Yeah, is awesome because after 14 years the franchise still relevant in superheroes media content.

Spiderman 2 is great, about the same as the games in the past as far as I've played, just better graphics and story. Arkham games are still up there, but are getting a bit tiresome from all that they've been making. They should make another superhero game for a change.
Instead of looking for which is better and worse, let's enjoy the two sagas that have provided quality

100% true. It is also insane the amount if interactivity you have with the game world, with walls crumbling when hit by the batmobile and rain realistically flapping off your cape as you glide over Gotham city. Absolutely incredible!
Looks like shit. I've seen 2008 games look better literally.

The only issue with Arkham Knight is the lack of actual boss fights.
Well it was based on character development and to show the progression of how Batman was becoming the Joker. When scarecrow injected him with his scaretoxin it erased joker out of Batman's mind and he beat the shit out of scarecrow.

Arkham knight has lots of interiors with interactable named NPCs and quests inside such as GCPD, the clock tower, and the two large airships. All are enterable at any point in the story without loading screens. You also get the batmobile which adds a new wrinkle to the usual arkham formula by adding vehicular combat and navigation. This resulted in an open world that is multi layered with complex roads and underground levels; all accessible without loading screens. The main mission in spiderman is still using separate states where you are locked in a specific location and locked out of doing side activities. Even a simple phone call in Spiderman locks you out of exploring the map as arbitrary "leave the mission" messages prevent you from doing stuff. Arkham knight's main missions are always active, meaning you can still pursue other activities despite having another main objective active. For example, I can have poison ivy inside the batmobile as part of an ongoing story, but I can still use the batmobile in doing other side activities or choose to leave her and go to the other side of the map and complete other side activities; all seamless without getting out of any mission states. The world design is much more complex in batman. You actually get a city with enterable buildings that have multiple floors with functioning elevators, The open world in spiderman is still using the ubisoft template with inorganic checklists of mindless repetitive collectibles. arkham knight does side quests organically where villains and activities are already populated in every facet of the game environment, meaning sidequests do not have obvious flashing icons that gets triggered by loading screens, but are diagetically embedded in the environment such as ominous music playing, a smoke coming from a building, and a creative jump scare during open gameplay. The riddler collectibles also transform Gotham into a huge puzzle playground where level design and the game mechanics are utilized together to create unique challenges that are mechanically driven, and not by quicktime events. Mission design in arkham knight is also devoid of boring walking-only sections but filled with bespoke mechanics that translate batman's other facets into actual game mechanics, not through quicktime events. Combat is much more visceral in Batman with better animation and sound feedback and a more creative utilization of gadgets. More than one enemy can attack Batman at the same time and counter attacks are uniquely animated depending on the number of attackers. Spiderman only has a dodge/parry and never counters. In addition, arkham knight has an exceptional dual character combat system where players can switch seamlessly between two characters in performing one single combo string. The enemy AI is far more complex in Batman. There are multiple levels to their level of alertness. They can be calm, cautious, nervous, and terrified. All these emotions result in different gameplay scenarios as enemies try to adapt to Batmans traps and techniques. This is a far cry from spiderman where AI is simply binary. Batman Arkham simply immerses you in what it's like to be batman in minute detail. Enemies also have their own idle dialogue which adds personality and charm to the otherwise mundane combat encounters.
Arkham is a much better game than Spiderman 2 in general

