ESPN FC's Steve Nicol, Shaka Hislop, Gab Marcotti and Dan Thomas break down Liverpool's 4-0 win over Leicester City and whether the visitors have sealed the Premier League title with the victory. Marcotti refuses to crown a champion until the math checks out while Hislop believes the result defined both clubs' respective seasons. The group also looks at Trent Alexander-Arnold's rise at Liverpool with Nicol saying the club and player are "the perfect fit" for each other and Alexander-Arnold couldn't replicate this performance somewhere else.

As a liverpool fan i aint saying it till were crowned till may.
I agree

Respect
yeah hopefully we have it done in April and then go and get the CL again, too early to be big headed.

Hats off to Liverpool. They are simply better than everyone else. Fair play.

Zarif Shaukat The best club side on the planet, by some way. And we will only get better.
I agree with Gab. Even though Liverpool look unstoppable, football can be very unpredictable and cruel to even the best teams.
sports in general fam
I still remember the pain all these years
We have injuries and still amazing after going to Qatar
pool fan yes, the energy levels of every Liverpool player especially Alexander-Arnold and Robertson during the Leicester game was really impressive
Every Liverpool fan knows this, most Liverpool fans will not celebrate the title till its won
In sport it is best not to celebrate until the winning team lift the trophy, The scary part for liverpool is they are beginning to start to keeping clean sheet and also scoring all over
Yes their form is actually ticking up now. Their defence stop leaking goal and salah and firmino are scoring again. Add to that keita contribution, injured players to come back after new year, and even new player in takumi. Liverpool got through what should be their worst fixture list with no scratch

It's over
Hendo has the elegance of a swan and the tenacity of a pitbull, his covering allows Trent to just wreak havoc down that right hand channel, so underrated
Henderson is that kind of player that plastic fans hate but that managers love. You don't need to be pulling off Ronaldinho tricks to be a world class midfielder. Hendo is a very intelligent player and a great captain to boot
not under rated at all.
Alexander-Arnold stole the show tonight. What a performance. YNWA.
TAA is better.
From the first second of the match if you remember, 1st shot on goal by Trent..
I shall open a logistics company and name it "Trent Alexander Arnold" and My motto will be "We Always Deliver" 😂😂😂
im a liverpool fan as same as Gab that still long way to go. We are talking about 20 epl games more + FA cup + champions league. Anything can happen. BUT I must admit everything can be confirm IF we can get favourable result against Man city and Spurs.
They rightly keep mentioning Alexander-Arnold but Robertsons is at the top with assists as well, only 4 behind Trent. So they're on about how crazy it is to have a full back with lots of assists but Liverpool have another one on the opposite side which to me is more crazy.
Robertson doesn't have anywhere near the talent or the amount of assists that Trent has. I guess u are Scottish
@@andrewjoyce9038I never said he's more talented. I'm pointing out how the pundits are going on about what any team would give to have just 1 player with those numbers, especially from full back, but the fact is Liverpool have 2. Robertson's numbers aren't that far off Trents but most teams would give anything just to have Robertson, let alone both of them.
@@george_91 ok I understand. Robertson is a good up and down fullback but doesn't have the vision or technical ability of Trent. I don't think there's much of a difference between chillwell or Robertson
George Long I’d say Robertson is the better full back. Trent is basically a midfielder not really a full back
Andrew Joyce passion and work ethic, think robbo edge chiwell on that by bits
When Mane had a bad day & Salah the worst day... Bobby & Trent step up

