How Hard is it to Beat Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel With ONLY Legendaries?
Back by popular demand, I see how many farms it takes to beat Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! With ONLY legendary items. This was both more fun and harder than BL2 because I couldn't get a OZ kit for a while, meaning that my shield, oxygen and health were all one bar. However, I learnt that OZ kits are practically useless, considering the more health you have, the longer you can go without air.
If I had to guess, the total time this video took was around 48 hours (24 for the gameplay, 18 of which was footage) I managed to compress the 18 hours of footage into 2 hours, which then I managed to fit into 38 minutes.
And while I was editing, I thought "man the last video was really good, but this is going to be so much better."
I also hope I balanced the audio a bit better this time because I edit and voice over at different times, so I had to learn how to balance the voice audio.

You can grind three purple class mods and use moonstones to guarantee a legendary for the appropriate character. Usually turns out to be the "Celestial" mod. It's the only item type that will let you use moonstones to turn purples into legendaries.
Thank you for telling me! I have zero clue how all the grinder stuff works, I just know the basics.
Legendary drops rates should've been increased in pre sequel, farming multiple times just to get nothing is lowkey disappointing
Some legendaries are relatively easier to find. But I know damn well I've beaten RK5 over three dozen times and never gotten a Sham. Best I usually get legendaries are from vendors but it's mostly grenade mods.
this is how it was for every borderlands game except 3 lol
Definitely. Despite getting way more legendaries that the BL2 run, most of them were from the grinder.
It was the same for every BL game except 3, but that stupid Grinder made it about 4 times worse. It felt like Destiny 1.0. You grind for hours (pull that slot lever) then you grind all your hard work (pull the lever again). The only thing more obnoxious would've been collecting a thousand gold egrams and turning them in to get nothing but blue at best. While we're here, WHY did UVHM still have whites dropping? I've played through your short, crappy campaign twice and had to listen to Pickle snort laugh too many times. The least you count do is ensure no more common rarity drops in the hardest difficulty.
I had very few issues farming for Legendaries in TPS, I mainly farmed Iwajira for his missile launchers and grinded them with the item i wanted to become legendary quality, when I didn't get what I wanted I Alt F4'd it and repeated the same grind over and over again. I farmed any boss that had a decent legendary loot pool, farmed the weapons vendors at Concordia and repeatedly farmed the red loot chests around the game.
FINALLY a pre-sequel challenge, got bored of the BL2 challenges I've been watching
Agree
Glad to see that you guys like this! I have more runs of Borderlands games planned!
Nice job! Video looks and sounds so much better than the last one! Would love to see this for the other games too!
Thank you very much! Looking at it after uploading, there are still some improvements I can make, and some things out of my control (like youtube's compression butchering the sped up parts.)
Timestamp for shield chest is 3:17:10 :)
So that's why I couldn't find it, it was way later than I thought. Thank you very much for finding this!

That's Awesome, and Thank You! I can't wait to do and process the next run!
@@LookIntoGaming Good to hear! If you decide to stream the playthrough, be sure that I will be there :D
Well done the video was a major improvement over the previous one and i can't think of any improvements right now
Thank you! There are a few audio things I can perfect for the next video, but every video I make gets a little better each time!
@LookIntoGaming you can honestly be prouder of yourself, I've never seen someone make such major improvements in such a short time.... Because while i did enjoy the previous video some parts where it was just gameplay were tough to get through seeing as all the other parts had you talking over them.... I'm looking forward to the next one.... Also p.s. do you have it planned to do the og borderlands next or wonderlands first?
Looking forward to more TPS runs!!!
I plan to do other Borderlands games first, but I will wrap around and do more Pre-Sequel!
Waited for this video!
There’s legendaries in this game? Lol
Yeah, the drop rates are horrible in TPS, I didn't know how bad they were until this run.
Its sad to see how bad the farming is in vanilla tps 😢 Playing with exodus is such a big difference
I agree, I never knew how bad it was until this run. The grinder was what carried me through most of the run.
Went through my whole normal mode play through with out ONE legendary was so disappointed and the boss get so over hyped I beat it so easily
Yeah after this run I realized how few legendaries I've gotten though all my runs.
very good vid!
Love TPS content! Great video
Thank you very much, Glad you enjoyed!