@@shadow-man8715fair points honestly. But the combat in those games lacked any depth, the stealth was literally laughable, and made even easier in spiderman 2 with the web lines, and bosses were wayyy too easy in the first game, and in the second game they boil down to parrying, for every single boss. They isn’t any difference other than animations and certain moves Peter or miles can do. Plus the gadgets in the new game as so useless and limited. @@Majima669 Of course it's obviously for story reasons, but you know what I mean
The amount of detail from Knight is insane. It still looks great to this day and year
right!
It was a graphic monster when it came out
Because they chose to make the game run at 30 frames. Newer games choose framerate over visuals. Because gamers themselves requested that
Keep in mind that current gen gamers debated on all games running 60 frames/second, or all games running 30 frames/second with a massive graphics improvement. Gamers voted that they wanted all games to run at 60 frames, even if it meant actual graphical improvement will be less big.
Keep in mind that if current gen games were designed ground up to run at 30 frames, the graphical fidelity would be more than twice as great. Batman Arkham fans seem completely clueless. There are plenty of great looking games last gen like Last Of Us 2, Death Stranding, RDR 2. But those games were designed purely for 30 frames per second gameplay. On console, getting a game to run at 60 uses a significant amount of horsepower which makes less room for visuals enhancement.
Arkham Knight's ageing like the finest of wines.
One element that was left off on the combat section was the dual teamwork as there are occasions where Peter would cross paths with Miles (or vice versa) and they would take down multiple enemies together, which the same can be said for Batman as he would fight alongside Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman when fighting against the criminals of Gotham City. Not to mention that both heroes would have a dual takedown with their respective allies and have different interactions with them as well.
10:17 if you press the right stick while glide kicking the camera will switch to the victims pov to make an epic shot
Amazing how Arkham is nearly 10 years older and wins in (almost) every category,...Rocksteady deserves all the props. No disrespect to Spider-Man 2, Arkham Knight is just timeless.

@@varadsalunkhe9008 Spider-Man isnt about boss fights either yet still does them better with only Arkham Origin and Mr Freeze coming close to good boss fights.
To see that Arkham Knight wins in so many aspects against a game that launched this year shows to me that insomaniac has still too much to learn about how to create a good superhero game.
It is incredible that a game from almost a decade ago (8 years) can be compared and live up to certain aspects of a current game. And although the comparison varies in certain game mechanics since they are two different characters and with different settings, there is a lot to talk about about the amazing work of Rocksteady and the love with which they worked on the saga that revolutionized superhero games.
No it cannot. Games today sacrifice graphics to run at 60 frames. If Arkham Knight on console was designed to run at 60 it would look worse.
Any last gen game that runs at 30 frames can be compared to a current gen designed to run at 60. The "big improvement" is cut due to framerate and resolution increases. Gamers debated and argued they dont want graphics like the Matrix demo if it meant only 30 frames
@@sumnahlennon5449 no shit sherlock.....now compare the 2014 spiderman with Arkham .....spiderman wont stand a chance

@@rowanstuart7150 But he’s right lol that’s literally the point of the video. I’m not gonna lie watching this makes me feel embarrassed to play SM2. I recently got the remastered versions of Arkham asylum/ city and then played Arkham knight which still holds up on ps4. It was leagues better than SM2 imo but this comparison video kind of proves that. That story, combat, stealth and details are all better than SM2. Sm2 has traversal which is better than it’s last games but that’s about it. The suits in SM2 are terrible and there’s literally like 10 mcu suits. Why not just have all the suits from the last game? The side missions in SM2 are terrible and even after that the game is dead after endgame. SM1 and MM had more content. I could go on and on. SM2 is good at best
Just the fact that a 2015 game can rival "next-gen" games is an undeniable certificate of quality.
I'm still on progress on Spider man 2, I finished 100% on that Batman, it was so awesomely epic!!
Fr bro Batman AK game is timeless
Just my personal opinion but: Game details - AK Highest points - AK Stealth - AK Texture quality - AK Traversal (car, swinging, gliding) - AK/ SM2 Gameplay mechanics- AK/SM2 Ability to… swim - SM2 Parkour/ movement system - SM2 The only reason I give traversal and gameplay a draw is because both games are absolutely phenomenal and capture the essence of the respective characters better than anything else I’ve ever played, but it’s hard to compare one who’s movement system is based around the fact that the character literally fucking leaps over buildings, to the other who spends a lot of time on street level, quietly moves around and screams around in a tank or glides over rooftops, from that perspective the SpiderMan mechanics of being fast and agile with flowing parkour and lots of quick acrobatics and raw spectacle will always win out purely because it’s so satisfying visually to watch and is possibly the mot immersive traversal system in any game, but on the flip side, from a gameplay options point of view, Knight gives you multiple options to enter a situation of either full on combat, stealth, surveying the area and marking out enemies whilst disabling their weaponry or turning it against them, or just full on charging straight through the wall in the Batmobile. So for me it’s a draw on the traversal and gameplay mechanics because whilst both win out over each-other in certain aspects, ultimately they come to a draw because they’re both as good as each-other
wrong
Cap... Biggest joke I've ever heard.. Kid didn't even touched SM 2 by himself on PS5 and then judging both games by watching a comparison video on mobile on 144p lmao Spider-Man 2 graphics, stealth, combat, map, textures all are better and superior than all Batmid Arkham games combined