Gab is secretly a Liverpool supporter who's been waiting 30 years for this. Come now, course no true Liverpool fan wants to count it as ours until the maths is impossible to deny us!! We've been burnt before but GET IN!! Today was exactly what we needed and may that long continue. Going on to win with the sour taste of 97 points last year and a loss can only be washed away with a record PL title win after 30 years!! Get it Redmen! Stay unbearable and unbeatable!!
NARMAK hes hated us since 05 when we beat Juve and Milan.
Imagine if Liverpool lose to a team like Watford lol
@@hellohi1445 well, i gotta say that this season has had some shocking results. Let's hope they're just not gonna be that way for Liverpool from now on until the end of the season. Liverpool winning with 100+ points unbeaten puts 97 points loss last year in the rearview. A Champions League defence then would be a cherry on top! YNWA!
NARMAK I don’t think Liverpool will win the ucl Because last year klopp was focused more on ucl and he did win it however he did bottle the prem by 1 point He ain’t taking that chance so I think Liverpool will go semis but won’t win it
@@hellohi1445 if you call the tightest Premier League race in history ending on the final day "Bottling it" i'd hate to see what measure of success you're comparing it to lol. As for UCL, Liverpool are still in the competition and finished top of their group with a clean 2 nil away at Salzburg. They're now top of the Premier League with 52 points. 13 point lead and a game in hand. Recently became Club World Champions. First English team ever to do international treble AND have still got new signings to potentially join alongside the sublime Takumi Minamino come January! Never mind the summer transfer window. Liverpool is the #1 team any player looking to win titles is gonna sign up for. Anybody else is a mercenary looking for a fat payday and Klopp doesn't need them. Liverpool doesn't need them. We need people willing to put ego aside and work as a team. Not think they're bigger than the team. Remember Barcelona v Liverpool 2019 UCL! This teams even better than last year. Haters can suck some lemons! Might make these Unbearables less sour ;p
Tears in my eyes. THAT’S FOOTBALL. Never been more proud of this team
Gab is right. Until the math says they have won the league, they haven't won the league. Anything can happen, injurys, poor run of form, etc.
Rogene Roper Yh that’s true but I think and many think the premier league title is over
I will celebrate when we have five games left with 16 points to spare lol
Faiz Fuad exacty, hopeful and it's looking good, but the math isnt there yet
They're gonna end up cursing Liverpool by suggesting every other day they won the title already
@@alinjie2950 As do I.
Here’s the analysis... TAA and Robertson are the best fullbacks in the world. 20 and 16 assists totaling for 36 assists. TAA is Standing out this season because Salah has taken a dip in form. So he is picking up the slack and he’s naturally getting better. Robertson is still putting in shifts week in and week out absolutely nobody I’ve seen him match up against him has the motor and endurance he has. The biggest difference Robo doesn’t also have those extra 4 assists is because Mane is playing out of his mind at the moment and has been cutting inside more and dropping the ball to Robertson on his overlapping runs less. So Robertson is not getting as many opportunities to whip the ball in. However I think Robertson has stepped up defensively this season and tracks back better. I’m just glad we have them both to be honest. I can’t wait to Fabinho and Matip back! I also can’t wait to minamino play either. I really think Salah needs a break. He had to try and carry his country over the summer and he really needs a rest for a few weeks before he gets injured. Plus mentally I think he needs to step away and refresh. I think Minamino could easily slot in off that right side for a couple weeks in January. But I’m almost certain that’s what Klopp plans as well
KZhead Drifter hopefully minamino would utilise them both and that would be insaneeee
Marcelo and carvajal are better foh Best pl fullbacks

