is a more decent volleyer .
And we have the most equal final we could get, i'm cheering for Tsitsi, but i hope to see a great match afterall.