weird that the clock time changes in a game that takes place all in one night, but stays the same in a day that spans weeks and has a functioning day-night cycle
Both Insomniac and Rocksteady did perfect Job with their respectful characters and their games
good god we NEED another amazing DC game. Be it Batman or someone else. I am really curious about Monolith's Wonder Woman
Arkham Knight has that music tho. Its just glorious when that movie esque score is playing while you're smacking down on thugs.
I’ve really enjoyed these comparisons between the two games. It really goes to show how influential the Arkham games were on Spider-Man. One brief observation. It seems that whenever Arkham Knight does something better, you make sure to highlight it, but don’t do the same for Spider-Man, which ends up making the comparison feel a little biased. I feel like the video would settle better if both games were given opportunities to shine in the areas where they genuinely do better things. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.
In my opinion, Fear Multi-Takedown is the most awesome takedown in Arkham Knight. It's too bad that Spidey doesn't have an equivalent move.
Its a real shame we will never have an Arkham installment on current gen... I think we would all be blown away. And I'm glad Insomniac (and many other games) pays great homage to arkahm series with making great use of its mechanics. Water in arkham knight is one of the best in gaming ever. The ONLY issue I hate about arkham knight is lack of good AA solution. The shader sub-pixel shimmering is annoying as hell. One aspect Akham KNight is clearly ahead of Spider-man 2 is art direction - the gothic noir vibe of the city is so immersive and fitting.
i really hope rocksteady puts out a next gen patch when the trilogy gets released on nintendo switch, it seems likely since epic leaked the 2022 the batman skin, so if they are spending the money to put out new content, they'll probably release it along something else to get more sales
I think it’s important to note that some of the Arkham Knight gameplay (I.e parkour) is sped up slightly. Whether by mod or editing, it should be clarified if that’s what you’re doing. And there seems to be a lighting reshade. Just to give an accurate comparison you should take the games at their base
Since I was a kid I’ve always been a big fan of Spiderman, unlike Batman, who didn't really catch my attention. Of these two games the first one I could play was Spiderman and I liked the story and gameplay, I really enjoyed playing this game, however later I could play the Batman games and let me tell you that they are pure gold, the stories are fascinating, as shown in this video, the graphics and gameplay are amazing too. As a big Spiderman fan I must say that BAK is a thousand times better than MSM2.

Both are completely different games but both are brilliant in what they’re trying to achieve so for me there’s no comparison here. Spiderman 2 may be very little on the details and methodical gameplay that Arkham Knight excels in but instead doubles down on the explosiveness, constant entertainment and the open world aliveness that Arkham Knight lacks in my opinion.

