you could theoretically make the farm 9x faster by having 72 piglins, then swapping out the dropper for an autocrafter, which can take an input of gold blocks and output 9 ingots at a time

Two problems with that: 1) He'd have to make it automated instead of a manual transfer. 😆 2) There aren't 72 Hermits. 😉

Not worth it with the current setup. Running the setup for one minute would require well over a stack of gold blocks and output way more items than the filters can handle.
He could just make it nine piglins, and only trigger the crafter once per clock cycle.
I can’t wait till our boi rendog finds his new identity for this season if not the king, or administrator. We all know ren should be in charge of everything but how. Perhaps rendog mob boss next where you start illegal shops in sewers and back alleys seeing the permit office is the dmv. A rendog taking advantage in a time like prohibition. Think about it!

Yeah I'd say automatically crafting it into ingots and giving them to the piglins would be better. Maybe even split the gold blocks if he wants gold as well
If he added one more piglin, he could have just changed the 8x dropper to a crafter that would uncraft gold blocks into 9 ingots right on top of their heads.

As a mail carrier, I’ve had customers send themselves letters to make sure their mail is forwarding correctly so it definitely happens. There are other reasons but that’s the most common.
Mailing a letter to yourself can be quite useful! For example, it's a great way to protect intellectual property: write down your idea, seal it in an envelope, mail to yourself, and you now have dated proof of when you first thought of it in case you ever have to defend against someone stealing your idea in court.

As an upgrade to your bartering system, you could hook up the goldfarm to an autocrafter to convert back into ingots and feed the piglins. If it's off you collect gold blocks, if it's on you run the bartering system.

Personally I would split the gold farm output in half. Half to gold block storage and half to ingots straight into the bartering so it runs all the time it's switched on.
Heh, I liked the entire interaction with Pearl about the mail system :) It was so dynamic and nice, it was true Hermitcraft. Also, I always mail myself a postcard, when I'm on vacation somewhere. I have a "travel-wall" with postcards from all the places I've visited :)
Fun fact ren: mailing to yourself is a way that like inventors can use to prove date of invention for patent reasons, because they can mail themselves the design. The post office will take it to the office, post mark it which includes a date, and return it to your home.
Ren, there's a concept in the US where a person creates a "poor man's patent". They mail themselves their plans and schematics, but never open them. If someone else creates the same invention, they have a postmarked "proof" that they thought of it first. I don't know how often this has been used in court, but it is relatively common knowledge for inventors.

The 8 pulse dispenser can be made redundant. Add one more piglin. Replace dispenser with a crafter, uncrafting the gold blocks into ingots. It will spit out 9 ingots with one pulse to 9 piglins. Then you can wire the output from down below directly into the crafter up top. Done right one person will then be able to run the piglin farm afk
to answer your question ren, (at least in the U.S.) the local post only collects the outgoing mail, and sends it to a central/regional "hub." After the mail is sorted it gets sent to it's destination. In fact, sending yourself something in the mail is a viable way to "hide" something for a few days.

Awesome farm, I have loot envy! Final automation addition would be an optional auto feeding the gold to the piglins - with an on/off switch to allow the farm to just accumulate the gold. Just sit back afk, and let the hard work pay off!

No, you don't need 80 of each item to set up the filter system. You only need the filler items (renamed sticks or whatever). Each item passing through will "program" the hoppers automatically. If you care about which hoppers handle which items, you can just move the items around as you like, as long as each hopper has 1. The chests won't start getting items until the hoppers are filled up to the right level.
You could enter business with mumbo, he needs iron and gold for his diamond permit as well as leather for his lag (item frame) permit

Not to be that guy, but this farm was a missed opportunity 😭. Now that auto crafters are a thing, Ren could have just used 9 piglins instead of 8 and then used an auto crafter to dispense 9 ingots in a single pulse at the start of the cycle. That way the bottom crafts all the ingots to blocks and that's still useful because it then uses those blocks to feed the piglins 9 ingots. Hearing those 8 ticks at the top, and watching ren manually craft it back makes me a little sad. Ren! If you see this! Please! Just pipe the blocks all the way to the piglins and setup an autocrafter where your dispenser is and pulse it just once every time your hopper clock fires. Also add 1 more piglins. Thanks Ren! Or at least, thanks if you see this and make that change. If you don't, then I guess just thanks for the episode lol.
Hey Ren! Are you eventually going to hook the gold up to automatically feed the bartering system? You could have a crafter turning the blocks back into ingots, and feeding them into the input chest of the bartering system!

It's basically just a 3x3 glass column as tall as you want with a dispenser in the middle at the bottom. When the dispenser fires, it will all get up eventually

Ren, in Germany it is normal practice to send post mail to yourself to secure your copyright. A mail stamp is an official registration (and proof) of time. So, to answer your question: Yes, this done a lot.

When thieves break into businesses they will sometimes mail their ill-gotten good to themselves. This allows them to literally walk out of the building without anything on them. However, if their parcels are discovered then the authorities have their home address and all the evidence they need to prosecute them for the crime.
With the autocrafter it can be all automated, if you want you can adjust where the gold blocks endup and replace the dropper that feeds the ingots to the piglins with an autocrafter that will dispense automatically the gold ingots. (still keep some doublechests in the chain as a buffer for the blocks)

In the US, people mail themselves all the time, especially signed and sealed documents, as it provided a government-issued datestamp.

Everytime I see a Piglin Bartering farm in Java it makes me wonder why they haven't added instant trades like Bedrock, for those who don't know in Bedrock moving a gold block back and forth eliminates the cool down for Bartering and it becomes immediate so they pick it up and drop the item at the same time

My mum used to collect special edition stamps. She kept a set Mint, and then sent herself letters with the stamps on to get them Franked as well. So yes, people do send themselves letters IRL. I mean,, technically it was just an envelope with a stamp and address on it, but it still counts 😆
Pearl Gem sounds like they could make amazing music.
If you take that output of gold blocks and autocraft them back into ingots for the bartering input while the bartering system is on, you won't have to manually craft and load up the bartering system before going AFK.