You can use a unique shotgun (wombat, from zapped quests) and if done right will do friendly fire to Nel
If you do that can he still drop the skullmasher?

Fun run. Subbed!
Thank you very much! Glad to see that the video was fun, because all the farming was not.
iwajira got bugged to not drop his dedicated after they did the event to change him to that christmas boss, but he can still drop the hail from that guy so idk why they never fixed it
Well that would explain why I didn't get the thingy when farming him.
interesting video! would be nice to show the skill tree every now and then when there is a special breakpoint
I realize that now, there was just so much footage, and I wanted to try and cut down as much as possible.
I've been playing atomic heart a ton recently and the soundtrack is so good. Glad you used it for the video.
I loved the soundtrack when I was playing Atomic Heart, and always wanted to use the amazing soundtrack, I also hope to use it in future videos!
Claptrap has some of my favorite details gameplay wise of any character in borderlands history. Like, incendiary damage does less damage to him cause he's made of metal, but corrosive damage hurts him like fire damage hurts flesh bssed vault hunters. And since he's a robot, he doesn't need oxygen, so he's the only character that can hit zero on their oxygen and not take damage.
I really wish I played more TPS and Claptrap, he is the most fun character in TPS, and his skill trees are all great. Not using oxygen is nice, but in my Legendary-only run I learnt that when you run out of oxygen on a normal character, you don't actually die, you just stay at 1hp.
U deserve atleat 500k subs idk how u don’t holy crap ur amazing also whats ur opinion on bl3
Thank you very much! And for BL3, it depends, I love the gameplay, movement, guns, skills and bosses, But we all know the story is terrible (except for the bounty of blood DLC, that nuke is awesome.) The only other issue I have with it is it's way more grindy than other Borderlands games (it feels very similar to Destiny 2), and legendaries are WAY too common.
@@LookIntoGaming i definitely feel that legendarys are like a 50%50 percent drop rate
Huh... They must have made a change that prevents Flameknuckle from dropping a Nukem in normal mode. Because I remember it happening once when I played with my little brother.
I really wish he dropped it in normal mode, as that would have made the run way more interesting, but it is what it is.
Fun fact, you can farm the methane bridge kraggons by save quiting before completely the "cross lava bridge" part of the mission, just kill the kraggons and quit out before running to the other side and the BA kraggon is scripted to always spawn
Good to know, I was going to see if I could farm them somehow, but it wasn't a huge priority, considering this run also taught me how useless grenades really are.
Excellent video, I am glad that you took the feedback you received on the last one and made improvements. I am looking forward to the next one!
Thank you! With every video I make, my goal is to make it better than the last, and I'm also looking forward to the next run!
@@LookIntoGaming Are you going to move onto BL3 next? (I assume that one would be pretty easy with how easy it is to get legendary stuff) or are you going to continue your BL2 or TPS runs?
Sick challenge dude
Thank you! There are way more challenges to come!
:Insert cat headbanging to speaker gif: Well done on the sound 👍
You got a sub for this one. While we're on the topic of the least liked Borderlands games, (which I never understood) were you planning on a Legendary only Wonderlands run?
Thank you! I've also never understood why people don't like TPS that much, and a Wonderlands run is coming soon, after I figure out and make the BL3 run.
@@LookIntoGaming wicked!
Fun fact: There are actually a TON of bugged drop sources. RK5 was supposed to drop the Invader, but it lacked the AI package to be able to drop from its uniques pool. But there are other interesting cases. Badass Boils were supposed to drop the Fibber, Badass Shugurraths were supposed to drop the Octo, the Lunestalker Moon Buggy (after doing the racing sidequest) was supposed to drop the Hammer Buster II and Maureen from "Wherefore Art Thou?" was ALSO supposed to drop the Supernova, which absolutely would've made the run easier. I've tried tinkering around with them before to try reenabling them, but I've only succeeded with the Invader. I dunno what it is about Badass Boils, but they REFUSE to cooperate. Another fun fact: while double-checking which shield Maureen's pool listed, I found out Nakayama has a pool set to drop the ZX1. Considering container pools use a different name format, this hints at a cut quest where either Nakayama gives you a random weapon or you (non-canonically) kill him.