Ilesh Patel Chelsea 0-1 West Ham Chelsea 0-1 Bournemouth Chelsea 0-2 Southampton
Amen 👐
Ilesh Patel 100% agree these conversations can be had when the seasons winding down but December it’s unnecessary. LFC fan and we should just enjoy what’s happening and analyze it from there, not debate if it’s over or not!
That's what they should be talking about. How good the players are and the coaching staff
poolfans bruh he wasn’t even being mean
He works for Liverpool as a RB/RWB because the midfield is the work horse, if he was in a different team, he would need to play as a midfielder.
Dan Zorny i dont even think tht position is fb/rwb thts rrwdrm (really really wide/deep right mid) lol
Like kimmich
I don't buy the narrative that TAA is suspect defensively. He is regularly targeted as the so-called 'weak link' and, more pertinently, because Virgil Van Dijk plays on the left of the centre of defence, and yet remains part of the best defence of the last two seasons, and part of a defence that got to the final of the Champions League two years in a row, winning it one season. Maybe - _perhaps_ - I could grant you ad argumentum that he's the weakest of the four defenders defensively... but targeting him really doesn't seem to have helped the likes of Man City, Barcelona et al all that much, does it?
I think most of it is a bit of a ham-fisted attempt to compliment him for what he brings to the attack. He's good defensively, though no-one would should be calling him great. When we consider the way Liverpool attack and his role in such attacks, there is little argument as to the reasons why he's held in such high esteem by so many the world over. His range of passing is extraordinary, particularly for someone so young. It's the footballing world's worst kept secret. All-in-all, the Liverpool defence is more than fit for purpose with him occupying the right back slot. And who can't Liverpool outscore? I wouldn't worry about naysayers. :)
nope...like gomez, he does have weaknesses defensively, and lovren too...but they all do their jobs well enough to be playing consistently, and i think klopp has enough experience to pick good players what i think they target is the space behind him and not trent himself
He just lacks the pace to beat quickest wingers. Otherwise, he is great and have lots of clearances at dangerous situations. With Gomez around, the pace problem is dealt with
My target is to go unbeaten the whole season which will be tough but In order to win the league I feel like we have to between now and may
The only games I could see is dropping points United and city.

still too far to call it done. What a joke. As a LFC fan myself, 14-point gap is nice, but 60 more points in play? Anything can happen. Can City collect all 60 points? Highly unlikely, but yes, they can. How we prayed last season that they would drop points, haven't dropped a single point until they won. Burnley, Leicester games, close, very close, they did it. THEY FKIN DID IT. They deserve respect and for Liverpool it's wise to respect them. It's going to be over once we are 14 points clear with 4 to play or similar case.
I think everybody says it's over except Liverpool's fan. Too many times waiting and drama around this club to be trustfull but it certainly smells really good for them.
Radim Tichý absolutely man 21 point is safe less than 18 still dangerous you never know when performance and injury start occurring so keep going
@@M4ke4l you didn't realise how big the gap is this season ...
Yes, this time it seems it's really going to happen. Last year was unlucky, Rodgers' time it was great run, but a bit unexpected despite undisputable firepower, it was more a surprise how close we were. This time guys look really focused on one game at a time, Klopp is also becoming better manager each year. It's not just over yet.

Can we just admire the fact that Liverpool are still unbeaten. And in this form they can be the new invincibles
This team is far stronger than the invincibles, this could potentially be the greatest team we have ever seen. Can't see anyone beating them in the league or Champions League.
RIOxHD exactly, if it wasn't for callejon's dive and van dijk's mistake against napoli, then liverpool would be undefeated in the whole season

Lol agreed, Feel like these questions just come up like everyday, It is so annoying
Charlie S Well as a football show they have to talk about the title race and since Liverpool are at the top of the league then I think it's normal that they discuss different scenarios to make the show interesting. What are they supposed to talk about then? Norwich City?
They are obviously fans afraid to be disappointed.. and we know anything can happen in football
City now have to win all remaining games and Liverpool drop minimum 14pts or 5 defeats I don't think that can happen the more the question has been asked as to if Liverpool can win the league? the gap has been getting wider
The gap is now the biggest that it has ever been, even if city beat wolves, they will be 11 points clear and a game in hand all b4 the new year. Also after the leicester game liverpool have the best goal difference
Well GD doesn't mean too much atm, i mean if Liverpool lose 11points it will certaily cost them more than a +2 GD

