Only problem is, he's about as smart as a trained mobility assistance dog, just without the discipline, and with all the mobility a 17-pound powerhouse cat. I had to secure all my cabinets with 15-pound magnets. But he's a good boy.

  • We had an orange boy. He was HUGE but so gentle and sweet, just a giant butterball of love. After he passed, a few months later a tiny orange kitten ran out in front of my husband's car. He rescued the kitten literally off the road and we took it to the vet. Low and behold, it was a female ginger baby! She is very small, very talkative, and VERY spicy! Yes, she is loving and quite sociable, but she has SO much cattitude! Of course, we adore her.

  • I had a female orange cat. The first night I had her she disappeared. I was frantically looking for her and found her in my bathroom sink. She had made a nest out of a pair of my panty hose, hair brush and a knife (I had used it to cut tags off of something). Second night..She was making some awful growl walking towards me. She had a quarter in her mouth and gave it to me. Altogether, she brought me 0.55cents. Third night...again with the growl. This time she had a chain hanging out of her mouth. It was my diamond pendent necklace. After that, I had to childproof my valuables. She lived to be 18 years old. I miss her.

  • I had this wonderful cat named Firestar, he was a big orange boy at about 18 pounds but not fat. He was the most emotionally intelligent animal I have ever had. He would know when you’re sad and knew how to hug. You could hug him for a long time and he loved it. Sadly he passed at 16 from cancer. But he was something special. I’ve never seen an animal show that level of love and intelligence at knowing when to comfort his humans. When we buried him, the sky was so beautiful with clouds surrounding a bright circular ray of light. The sky stayed like that for 3 days. I believe he was a special soul.

Had a very big round ginger boy called Timmy who, when you were sad, would get up onto your chest and give the tip of your nose and your chin a lick before settling down for a prolonged cuddle. After he died another male ginger kitty turned up in my life. He started out very skinny and ended up huge and fat like my first Timmy. He did all the same things too. I know he was a reincarnation.

  • I went 36 years being that type of person that dislikes cats. Finally after 4 years of dating my girlfriend convinced me to get a cat and little Toby came in as a kitten but now he's about a healthy 16 lb and he has the funniest personality. He's quite independent though but he'll sneak up and cuddle at night when we're not looking. He's our alarm clock if we're not up to feed him at the right time. We take him everywhere as hes leash trained, will walk on hikes better than dogs i have owned and even rides on our stand up paddleboards (he has a little life jacket its the cutest thing). But he's such an awesome cat that he turned me into a complete Cat dad that the cat distribution system brought an adorable approx 1 to 2 yr old brown tiger dsh roaming into our yard. We immediately brought him into our house and less than a week later socks and Toby became best friends. Now we have two cats and I'm not against getting a third LOL. They made me such a cat dad i spent my 20yr high school reunion showing pics of my cats.

    • Haha cats have a way of doing that. Pretty awesome you got them to be leash trained. Did you start early with that or later?

      @kittykudos@kittykudos2 ай бұрын
    • I have had leash trained cats throughout my life. I always start as soon as they can first into a tiny harness. First few days, they just lay on the floor/ground, like they are boneless, but soon they adjust to the harness, and then we start taking them for walks. I have also had cats who willingly would go for walks with us. All we had to say was “Who wants to go for a walk?” and they came running. Our ginger cat was a snake hunter, and was always the first of the cats cared for by our vet who was snake bit each spring, as the snakes came out of hibernation. The first year Tom T. Cat was very sick after he was bite, but each succeeding year, her reacted less, as his body built up immunity to the venom. He was usually bit by rattlesnakes.

I just watched a decent movie about a ship that sets sail off of Ireland with a scientist to do some survey. After setting sail the scientist takes off her hat and the crew discovers she is a redhead and they all go crazy. Deep sea monsters and lots of death later and I laughed at the thought of was it her red hair that caused it LOL