Arkham Knight so ahead of its time. Didn’t even know you could do this 9:07
My only gripe with the Arkham Knight is that stupid cloudburst boss fight and how they handle Cobra Tanks. I did hate the Bat Mobile chase scenes but I realized how horrible I’m handling the driving mechanics (I can use breaks for crying out loud😅) and see it now in a different light. All the rest are just brilliant conclusion to Asylum and City and it’s crazy how the environment interacts. The team squeezed out and utilized to the best all what Unreal Engine 3 can do. Graphics are just third for me (it always has to be gameplay first, story second, sometimes I can place both story and graphics equally or interchangeably) and I can truly appreciate that from what Arkham Knight did. Also I got trauma ingrained whenever Batman grapples upward in every building, if you know what I mean.
i like spiderman 2 more than arkham knight, even thought arkham knight have more feature than spiderman 2 such as variant of stealth takedown, but i like from spiderman 2 is from the game pace, it’s balance, not too slow also not too fast, the graphic is also one of the best this year, i like spiderman 2, and i hope spiderman 2 can win the game of the year
Batman arkham knight has better stealth takedown because you can also make differemt strategies, unlike spider man just use webs to trap his enemies...
I’ve learned so much about a 7 year old game in this
It's 8 years
I would've loved if you had included the Manbat's jumpscare during the grappling section.
Arkham Knight holds the place for best art direction/graphical details and gameplay amongst all superhero games, that's why people still come back to this game and why it's such a timeless classic
Both are my favorite games, I have fun with them
Parkour, gliding and traversal are the obvious factors on which game had more attention to detail and that alone shows Arkham Knight on top.
Perfections, i love this games. But i don't have a good computer for play the two games...