What did I say there that isn't possible? Man City went 17-0-1 in the back half of last season. Liverpool went 13-4-1. I'm not saying it's likely, but it's definitely still possible. I'm a born scouser and I wouldn't disrespect Man City enough to say they couldn't duplicate that form. Pair that with injuries or a dip in form from us and there you go. It's definitely still possible.
@@lauroconti4665 I'm giving an opinion, there is nothing wrong with being a pessimistic supporter. Hats off to them though. They are on some other level at the moment, and they could go unbeaten this season.
Before Jürgen Klopp took over the job at Liverpool, the club was really struggling and if I could remember they were not even among the top four teams for couple of seasons. But all that changed since the arrival of Jürgen Klopp. He has turned this team into one of the best team in the world right now. I am a Arsenal fan, but if Liverpool fail to win the premier league this season I will migrate to Afghanistan. 😁😁.
Haha! Even I'm an Arsenal fan bro. I'm looking for the same from Mikel. We need some good players to replace the current squad
Kind of disrespectful when showing those top assists stats that they didn't give Andy Robertson a mention. After all, he's also a full back and is only four assists behind Trent.
3 assists behind robbo has 5 trent has 8 in prem
Hendo, Trent, Andy and Bobby were just outstanding. The whole team was great. This was a real statement from Liverpool. I'm so happy for Kloppo, he deserves all this success...the best manager in the world, no doubt about it!
After last season, I'm waiting till we've officially won the league.
Liverpool still has gears to go up. At present no matter what level they face, they have a gear to go up.
Fitzroy George true. But tonight was a nearly complete performance against our nearest challengers.we destroyed them. It could’ve been 10-0
Even after reds winning the premier League this year ...some people will still ask if they can win the league ...

The question is not whether it’s mathematically over, obviously everyone knows that. The question is whether it is plausible for City to catch a team this good, with a point difference of 14 (assuming Liverpool wins the game in hand). I don’t see it happening because City has to be perfect from now on and Liverpool has to be really bad. Even United of all people hasn’t lost 5 games this season and you expect Liverpool to lose 5 in the second half? No way
The point difference is currently 14. City will have played an extra game tomorrow. Who knows whether they'll win, lose or draw, tomorrow, though? Slip up again - by losing - and it's 14 points the difference with Liverpool having a game in hand on top of that. If they still have desires for the title, then the pressure has to be immense. If they've all but given up, expect sloppiness to continue to creep in to their results.
L M100 everyone knows it’s mathematically possible Mr. obvious
No body expected barca to choke a 3 nill lead again for the second season so anything is possible

@@lalainaramarivelo no I was just saying that anything can happen you never know until the the season end 😉
It's quite amazing because remember at the end of the last decade, the Great Barcelona team led by Pep rose up and became perhaps the greatest club side ever. And the end of this decade, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have risen although not as aesthetically pleasing in terms of their style of play, but definitely as dominant if not more than that Barca side. And even though, they've only won 1 major trophy so far and will probably not win a sextuple like Barca, I'm sure that this could be the start of a dynasty that presides over European football for the decade to come with most if not all of their players in their prime years or approaching them. Not to mention they have one of the best players in the world in every single one of their positions. My good wishes remain with them, however a little jealousy still remains from my team's defeat at Anfield last season.

What they said about TAA being in the correct system made me think.. He mainly just puts in a gorgeous ball with three world class forwards running onto it or a world class center back heading the ball off a spot kick

Liverpool have many quality players, so I can hardly see them fade away in spring. Thursday's result was not good for those who want an exciting Premier League. Of course we can't blame Liverpool for that. If they're the strongest, they're the strongest. They've bought half of Africa for their team, so it's not surprising that it yields a solid amount of success.

If liverpool lose the league from this position, I will not watch football for a year 💯
My word last time we lost in league was jan 3rd to man city and it was a very close game, I ve gota say premiership anyone can beat any1 on there day but liverpool could of won 10 nil away to there nearest rivals that is just off the stats league whenever it began
Short answer: YES
As someone who's supported liverpool through the 09. 14. And 18 seasons. I know this isnt over. I'm just enjoying it
Trent is a force of nature and has a wonderful football brain, he will probably end up as a centre midfielder and be brilliant for years to come.
As a liverpool fan am with Gap on this .. it's not over we know better
Game over!!
Not over
A lot of commentators saying Trent isn't a full back, or that he should or could play central midfield in the near future. Yeah maybe he could, but the question is why would we switch him to centre mid when he's playing like this at full back and it's working for the whole team? He's redefining the position and he should stay there for the foreseeable future imo.
I won't believe it's over until I see Jordan Henderson stepping up to heft the trophy.
