  • Concerning the "secret" fridge or other appliances: Over here in Germany, we do that a lot and it's not more expensive than a regular appliances/cabinets. It's a made-to-be-hidden fridge, which is a regular fridge without feet and with a door that can be attached to the cabinet door. Same goes for the dishwasher. I really wish we had something similar to this as an option for Sims 4 kitchens.

    @zauberkind4827@zauberkind48273 жыл бұрын
    • Same in Italy! Built in appliances are pretty common 😅

      @oOEsperiaOo@oOEsperiaOo3 жыл бұрын
    • There's definitely CC for that if you're into this kind of thing. I think creator Harrie always includes these "hidden" appliances to match his custom countertops into his works

      @wendywendy8157@wendywendy81573 жыл бұрын
    • I was so confused by that, because I have seen very few German homes that don't have built-in appliances. I feel like the non-built-ins are even more expensive (at least when it comes to fridges). I know there is CC for it and I love CC, but it makes it complicated or impossible to share your builds on the Gallery with lots of people and to me building is useless if I can't share my builds..

      @BlueberryCupcake0404@BlueberryCupcake04043 жыл бұрын
    • @@wendywendy8157 Thanks for the rec, I'll keep that in mind. But contrary to what I've done in Sims 1 to 3, I'm pretty much playing the Sims 4 without CC, just using a few mods. So having at least one option in the game would be awesome.

    • There is one still in my parent's house, but it gets used for food all the time. We played board games at dinner growing up so the serving dishes got put there after everyone filled their plate the first time. I have a physical issue from a childhood surgery that makes High-waisted pants uncomfortable and unflattering and I might be the only one happy that trend is ending. I mean super low-riding low-rise jeans weren’t great either but it was easier to find mid-rise jeans during the low-rise era then it was during the high waist era, so I might be holding a grudge.

I think low rise aren’t that bad- but back then clothing like that only helped to enforce the “you can only look good if you’re skinny” mentality, and I think that’s why the fell out of trend so harshly in the 2010’s.

    • In the US, it’s a standard desire to have a modern new home with new electrical and plumbing when you hit a certain socioeconomic class- buying a home built post WWII is a risk because our quality of life here is low in poorer communities and the trade off of a cheap old (and often partially prefabricated) home tends to be endless expensive repairs. On the flip side, heritage homes (like in the 1700s like you stated) are nearly always owned in part by the county they are in and can; depending on where you live, limit what you are allowed to do to them because they are deemed historically important. My aunt lives in a historical home built in 1807 and can’t change the structure at all even though it’s hers. (The trade off is significantly lower taxes). So it’s almost always more desirable for average middle class families to build a new modern home.