    • I have a cat "friend" named Tiggy. He belongs to the neighbor, but since I put food outside for the strays, he has been in my yard. He has a very large frame, almost as if he's part wildcat, but his bones are also very delicate, as if he's a lanky Egyptian cat. He has pretty short hair, without much undercoat, and the black and brown tiger stripes. He def looks like a cat from a warm region of the world. Anyway, because he looks so thin and lanky, I wrongly assumed he was a girl and so I named him "Twiggy," after the runway model, who I am positive now was a man. Anyway, the name "Twiggy" morphed into Tiggy, and I also finally learned that Tiggy was a boy, and I finally learned which neighbor he belonged to. She tole me she also recognized his large frame, and so his real name that she gave him was "Big Boy." I tried calling him "Big Boy" after that, but I just couldn't and had to call him Tiggy instead, lol, because it's a cuter name, and he knows I named him Tiggy. Anyway, he comes to visit quite a lot (he sleeps over), but he still lives at my neighbor's house. It's weird, but it works, and my neighbor is okay with it. All my cats have ended up with abbreviated nicknames which have evolved from their formal names, and I think the name, "Tiggy" is a natural and will stick. Glad to see someone else had a cat whose name evolved to be "Tiggy," too!!!

  • I have the rarity of having an orange female. She is completely different from any cat that I’ve ever had. Her markings are absolutely beautiful. She has target like markings on both sides of her abdomen and a large, orange stripe going down her back. She is friendly to people she decides she likes, but they are few and far between. She’s very very independent very intelligent and wants her own way. She has learned the meaning of many of the words that I say to her for example, if I want to go to the bathroom when I get up in the morning, I just say” gotta pee” and she heads for the bathroom. I’ve called the kitchen window the window and she goes out through that window. I I referred to my bedroom window as the windy she sleeps in my bedroom and associates that word with that room. Some days I say “ Do you want to go window or windy? she’ll sit there and look at the door to the bedroom and look at the window, and then decide which place she needs to go, I couldgo on because her vocab is large.. It’s taken her nine years to get up in my lap even though she has always appeared to love me and loves to have me pet her but she’s not really affectionate. But she’s beautiful. She also learns extremely quickly. She’ll learn meaning of things that I say to her. She has been an experience and a half.

She had three stripes down the top of her spine. She was the most evenly patterned cat that I have ever seen. On top of that, she was also a tuxedo tabby. She was the most confident, funny and intelligent cat that I have ever had. She also smelled like a flower! True!!! Her purr was out of his world. Like 3 cats purring at once!!! True again! My Siamese mix was insanely jealous of her and would copy the things that my 'Tabbytha Tweetum' did. I would also say that she had an IQ of a 12 yr old human. She knew what I was telling her and she obeyed. She was very self aware and as would tell people, she knew what she wanted, when she wanted it, where she wanted it and if she wanted it!!! She pretended like she was nursing off of my thumb as she layed on my lap. If I wasnt sitting in her 'cuddle chair', she would direct me to it. If I wasn't in bed by a certain time, she would direct me to the bedroom. Not another cat like her. I could go on...... People were very impressed by her. She was an impossible act to follow. I will never get over losing her. I knew that I had something very very very special with her. She was a star!!!! Long live all kitties! They are a true gift from our Grand Creator!!!!!

    • It was my long-ago landlord's grey/white tuxedo cat who figured out that I could somehow understand him. He really seemed to think he was human, and was extremely frustrated by having to walk around so low to the ground, by having to eat out of the same bowls as CATS, and that none of his fellow humans in the house could understand him when he plainly said what was on his mind! But one day I refused to let him have his way when he objected to being picked up, propped him up looking over one of my shoulders, and walked around the house backwards so he could see the world as a fellow human. Oh, how he purred. Like a jet engine. As time went on, when he wanted or needed something, he'd come up to my room and press my door so I could hear it move in the frame. Then when I opened it he would look up at me and usually (but not always) make a sound, and based on his look and sound I would know if the food dish was empty, or the water dish was empty, or he wanted to go outside, or he wanted to play "chase the string", or he wanted me to carry him around for a human-level view for a while, or he just needed some company. Whatever I intuited, I seemed to always get it right, and so that little tuxedo (who remained quite averse to even being touched by most people) accepted me into his extremely small circle of approved company and kept me there. What a character.

He would even come into the bathroom and put his paws up on the edge of the tub and meow at me if I was taking a bath when the phone was ringing. "Hey lady, aren't you going to answer the phone"? He liked my neighbors too and would walk into a neighbors house and spend time with them when their door was open while they brought in groceries. • I was adopted in a parking lot by my orange tabby. After an immediate bath, he stayed on my lap for nearly an hour to lick himself dry. He was super mellow, liked to flip a 240 off my lap over and over, play catch w a super ball, allow me to drape him over my arm upside down by his hind legs and swing through the yard, follow me on walks with no leash, and even wait for me outside the corner store. I’ve had cats my whole life, but he was the best. I miss him.

