The critics roasted this movie but I found it to be pretty good. Keeping in mind that this was a made-for-television movie in the 1990s with restrictions on budget, special effects, and violence reduction. Great actors and acting.

One of the better alien/syfy movies I seen. It held interest and suspense for start to finish without the use of gore, monsters or CGI. Actors and script, production and editing...all spot on. Must watch for good entertainment. Low budget with extremely high quality. Thanks for the upload.
Same review. I recommend you watch at 1.25 or 1.5 speed if you can hear what they are saying. Worth the watch if you wanna kill time with a pseudo scifi
Absolutely AGREE . CGI _has_ its place , but ONLY if its needed to tell the story . It was used here in just the right proportion to fill in where it was needed , without overwhelming things . The UFO over the house holds up pretty well , I think !
Great watch. Ms. Darlington was a great character. She knew what was what, told it like it was, and took no crap from anybody.

Pre-2K Karen's (the Karen's I grew up with) were a lot tougher, smarter breed.. that's for sure!
What an interesting movie and without any gruesome, ugly monsters! The actors were all just great! Thanks for showing it free.
True, as far as monsters go the humans in this movie weren't too ugly.
That's what pulled it off. Actors were good with decent script. No dumb catch phrases.
I like how they suggested things in some of the fight scenes , without depicting them GRAPHICALLY . The cut-away edits were very tight 👍.
I was very impressed. So glad l saw it. No blood and guts, manic chase scenes, huge explosions, CGI. Just a very well done movie.
There are huge explosions in the first 1 & 1/2 minutes & a maniacal chase immediately after.😆
And no CGI because it was the 90s on television.

Have always loved anything with Dabney Coleman in it. My favorite is, "The Man with One Red Shoe." His straight man comedic talent is priceless.

@@AndyHoke He was the government field supervisor for the agents trying to trap Tom Hanks. My favorite scene is when he is telling one of his field agents to pull the tooth with possible secret microfilm. Agent, "which tooth?" Dabney replies, "yeah....better pull em all "

In my seven decade years, I became a sci-fi fan the first time I watched, “the day the Earth stood still”, and I can say this is not a bad, sci-fi film. I get tired of blood and gore, but I am hooked on the unknown, outer space 🪐 and Aliens.
I turn 70 next month and first watched it in the early 1960s. Day the Earth Stood Still and Them , 1st and 2nd on my favorite sci-fi movies list. In online games I play my game name is or was Klaatu.
The Day the Earth Stood Still was MY first , as a kid - and I was HOOKED !! I re-watched it here just a couple of years ago , and if you go with it - it STILL holds up pretty WELL ! In some ways it helped steer me toward a lifelong love for GOOD Sci-Fi !
I love the running gag about him blowing up that porchlight~ "Quickdraw" 😂
In my77 years of watching horror and sci fi, It is not a bad movie at all ! Believe me, I have seen some really bad ones. Acting is good, concept is good and for a TV movie of this age,with a limited budget it is excellent. Very well worth the watch. Thank you films 4.

I am going to tell you the truth. I got bored and went to Starbucks, came back yet the movie was still going, while enjoying my coffee I changed the movie to 1000000 years before our time. Nostalgy came over me seeing Raquel Welch again.
I'm only watching this cool sci-fi film for two reasons, #1, Christopher meloni, and #2, aliens. Law and order is one of the best tv shows ever made.

Why have I never seen this movie before. LOL I love Mrs. Darlington's character and that Sam Adams has a dog named Jefferson. Also, Mozart and Hank Williams seem like reasonable "universal" music.

This film was made at The NC SCHOOL OF THE ARTS IN 1998, the first film from their film production department in Winston-Salem, NC.. The deputy is an actor, Traci Dinwiddie, that I represented out of Wilmington, NC.. AMAZING!! Quite a blast from my past!!
She didn't mention that the acting school was shut down after this piece of dreck aired.

THAT was a decent movie! It proves you don't have to have glitzy CGI effects to carry the narrative forward.

This movie is better than I expected it to be when I read the blurb.
No nude/sex, no swearing, no unnecessary violence, and an excellent movie with a great plot, and great actors on a limited budget. What to say? It is a great show of competence with no low/stupid/agenda appeal. Congratulations!

A movie in which the protagonist quotes Edmund Burke can't be all that bad; it's enjoyable in fact.
Not bad for a TV movie. C. Meloni is always good. D. Coleman is fun to watch.
Fast paced but the scene changes are well written and relate well, even the plot twists. That's good too so the constant barrage of ads do not interfere too much with the jigsaw puzzle that this movie is; almost all the way to the ending.

90s movies are amazing.
An interesting REMAKE of the original TARGET EARTH, which I saw about 60 years ago, I believe with Richard Denning, just off the top of my head....I'm 80 yrs. old now, and although not bad, it lacks the real suspense of the moment in which the other film was made. Held my interest anyway.
Not bad for an 90's movie made-for-television revisited ! I enjoyed this ! These were usually pretty good , and made a nice bridge between aa pretty well done movie and not having to go to the theater .
Ya never know how these movies are gonna be, but this one was pretty good. I can't say I didn't enjoy it. Thanks for posting!

this movie was very good. It makes you wonder if this could ever actually happen with all the UFO sightings around the world. My only disapointment, was they made Sam a nerdy detective who couldnt shoot proper, or fight proper, that was my only gripe. lol worth watching
They emphasize, "With your father...". I guess his dad is connected in DC and Sam has been getting a free ride.

You have to watch this movie! Kept me in suspense, good twist, good acting, great ending! I get bored if the movie lags on but this kept my attention. A must watch...I love Sci-Fi movies. Just a thought...interesting about the implant I wonder if the mark of the beast will do the same thing!

The mark of the beast will be accepted by many people for the advantage of having food and basic shelter if they have it but afterwards it will cause them unbearable pain. They also wont be able to take it off.

This movie seemed so relevant and interesting at the time (1998). The height of the "X-Files" era. A truly unique time in history, before the smartphone and 100% ubiquitous/always-on personal connectivity.. but not SO pre-historic that people weren't "connected" at an incredible level, never seen before in history! We all thought we were at the pinnacle, with our internet-connected PCs and Laptops able to reach "the web" at lightning speeds thanks to the newly adopted, so-called, "broadband" internet standards. We never imagined that in just a few short years, the ipod then the iphone, would take over the world and make us all truly "connected" 24 hours a day.
The theme music is unmistakably similar to the "Harry Potter" theme, if not the same. I've seen all the H.P. movies and can recognize it instantly.
Alien conspiracy movies are few and far in between, so thank you films 4 you for sharing this film from my childhood. ❤❤❤
Finally a movie which sheds a light on the freaky side of Springfield, Illinois - known to the world as Abraham Lincoln’s home town.
Man this was cool. Had an X-Files vibe to it, especially with the music.

Yes, family X files. Well done and thrilling suspense. Also; the movie; "They Live" John Carpenter film is a good one along these kind of lines. Highly recommended. Classic John Carpenter vehicle and with effects.
"Harrison Bergeron" is a good film to watch, if you have finished this and looking for another good film to watch. A different subject but completely amazing.