It's a real shame to hear how many more weapons we could have had in TPS. It's also crazy to hear just how bad the code really is. I knew Borderlands code is spaghetti, but it just seems to get worse the more things I hear about it.
@@LookIntoGaming(This is more than likely going to be VERY long and possibly in multiple comments. Beware of dragons.) It's really not so bad once you know what you're doing. I'm just a decent modder at best. I'm used to changing weapon stats and PRE-EXISTING loot pools, not fixing bugged ones. When it comes to modding BL2 and TPS, your average person is limited to editing pre-existing "Objects." Objects are materials already used by the game's code, such as equipment, skills, enemy stats and quest rewards. Each object details a specific part of the game's resources, such as a specific barrel part. There are other objects for things such as loot pools and even what parts a certain weapon can even spawn with. Heck, even some parts of enemy AI are detailed as objects. For reference, here's an Imgur post with some screenshots of the Object Explorer included with the Borderlands Community Mod Manager (BLCMM). It should give a better idea of how objects work. imgur.com/a/bigU9eH Now, you can't actually PERMANENTLY change objects. BL2/TPS modding essentially boils down to using the Unreal Engine's "set" command to overwrite the objects for the rest of the session. While you could type everything manually, it's much easier to make a .txt or .exe file that acts like a sequence of commands if you want to change more than one or two things. If you're testing a mod, you can apply new tweaks in-game by saving the changes and running the file again, but you can't return to vanilla without relaunching the game altogether. (Unless you have a mod that overwrites the entire game with its vanilla values, but legitimately who would do that.) BLCMM makes it even easier by creating a UI for mod-making. It also comes with the Object Editor so you can tell what's going on. It helps with formatting and can tell you when commands are invalid. You can set specific commands to work like hotfixes if need be (though I don't know WHEN you'd need to), and there are checkboxes that let you filter out specific changes, allowing Game Overhaul mods to be fully modular! As for actually MAKING mods, it's child's play to modify a piece of gear's stats. Just find where it already exists, change the number and run the command. If it isn't there by default, like giving the Emperor/Torrent bonus projectiles, you can rip that weapon attribute from something that DOES have it and add it to your command. Modifying pre-existing loot pools isn't that bad, either. I was able to make Boom Bewm drop the KerBlaster just by copying a two-drop Runnables pool and changing the referenced items to the Bonus Package and Kerblaster. And testing is easy since you can also modify the pool's drop chance. (Not the specific items though, as far as I know.) It's when you try making more complicated mods that things start to fall apart. My KerBlaster mod was part of a complete overhaul of it, turning it into a spinigun with with high damage and low fire rate. Changing the barrel's APPEARANCE wasn't that bad, and I was fine with stats, but making the thing spin? Rage-inducing. There are a TON of attributes for spinigun barrels that determine spin speed, spin duration, spin acceleration and so on. And they're technically made of programming BONES, meaning the spinning works more like an NPC moving their arm than a gun bobbing up and down when you shoot it. I spent DAYS trying to fix it and failed. A more experienced modder ended up telling me to send him the file so he could fix it for me.
@@LookIntoGamingGoing back to actual loot pools... Typically, when an enemy doesn't have a dedicated loot pool (mainly rare unique enemies like Oscar and Spiderpants), you'd take an unused Runnable, such as enemies from the pre-order Circle of Slaughter DLC, and point that enemy's Runnable to it. This typically works, seeing as 90% of the Unofficial Community Patch's dedicated drop additions do some form of this. But I was making my OWN overhaul mod meant to suit my tastes, and I wanted to be a purist and correct the drops to begin with. So I fixed RK5's pool by checking how other people corrected it and set out to re-enable Badass Boils dropping the Fibber. I don't know what it is, though. They REFUSE to. They have their own Runnables pool, so I linked it back up in the same way other Runnables are, and I set the Fibber to be a guaranteed drop for testing purposes. But nothing. So I tried modifying the pool like how RK5 worked, but I couldn't find the correct Object. Eventually, I tried changing it entirely and gave them RK5's pool for testing. Nope. And finally, I tried giving RK5 the Badass Boil pool to see if IT would cooperate. Nothing. Considering the Unofficial Community Patch made Oscar drop the Reogenator without doing any of these shenanigans? I still have no clue what's going on. (Though I may have found the correct AI Behavior pool I need to modify while writing this.) So I decided to just give up, shelf it for now and use my time changing what I CAN do until I'm better at changing loot pools. I'm more than likely going to take a more UCP approach and add whatever OTHER unused drop sources exist to pools that already work. Badass Boils list the Fibber because of the whole Quarantine questline? How about I add it to the Invincible Empyrean Sentinel, then? They made it MORE than clear enough that fight was made up for drama. The Sham? RK5 works now, so it'd work well, though I'd really like to give it to that one scav from the treasure hunting sidequest who locked away all his treasures, being himself. The numerous grenade mods that can't drop? Give 'em to Felicity Rampant and make her a grenade mod boss! Though really, in some cases game balance may take priorty. Sure, Maureen was meant to drop the Supernova, but you unlock the Grinders mission after completing A New Direction. Could you imagine being able to farm her for Supernovas then immediately grind them for a Sham and blocking basically everything until you've reached Helios, if not FURTHER?