12:37 I played the 1st spiderman game from 2018 on pc but looking at the newly released spiderman 2 , I see a downgrade in graphics. Is it just me or the graphics look too cartoony like in some instances the game doesn't look realistic at all. I have seen many shots where the game looks great but sometimes it looks really bad. Hope they improve this if they do a pc port of this one.
Arkham knight would be really good but it lacks good boss fights. Kinda funny that the best boss fight in the game was DLC with killer croc. The only real boss fight in story we had was pyg and one of the infected jokers.
they didn’t have enough time, to make good boss fights, watch video from rokstady workers, they explained why boss fights were not good
Arkham night had those features(takedown/finisher, wings, grappeling/web zipping from the building's point, and etc) like 7~8 years ago, pretty sure Insomniac got inspired by that when they're making Marvel's Spider-man 2.
Games had those features long before Arkham
@@7dayspking not Spider man games Insomniacs Spider men can't even stealth KO two dudes unless he's on a web line lol Arkham city haf double takedowns And knight had fear takedowns which let you KO up to 5 enemies Even Ghost of tsushima had that with up to 3 enemies
@@Pointman11111 I don't care about Spider man 2. The game's suck IMO, they're archaic early 2000s style open world games filled with pointless tasks as side activities and with heavily cinematic on rails stories despite being set in Open world's. Bad game design all round. American open world games suck for the most part.
@@7dayspking and still you tried to downplay Batman lol
I know the point of showing the differences between games, but once you realize that most games focus on different parts, you start to understand that you can't compare too much about them. You can use as example the breaking a car from falling system, in my vision I see the batman game with a more dark scenario, Gotham is almost destroyed and everything, he NEEDS to do this, you can even see this by the way he goes exploding the whole city with the Batmobile (a goddamn tank), on Spider-Man's side the game is more ''friendlier'' and don't really need to be so destructive (even though it breaks the immersion). Another example is the jumping from a highest point where Spider-Man can resist falling from a highest place and the developers put the crashing animation and the fall damage to be a hilarious part based on this resistance, in batman scenario it wasn't shown in the video, but when he falls from a high place, he activates some kind of ''parachute'' system before he falls on the ground to prevent getting injured. In my final opinion, I LOVE BOTH GAMES, 10/10 all the way, enjoyed playing them, I played batman on my Xbox S/S and the Spider-Man on my PS5, and all I'm saying that when you appreciate both games and don't search a thing of one to another you can really see the beauty of them exclusively. One is made for a thing, the other for another. Great video, by the way! Keep up with the good work.
I can't believe I witnessed a fluid parkour sequence from a Batman game, gotta give it to the guy 😮😮😮
Batman Arkham still hold up ❤️🔥
Nah XD Batman is trash for me City is almost dead ofc there is a lot of things but it gets boring Combat is a lot worse than sm2+nothing beats web swinging
Despite the fact that SM2 obviously is graphical improvement since it's on a newer system, I think what visually lacks in that game and Arkham games have an abundance of is style. I think Marvel heroes always kind of suffered a bit due to them being set in regular cities, so the city itself lacks a bit of personality. Gotham however is like the coolest possible setting I've ever seen, only rivaled by ironically enough Metropolis, which guess again, is another DC superhero
Arkham batman only looks good because of the environment it’s set in, it’s dark and dirty, if it was set in daytime it wouldn’t look as good, they also sacrificed performance (60 fps) for fidelity, which imo is as a great take
@@gRizzly.-_-PowSpider-Man 2 looks way too plastic like and lifeless. I’d rather have good art direction, mood and personality than bright generic boring modern city. Spider-Man looks better graphically but in terms of art direction is stale, barely looks better than GTAV or even GTAIV
@@misaeltoral508 plastic? the lights and ambiance perfectly compliments the tone of spider-man
The only thing wrong with this video for the stealth section is that for spiderman its odd how you didn't show....yknow the wall and ceiling takedowns that the game literally teaches you to use. If im wrong pls correct me
Nice job getting that suit in Arkham knight 👍
I just love that my 2 favorite heroes got great games They truly deserve it
I kinda like that Batman doesn’t have civilians in Gotham he isn’t very social like Spider-Man so it’s no wonder the Arkham games take place in a night😂
5:19 you can hear when batman runs across thin metal. Thats some 2018 RDR2 level detail in a 2015 game.
These games certainly can learn from one another, which quite convinces me that Rocksteady was probably more capable of making a Spider-Man game than Insomniac. Also you forgot to compare cape physics. (Also, Batman does not care about style points.)
My only problem with the Arkham games is that it always takes place in one lockdown night without civilians. I wanna be able to roam through the city and see civilians
Batman isn’t very social, he’s more of a force of nature so it would be weird for him to interact with civilians It makes sense for Spider-Man cause he’s the friendly neighbourhood hero
How ill Civilians work in Batman games, the only thing Batman games had was hostages cause majority of Villains use hostage to get to Batman.
Same.
Its a stylistic choice they made. Its not called just "Batman", its called "Batman: Arkham".
Play Gotham knights ( me secretly looking for a co-op buddy)
for my taste it is difficult to have a choice, they are both spectacular
They should do one for the npc henchman conversations in both games
The clock tower in arkham knight run in real time, yet 24 hours you wait and it still night Spider-Man wingsuit is so fast as if he has a legit flying power
Batman >> Spider-Man 2
I was debating the other day with a guy at work...he thinks im stupid for saying Arkham Knight has better graphics than Spidey 2, after watching this video i can say im definitely not the stupid one 😂 Batman STILL looks amazing an has way better details. Its 8 yrs old an recently got a new suit update. How bad ass is that? Do you think Spidey 2 will be getting updates in 8 yrs? Nope
Unfortunately in terms of graphics sm2 is quite better the reason the Arkham games look so good is because they all take place at night and especially Arkham knight where the entire map is extremely dark and the purpose of that is to hide the aged textures however Arkham knight is still very beautiful game
@@starwatch76prime98 stop bringing the night argument and just compare Bruce face with Peter face!
@@starwatch76prime98 in 1:45 you can tell by the building that the details are left out. Spiderman take good care of the cinematic moments where it shine the most, but when you get to the gameplay it lacks
i wish rocksteady/wb games remastered the whole arkham series with unreal engine 4 or 5, gotham city looks so beatiful in ray tracing
I just realized that batman in the game have some slight super powers : - he can break an entire car just by landing on it with force and he wont even get damaged - he is slightly bullet proof makes him ammune to 3 - 8 bullets (probably its his suit) - he got super fists and combat physic making him stronger than every human no matter how big or strong that human is ( he can wipe out a group of more than 10 peoples easily ) - he can survive falling from any high building in the game making him takes 0 fall damage - he can fight monsters with superpowers and he won - just like spiderman he got that sence when someone is about to hit him or attack him making him dodge any attack if he use this ability the right way so we can just say that batman is a superhuman
Arkham City is still the best superhero game ever made and easily my favorite game of all time.
Lmao Spider-Man 2 is the best superhero game of all time now it's a fact🔥 stop living in trash nostalgia lmao After playing Spider-Man 2 I can clearly say Arkham knight is garbage in front of SM 2🗑️🗑️🗑️🗑️ In Arkham knight the whole World seem dead, missions tend to repeat themselves, riddler puzzles and missions are straight trash and boring, batmobile is cool until you felt like you're driving a tank on skates lmao... And some of it's boss battles are also garbage... While Spider-Man 2 literally improved 200 times upon every single aspect like traversal, combat, open world, missions, side missions, story, villains, character development, feels truly next gen, Spider-Man has web wings which are buttery smooth🔥 So Spider-Man 2>>>>>>>Overrated Arkham games and that's not an opinion it's a FACT🗿 Spider-Man 2 already became the Best superhero game ever made & surpassed every Arkham games combined🗿🗿🗿
@@yashsoni7614 u literally compared Arkham knight in this regard and copied your reply from another commenter. You definitely are a spider-man meat rider. And first off, have you actually played the Arkham games? The world is supposed to be dead, that’s the whole damn point. The only people on the streets are criminals, prisoners, police officers (Arkham knight and origins in that regard), it makes absolute sense on why there’s no civilians and that the world is dead, that’s the whole damn point of these games, you the player are the only person that can save the damn area. And no Arkham isn’t nostalgia based, these games have aged so damn well that they still feel like new games (besides graphics), and oh combat and stealth in Arkham is way better than spider-man, get the facts right.
@@sebb.jimenez Lmao kid I copied my own reply still you have problem with that🤣 Don't compare that overrated trash PS3 looking game with true next gen PS5 exclusive Spider-Man 2 Maybe stealth better in Arkham knight but that's the only advantage it has lmao but combat is miles better in Spider-Man 2 kid that's a fact go to school This video has already became 2 days old still you batmid fanboys came here to cry lmao move on kid🤣