    • Wow, we had a similar orange tabby when I was five years old!! We got him from someone who was selling or giving away kittens from a shopping cart in front of a K-Mart!!! We named him Tommy and he, too, would wait for us kids outside of the little store we went to where they gave us free candy (one of us kids would always wait with him outside the store, too). To get to the store, he crossed a busy highway with us, without a leash!! And that happened several times!!! He would love to ride in the car with us to get groceries, and sit on my grandfather's shoulder as he drove. When we got home, us kids had pent up energy and so would race Tommy down the gentle slope to our house, and yes, Tommy would outrace us by a longshot. We always thought that one day, we could win the race with him, but there was just no way, he was too fast. We were always so thrilled by it, lol, thrilled to have lost a race to a cat. I think he knew it too, and so gave it all he had, instead of being easy on us, lol. He really was one of us, like a dog, but part of the family for sure.

Once he followed us into the nearby woods, a bit distressed to be outside of his territory. All was well as he trotted along the path. That is, until a woman with a 9yo boy and unleashed pit bull came along. Her pit chased my cat up a huge tree, and she dashed off after her dog, leaving us to care for her small child. I had to scoot to work, so my friend., a Dr Doolittle with animals, say at the foot of the tree for 45 min until Archie was ready to come down.

    • Yes, they are a version of regular tabby and you’re correct the all cats if you really look. I found that out when I researched it a few years ago. The thing about the orange tabby is that the M is more prominent because of the colour that makes it show up so well. My cat Chelsea is not an exceptional cat to anyone except me but she’s a beautiful cat her markings are beautiful and more speculative than any other cat that I’ve had over the years Cats all have their own personality And it’s the personality that makes them individual. Certainly Chelsea my orange tabby is the most individualistic cat that I’ve had in my 86 years. There really hasn’t been a period during that time when I didn’t have a cat and I loved them all. I I loved black cats too and I’ve had several of these. I’ve had black and white cats and I love black and white cats too. To tell the truth I love all cats. However, I have to say that Chelsea, my orange tabby stands out for her intelligence, more than any other cat. I had another bobtail orange tabby that everybody called ugly and she wasn’t pretty but she could put on a show like nobody else she was in the days of carpeted walls and she would go up and retrieve anything that we put there for her to bring back she climbed my daughters jeans, sat on her shoulder regularly, and she waited for me on the top of the door to the laundry room, and when I pass through the door with a basket of laundry, she would jump into the laundry and triumphantly ride to wherever I was going. She was so different and loved by everyone that never came in contact with her, but she wasn’t as intelligent as Chelsea. They’re all different they’re all lovable.

Mom named him _Pinky._ He was smart and generally friendly, though he had his moods. He lived to be fifteen, and he had a good life, went with us for family vacations, loved to go fishing because he knew he was going to gorge on guts and bycatch. He loved cuddling on his terms, but when he'd had it, enough was enough. Once while he was in my Mom's lap while she was crocheting, her arm stroking him while she worked, and he suddenly grabbed her with his claws and bit down on the arm with enough force to get the artery. Adter a couple of these episodes, Mom and Pop figured that the attacks had to do with Mom's change from a more subtle color yarn to red. They say cats can't see some colors, including red, but Pinky recognized red whenever he saw it and he went tense and sometimes growled at the object. His coat was more a pattern of swirls and dark orange blotches, and it was funny, but he had exactly one black whisker.

Aside from knowing how to interact with cats, I just give them attention when they need it, then they walk away, and I go back to my business. If I want their attention, I let them approve my presence before I touch them. • As for coat; tabbies come in 2 varieties; Mackerel and Classic. Mackerel is striped, classic is swirled. Orange kitties are so adorable! I’ve had several and they all had the sweetest purrsonalities. Oddly, most were polydactyl. Only one of them was female. She was a smol girl, but she was a brave hunter. We lived in the country, so she came and went as she pleased. When she was out at night, there was a gift on the front porch for me. She left everything from mice and birds to snakes, fish and even weasels! She was my first kitty of my own and I called her Martha🐈❤