cant imagine what the impact of suffering did to your mental health of playing pre-sequel for this video. you made a true sacrifice for entertainment and i cant thank you enough.
I honestly enjoy TPS, the only suffering was learning how few early bosses don't drop legendaries. Also, TPS is nothing compared having to go through BL3.
@@LookIntoGaming yeah bl3 can get long if your grinding I just like casual play more than grind

Thank you very much!
Yeah, the Eddie is basically the best Oz kit in the game, it literally makes all the others obsolete
This is my first run using it, and the shield and oxygen regen saved me way more times than I would like to admit. Although I still love the Ack-Ack for its anti-air capabilities (mostly for the fighter jet and EOS.)
@@LookIntoGaming It actually does the regen thing with Health as well as Shields.
Yeah Athena's my favourite too, I just like to imagine facing all the Raid Bosses from Borderlands 2 using Athena, more specifically her Kinetic Aspis, because I mean seriously, basically all of them have an unavoidable Nova attack, but Athena could easily block that, so how would the fights against them go with her?
Thinking about it now, I have no clue why I've never played as her before, but now she's easily the most powerful vault hunter in TPS in my opinion. And for raid bosses, I definitely think her aspis would be broken against most of them. I'm amazed at how many different damage sources it can absorb, like Eclipse and EOS' missiles.
Wait. The RK5 is bugged and can't drop a Sham? So I wasted what I can only assume is accumulated hours killing him for nothing? Wow. What a bombshell to drop on me. Well glad to know I don't have to waste my time on that boss ever again other than for XP.
Yeah, I use Loot Lemon to research drops, and my viewers also told me about some other drops. It's a huge shame how few dedicated drops there are in this game.
TPS is bugged. The handsome collection bugged the loots in TPS and 2. Like FFS dlc from BL2 bugged Voracidous and Hyperius healths. Sham was really on RK5.
Iwajira used to be the best farm for grinder because he dropped the thingy very often. That got nerfed not long after the game came out though because gearbox dosent like people having fun in their games lol
That's the sad thing. The Bee and Conference Call combo, and the Ion Cannon, a gun meant to be op, was nerfed. That's why I love using save editors, I love having truly OP guns.
You should try a challenge run where your aloud too loot anything you want up too uvhm and have to only use the gear you have got form up to then for your last run, any game 😂
I've barely managed to beat UVHM normally... That would definitely be impossible for me, but another Borderlands CC might do it (and way better that I could).
I wonder if the chest just before leaving Helios (through the door in the moonshot room on the opposite wall from the elevator) can give legendaries. Idk if it can be farmed or if you can get legendaries from it at all. Never tested it and that'll be a painful grind.
It likely can, but to farm it, you have to run through the entire level from the start, so yeah, it would be insanely painful. It would be interesting to test with a mod that resets chests.
Every gear slot can be legendary in Borderlands 2 as well btw, the blood of terramorphous is a legendary relic, you just wouldn't have it until after beating the game
True, I forgot about that when I was writing that part. The only issue is that I've never managed to beat Terra, but perhaps one day...

