Sleep Token - Take Me Back To Eden [Lyric Video]

Man this album is so good! I listened to it right when it dropped and it Changed Me. I'll try to get the rest out as soon as I can, but many of the rest don't have proper videos yet, and I would prefer to keep all of my vids for a certain album stylistically similar. We'll see if they are a thing soon, but if not, I'll figure something out!
EDIT: Yep, I have a few incorrect lyrics. "I'm in waking hell" should be "I'm a waking hell" and the "I will travel far beyond the path of reason" in the breakdown should be "I have traveled far beyond the path of reason". I use the Apple Music lyrics for all of these, but I may swap over to Genius or such because Apple Music isn't always correct, it seems haha.

I do not own the song, YT please be nice.

    • @@makhevz69 In the old testament, Eden was a paradise in which Adam and Eve lived in total innocence until they ate the forbidden fruit (or "the fruit of knowledge"). Shortly afterwards God expelled them from Eden, and from then on Man suffered as a consequence of it. No matter how much regret and self hatred ("self-sought fury") Man harbors over this, it seems that there's no way for us to return to Eden. We can't undo what's been done, and can't return to that state of total innocence. Hating ourselves doesn't accomplish anything. I think most people could relate to this story on a personal level as well. When we're kids, we live in a state of innocence. We don't yet understand the world and the evils that exist within it. As we grow up, we experience these evils firsthand (both through witnessing it, and enacting it) and we eventually lose this sense of innocence. For me, this gave rise to a sense of self-loathing because I felt as though I had been corrupted in some way, but no matter how much self-sough fury I feel, I can't return to the glory of childhood.

    • @@makhevz69 I suppose it's subjective. To me the line means longing for a time before you really grew up and understood the painful realities of the world, alongside having hurt people and made plenty of mistakes in the process. This line also strikes me deeply as a woman, feeling a good deal of shame surrounding female sexuality and such. Even in modesty and chastity, having hit sexual maturity means often being ogled at, and there's no way to really escape it, and it makes me long for a time when I was a child, and only ever seen as such. In either case, no amount of self-loathing and ruminating about it can really change it or bring back that lost innocence. In a more literal interpretation, in the story of Adam and Eve, Eden was a heavenly place God created for them. When they ate the forbidden fruit of *knowledge*, they lost their innocence and shortly after were cast out of Eden. In that context, you could say that no amount of self hatred could return Man back to the glory of innocence (aka Eden). They want to return , but simply cannot.

Everyday, I feel like this world is foreign and I have a very long way to go to even get near a new normal. This music has a way of reaching my shattered soul as I deal with the destruction of my sibling's life. I wish you the best.

Along with the fan base that showed so much respect and passion for their music. I can honestly say the best live show I've ever been to in my life. Bought tickets late 2023 for Red rocks Denver and found out they're coming to my hometown of Albuquerque New Mexico May 1st bought tickets there too.. ! 3 times in one year.... And I can honestly say they have surpassed all my expectations of what a band should be in my eyes. They are without a doubt after 2 years of listening.... As I also discovered they're older stuff... The police were in disbelief that I walked away with only a bruise on my upper leg from hitting the steering wheel. The other two, my wife walked in on me with a loaded gun to my head and pleaded with me to stop. If she wasn’t there I know I would’ve done it. The second one with a gun, it took me 40 minutes to break the gun lock. By then, I was in my wise mind. But I still put the loaded gun into my mouth. Just couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger. We are here for a purpose, I truly believe it. Hang in there. When the evil thoughts intrude, stay away from alcohol and the “way” you’ve conjured up in your mind. I no longer have a fire arm in my house because I know that’s how I would do it if times seem impossible to overcome. I’m rooting for you! Hang in there and stay strong. You’ve got this. Even if you never see this comment, hopefully it helps someone else too. -Combat Veteran -Purple Heart -PTSD and TBI survivor

  • I like Sleep Token, they are someway covering the void left by Linkin Park (the fact of merging different music styles together). However I noticed that their songs are actually made by consecutive parts with a different genre, rather than a homogeneous mix of different styles. That would give you a huge added value and I think you have the skill to do it.

    @12345beta@12345beta11 ай бұрын
    • They are very deliberate in doing that. They want to tell a story and surprise. If you listen back in their discography you can see how TMBTE is the record on which they are doing this the most. In many songs on Sundowning and TPWBYT they have much more homogeneous tracks - apart from their metal drops at the end. I wouldn't even call that having consecutive parts with different genres, these songs just had a built-up.

  • I have been such a long tool, pucifer, but mostly " A perfect Circle" fan. But, as a diagnosed depressive mother/woman, I have always depended on bands such as"Sleep token" and " Perfect Circle" to express my anxiety and hatred, love. Thank you my daughter Allegra Love for turning me on to this new band!! my beautiful daughter knows that depression and anxiety never go away but the love of music expresses my angst and expresses what I can never do myself. Sleep Token is just an updated version and I absolutely love them!!! It continues, and always shall until I die. But, your melodies will hold me forever!!

    • Oh wow. Exactly the same here. All of my Maynard’s bands. Sleep Token has ministered to my soul in much the same way.

    • 💯 Agree been a lifelong Maynard fan, his art has saved me countless times, that said I feel like this digs just a bit deeper and I can't stop listening and crying. I didn't know how much I needed it
