How to Install a Toilet Seat: 5257 & 5259 Models by American Standard
Follow along with this instructional video for step-by-step instructions on how to install your 5257 and 5259 model toilet seats by American Standard.
To install the toilet seat follow these simple steps. There are two sets of washers included with the installation kit that you may choose for optimal seat placement on your bowl.
Step 1: Install rubber base to the seat post hinges.
Step 2: Slip the bolts through the washers, and then through the hinge holes.
Step 3: The hinge features built-in adjustable washers. Rotate the washers as needed for the best alignment of the seat on the toilet bowl.
Step 4: Thread the nuts onto the bolts. Tighten the bolts using a screwdriver, being careful not to overtighten.
Step 5: Close the hinge covers. The seat will not work if the hinge covers are not closed tightly.

Oh my goodness thank you so much for making this video! I had no clue on how to do install this toilet seat. The instructions gave 3 or 4 different ways to install the seat which made it more difficult. The video was perfect! Thanks again!

LMAO. It's a girl who easily installed the toilet seat. And then, there's me who has held my Amazon toilet seats(they came in a pair) for almost a month... because, I had no idea how to install it. After learning how to install A.C unit, imma try installing this now! Thank you. P.S. Coming to N.A has taught some valuable lesson. Back home, you just give 100 bucks to the plumber and get things done! 😒 P.S.S. Why is it called 'American Standard'? Why no Canadian Standard? Where can you get those washers at? Mine never came with it and keeps moving to the right.
Why are there two sets of metal washers? Video only shows use of of one set. Instructions are useless.