Any plans to do this challenge in bl1, bl3, and TTWL? 1:07
Absolutely! For BL1 however, there are supposedly no dedicated drops, so a run is unlikely, but I will do research into it on a later date. For BL3 and TTWL, I'm starting the BL3 run soon, and TTWL is after the BL3 run.
@@LookIntoGaming well bl1 you could just go for purples 🤔😅
My personal favorite challenge run in TPS was: Claptrap, common white rarity only, no purchases. Surprisingly, white rarity isn’t common. Trying to keep gear somewhat near level, especially class mods, was a challenge. I stuck to Claptrap, because his action skill can’t carry you through it, due to its randomness. What’s the point of sticking to using only white rarity weapons, if I use a Vaulthunter’s action skill to carry me, know what I mean?
I'm planning to do common weapons in all the borderlands games, but that's very far away. I would probably go Claptrap because I only have 1 run on him, and he is insanely fun.
can flame knuckle really not drop a leggy on normal mode anymore? I know that I got a low level nukem from him once that I used for like 15-20 lvls
As far as I am aware, he can't drop the Nukem on a fresh run. I also believe this is due to rocket launchers not being available until lvl 10 (or around there) and you can't farm him either, making this even more annoying.
Closest things to "single best" weapon for Athena are Fast Talker and elemental Development shotguns. Thunderfire isn't even arguable here
Interesting. I've never heard of the Fast talker until now, but It's not viable for me as I don't have Tales from the Borderlands or a save editor (yet).
Dude you fought EOS without using malestrom skill! Much harder fight without it
The only reason I didn't have maelstrom for the EOS fight was I forgot to respec right before entering the level. After I respeced, I started farming EOS, and maelstrom was insanely powerful.
@@LookIntoGaming oh yea, pair that with the Machine plus the Jacobs glitch and thats my favorite farm
EOS is my favorite farm in TPS as well, so many cool legendaries, and one of the coolest and most unique fights in Borderlands.
BLTPS is a really good game... the only problem was they destroyed the drop chances and xp farming is really atrocious. I remember having to do a shit ton of side quests to not be like 6 levels underlevelled on the german jet fight in TVHM. No other borderlands game before or since has had that issue. It makes the community patch 10000% necessary, sadly
I really wish the drop chances were better, and I've never used mods before in a BL game, but for TPS, I am considering the community patch / something similar.
99% of grinders stop farming the giant ice shuggurath right before they get the zim
I feel like I need to do a special/joke video on getting now. I've put way too much time trying to get this gun to still not have it.
I’m level 16 and somehow have already found 3 legendaries without intentionally farming for them
Then you're the luckiest TPS player I've ever seen. I don't think I've gotten more than 2 before level 16 in all of the runs in my life.
LOL dang I am half way through this exact playthrough right now and I was planning on uploading it, now It’ll look like I copied you lmao

You haven’t done one of these for the first game yet?
I would like to, however, BL1 doesn't have dedicated drops, and it also has really low legendary drop rates, meaning this challenge would be almost impossible. I am looking at doing it as a future video, I would just need to do a lot of research, and even look at mods to help the run.
Rule was no bar so no Excalibur, fact
True. It was also because I thought it was too easy for my first legendary, as farming is way more interesting.
Athena stronk
yees
I beat this game 10 levels too low and it took me 3 hours without going down a single time to beat the vault beast just cos I’m lazy and didn’t want to do side quests
I'm usually 1-2 levels below most bosses, but with all the farming I did, I was overleveled for most of the game.
@@LookIntoGaming yeah legendarys are a pain to farm when they don’t drop
@@LookIntoGaming have you ever thought of making a discord for your community
I thought deck 13.5 was just a reference to Harry potter or whatever it was that had a fractional floor.
Well, the deck 13 1/2 might be a reference, but I was talking about how the final boss level is 13.5 because computers can't process fractions in code.
you can have a Legendary Loadout in BL2 you just have to farm terra for the blood of terra relic.
terra can drop the Slayer class mods the blood the teeth the breath and the hide.
I completely forgot about this at the time of recording. I have never managed to kill Terramorphous, much less farm him. And the Blood of Terramorphous relic is bad compared to most other relics.
"How hard is it it beat the game with the best guns in the game"
Sure, the game is easy once you get the gear, but farming for them is the hard part, especially with TPS' drop rates.
