Women's 3000m, Meeting de Paris, Stade Sébastien Charléty, August 28, 2021
The Women's 3000m event in Paris was scheduled to have sixteen participants, one of them did not start. The strong field of thirteen runners plus two Pace Makers included seven Tokyo 2020 Olympians that competed in either the 1500m (Gabriela Debues - Stafford, Canada) or 5000m in the case of Ejgayehu Taye (Ethiopia, Olympic Finalist), Elise Cranny (USA, Olympic Finalist), Eilish McColgan (Great Britain), Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal (Norway, Olympic Finalist), Nadia Battocletti (Italy, Olympic Finalist), and Pace Maker Esther Guerrero (Spain), all of them spearheaded by the IRREPRESIBLE Francine Niyonsaba (Burundi).
IRREPRESIBLE, I like the way that word sounds, the meaning is even better, I will use it more often.
Niyonsaba achieved a World Lead, a National Record, and a Meet Record of 8:19.08.
Can't wait for a Hassan - Kipyegon - Niyonsaba, Mano a Mano. Comment if you'd like to watch such epic competition between them. Is it gonna be until Oregon 22?