Imagine a Batman Beyond Game taking place years after Arkham Knight with Terry taking the mantle or Damien but I like Terry better
Surprisingly, Arkham Knight's visuals are more stunning and it feels like the engine used in this game fits the ambiance of what Gotham should be. Dark. Mysterious. Dangerous. Plus, th rain animation is actually good. Spider-Man 2, on the other hand, felt like great as well but only thing is, the graphics of both games doesn't have that huge gap. And as if Spider-Man 2's visuals and animation was like similar on other AAA games 8 years ago. The only change was of the hardware I guess. MSM2 uses modern specs but it didn't really have that much impact graphically compared to Arkham Knight with more immersive visuals and animation.
Arkham looks more realistic and better, spiderman 2 looks colorful and unrealistic
Not really true both look great
I played both games when they were launched, I think the video is showing way more things from the Batman game than from the spidey one, there is a lot in the game that doesn't appear in the video, however, the fact that arkham Knight looks beautiful still to this day really blows my mind, but let's be honest guys, it is not even close to the performance sp has, you guys need to understand there is a freaking generation separating both games, it is ridiculous to think that ak is better in terms of optimization and textures, story is subjective, for me sp 2 is way better than ak but city is up there with sp
spidey lack details but betteri in term of graphic
Insomniac isn't that good at details like Rocksteady, but they nail the gameplay is what matters most
Both games look great. I’m glad there are such awesome games where I can play as my favorite superheroes in such high quality gameplay
7:53 wow ı've never seen this move before
I hate when people are clearly biased while making these videos. You’re deliberately doing dumb shit while playing as Spider-Man (falling on a rock from the highest point instead of a straight dive unto the ground) and saying Batman was ahead of its time for stealth variations when he literally has to rely on that because he can’t dodge bullets or fight 10 ten men with rifles without worrying about getting shot😂 Stop moving the goal post and just make a fair video…