@@LookIntoGaming I mean truth be told the game is easy in general, in fact the first playthrough of every borderlands game is easy. It doesn't get challenging or reach peak fun till you move on to true or ultimate vault hunter mode, every borderlands vet knows that, and then Borderlands 3 with the mayhem modes, icing on the cake
I used to think that TPS was really difficult, but once I started playing on PC, I've gotten way better. I still haven't gotten to OP levels in BL2, but I really liked mayhem in BL3.
i thought deadlift dropped a laser gun? it’s a shock one if i remember correctly i’m probably wrong
Yes, and it's a guaranteed drop. However, it's only a rare gun, not a legendary.
ah thank you
Should be retitled "how EASY it would be to hear the game with all legendaries"
Legendaries do make the game way easier, but the main difficulty in these runs comes from not having a shield for a while and just how long it takes to farm gear, especially in TPS, where the drop rates are way lower than other BL games.
@@LookIntoGaming ahhhhh! I gotcha. I completely thought it was having all legendaries to start with right away and basically just go. But going thru the natural process of finding em the old fashion grind way is a whole another story. Thank u for clarifying!
Finding all the legendaries was a ton of fun and also great because I learnt about some new drop sources, which I can use in later runs!
I've gotten a legendary zx1 from deadlift on normal mode
Then you're extremely lucky. Deadlift doesn't have a dedicated drop (at least in vanilla).
I have a good challenge idea can you beat tps as claptrap
I've played one run as Claptrap, and he's really fun, and his skills aren't bad either, and his skills are extremely fun too! So, Even though he's a "joke" character, Claptrap is still very fun and powerful!
My first playthrough I only got like 1-2 legendaries 😅
Yeah, in most playthroughs I usually only get the 2 guaranteed legendaries from EOS and Jack. The drop rates in TPS are non-existent.
Release the full version, and call it pain.
Well, this was one of the runs I streamed, so it should be in the 'live' tab on my page.
you dont need to grenade jump to get the excalibastard
Ah, it was either the lack of an OZ kit, or just me being bad at the game and not trying the jump more then.
I beat this entire game, without ever finding a legendary
We all have at some point, drop rates in TPS are non-existent.
Doesn't magma rivers drop the sniper in normal mode?
It's a community patch drop!
I didn't even know he had a drop, good thing I didn't try to farm him if it's on the community patch though.
None of the Darksiders drop anything outside of UCP, so that was probably a good idea
why do you call Roland frau?

Yeah, I figured that out after uploading this, I forgot that the Blood of Terramorphous exists, mostly because I've never managed to beat Terra.
@@LookIntoGaming Yea he can be a pain. But a bee shield and an on level fire conference call makes short work of him.

That is one of the runs I have planned, I'm just working on the BL3 and TTWL runs first!
@@LookIntoGaming that would be epic for sure man !! Keep up the good content
option 1 please
Yeah, considering all the help I get from streams, I think this is the best choice, I just need to figure out the counter system for legendaries now.
Please do borderlands 3
(same message as my other reply) Absolutely! That's the run I'm working on right now, I'm just a little addicted to Starfield at the moment. I will start streaming more of the BL3 run over the next few days.
This guy sounds more wholesome than joltz Thats really saying something
Thank you very much! I don't like to compare myself to others, but this comment means a lot to me!
Brodie already cheated at the beginning
Trust me, I wanted Flame Knuckle to drop the Nukem more than anyone else, but just doesn't drop in normal mode, making the Flakker (or Excalibur) the first viable legendary weapon.
@@LookIntoGamingohh I understand my bad
Hey, I don't know if it's just me but I got an ad like every 5 minutes of the video. Made it pretty difficult to watch.
Not sure why that is, I keep them to a minimum when possible.
the pre sequel had potential but honestly sucked so much ass. you had to grind way too much to get legendary weapons and gear, the first and only time i played the game all the way through i literally only got two legendary weapons. most of the loot also dropped way too under leveled to be useful.
The drop rates and end game are the major things that needed to be fixed in TPS, but sadly, 2K Australia shut down, so the game (and the 2 other DLCs) were never truly finished.
you should have included me in the vid
Perhaps chat and comments will be in future videos, the main issue for me is finding them.