  • We had a wonderful orange kitty. Tigger must have been the runt of the litter, he was a stray so we don’t know much about him. He was small, but he thought he was a lion! We loved him and miss him very much. ♥️😺

  • I’ve had two orange tabby’s. Both brothers one was completely feral he was a riot total bad boy, my stuff was in danger. The long hair tabby was a gentleman, he waited for me, loved me, was super sweet to me all the time, he would never do something if I said no to him. I miss both 😢

  • There was this huge orange cat that hung around my apartment. I don't mean fat, he was buff. One fay I was chillin on my porch sitting in a chair and he walks up, sniffs me, sits down and meows. I open my door and he walked in, I followed him around as he inspected every inch of the place. He then went out the door and sat in exactly the same spot. I went and sat in my chair. He gave a loud trillmeow and walked off. From that day onward he would leave dead stuff on my doormat. Mice/Rats/Bugs/roadkill. Every single morning without exception. Thanks for keeping me fed, big orange bro. 😅

  • We had an orange and white tabby named Rusty that weighed 27 pounds. He looked like Garfield. He was leash-trained and traveled with us 17 times across the U.S in our motorhome. We adopted him at 8 weeks old, he lived to be 15 years old, and went to the Rainbow Bridge two years ago today, April 14th.

Tuxedo perfectly normal although a bit of a diva at times, in fairness there isn't a bite or scratch in her either! Love them all to bits ❤

  • I've had 2 that were huge like Garfield! I now have a small short hair male. Three vets have told me that his bread have a defect with their urinary system and that they usually don't live long due to this. He's so lovable and very needy. He's also our "copy cat", he copies things that the other cats do, no actual personality of his own! He's very possessive and jealous of the females in the house! He's a unique cat to our family! 😸

  • My most loving cat was my big orange boy, Jamaica. He was a 15-pound sweetheart who just loved people. My young nieces could carry him like a baby - on his back with all 4 paws waving in the air - and he would purr like a madman. He always knew when I was sick and would sleep on my stomach like a hot water bottle that never cooled off. He had both the M on top of his eyes and the stripes from either corner on the sides - I called it his "double wishbone suspension", a selling point for certain cars at the time. He also had freckles all the way around his nose leather. Not everyone could carry off nose-liner, but he did. He passed from diabetes 14 years ago, but I still miss my boy.

  • I have a tuxedo girl and 2 ginger boys, the short haired one Simba i think is actually broken, we have a dud lol , he is as dumb as a stump, never speaks, most would said no personality at all, he is frightened of his own shadow! However he is a very big boy, especially considering he was the runt of a litter and should not be here really, nearly died, his back legs were twisted, and his mum rejected him, and the vet said to put him down, or had to splint his tiny legs, and massage them over and over again, and bottle feed him,, if wanted to give him a chance, and here we are 14 years later, perfectly healthy and like i said very big boy! Also i have took the mic a little, but they are all my world, and there is not a bite or scratch in any of them, all soft as anything, and i love them to bits! 😀❤🐈🐱

  • Our first cat, when I was around 5 years old, was an orange striped boy which my mom got from someone who was either selling or giving away the kittens from a shopping basket at K-Mart. He ended up being fast friends with me and my brother who was a year older than I. He was very much like a dog and accompanied my brother and I and the neighbor kids on our expeditions. He even crossed a busy highway with us kids several times, when we trekked to the random mom and pop store which gave free candy to us kids. Our cat would wait outside the store with us, just as if he was a dog. His name was Tommy, because he was a tomcat, but we sometimes called him "Tomasio the Catio," because he of course had that regal air, and a bit of a lion's mane. We didn't have a car, but my grandfather would pick us up to take us grocery shopping, and Tommy would love to go with us, just like a dog!! He would sit on my grandfather's shoulder as he drove, lol, so he could look around. When we returned home, we had to walk down a gentle grassy slope to get to our house from the parking area, and my brother and I, plus Tommy, would have pent up energy and so race downhill to the house as fast as we could. Every single time, we tried our hardest to outrace Tommy, but he won every time by a longshot, to our delight, we were amazed with our friend with special powers, lol. Sadly, he passed away of pneumonia, and we were heartbroken. That was the first time in my life that I prayed an irrational prayer and asked God to bring Tommy back. I know now that prayers don't work like that, but it was just so hard to not have our beloved and loyal, noble and "regal" dear cat anymore.
