Great Great video I learned a lot about these interesting people.
I did a road trip in 2018 through the exact same route to Lhasa. Road condition was pretty good, all paved road, towns along the road provided good supply. Biggest challenge is both vehicles and drivers suffering oxygen shortage due to rapid altitude climbing. I experienced headache all the way as long as altitude over 5000meters. Gorgeous scenery, and extremely long trips, some hazards from falling rocks, you meet people from everywhere took one month off just to experience Himalayas. Locals are way richer than i expected, making good money from ranching. I would definitely travel again.
KOOL!!
Welcome again!
these fools are making idols but how will these idols help the uneducated peoples when these idols can't even save themselves. How foolish are these tibetans that's why they are still under chinese rule.
Lets take a moment to appreciate the camera crew for risking their lives to take this video
Good call. The entire crew and production team deserve kudos for their work.

Roads are roads, but it's the story of the people that's fascinating. The fantastic scenery is a bonus.

Absolutely true, that’s what makes every episode so unique.

These are the type of shows I wish they had on TV. Mostly garbage on TV now a days!!!
I second you Boss! 👌
Tip.dont watch TV most is shite

Agree bro.

The cameramen did a good job capturing the spectacular sceneries, but it’s hard to imagine how breathtaking it is to be there in person.

It could be literally breathtaking at that altitude
Some new shortcuts and tunnels has been built since this documentary is made, the 318 route is much safer nowadays. Much gratitudes to this document and the crew, it's always important to remember the hard work of every common people that contributed to our better and better lives.
Yes the Biden/Harris communists here in the States are spending six trillion, but we aren't seeing any betterment in our lives. Maybe after Beijing takes full control ennhh ?
@@deconteesawyer5758 It seems you don't understand the concept of "communism" as you're just putting that term wherever you feel like it. How fast do you expect an infrastructure plan effects to take place ? Please use some logic.

I suppose why they’re not wearing seatbelts is because they’re pretty much useless on a road like that. Probably smarter not to wear them just in case the truck starts heading for the edge it’s quicker to jump out if possible 🤔
😃
Yes, you can see the cars are driving really slow in this video, most accidents are caused by nature disaster.
it makes sense though.
If you need to get out fast locked seat belts will an extra obstacle
@@zheyuxiang5596 or stupidly leaving your driver-side door open or driving on the wrong side of the road around bends. The way these folks drive seem to cause most of the problems.
This road was once called Death Road, but it has been improved greatly, it is not that dangerous any more. This road is one the most beautiful roads in the world, I really don't think the film captured its beauty even thr thrill moments when you are through a mountain pass or a landslips section. I have traveled both south and north routes of this 318 roads, it gave me memories that will stay with me with all my life.
Finally a pleasant narrator 🙏🙏🙏
Adrian Dynbar has a lot to learn from this narrator 🙏
One of my favourite series. This was what we call great documentary
It seems to be the best road among other deadliest roads in this channel.
To be fair, China has the best road among all counties in deadliest roads series
China also made those low-quality roads in African countries shown in this series.
Regardless you can never make a mountin road safe enough.
Agreed lol 😝
@@shaungaming7531 They never show the good roads. They only show the mud and dirt tracks cause those are the dangerous ones. If you look on top gear's trip in Africa, there are amazing highways there by the Chinese.

The Dangerous roads series of documentaries has been a real eye-opener on the levels of poverty that far too many people live with. They should be mandatory viewing for the people who cry because Daddy bought them the wrong colour of car for their 18th birthday. They have also been an interesting window into parts of the world that are not on the regular documentary makers' watch list. Thank you for making these available.
Where did you see poverty in this documentary? People living their lives different than yours don't equal poverty.🙄🙄
Just for fun, look up the poverty rate in China according to the world bank. ;)
@@afunguynamedkawhi7959 Check the others as in Somaliland, Bolivia, etc... I agree there is much less 'poverty' in this episode. These Chinese people very impressive in many ways.

You are supposed to use gears to slow down on trucks. He wasn't experienced enough and relied completely on brakes. If you do they WILL fail. ALL good truck drivers KNOW this. There's too much weight to rely on brakes alone. If in Oz he would be sacked for incompetence.

When the rare occation of politics and people's needs coincide, good things happen
just imagine in traveling that without roads or pathways. Ancient times with mountainous areas are crazy
@Avatar Aang Well, in this case, lot of those trucks driivers have to change their job. Railway will be faster, reliable and probably even cheaper.
@@gg.youlubeatube6249 Their job might change from doing the long-distance hauling to transporting the cargo between towns and the railway by then. The market is generally good at adjusting
That’s true, when the economy is vibrant, many jobs will be created. But I think most of the drivers will be retired when the railroad is completed. I think it’s high speed trains and the railway go mainly on tunnels and bridges, not easy construction.
Keep them coming, watching from Kenya

I think this film was made several years ago, the road to Tibet is much better now.
One of the best channel with a lot of interesting and worth watching materials. Thank You FD for your hard work for us
Drove this road twice in the same family car, the first time in 2010 and the second in 2019. Over the years it had been vastly improved which was so evident in the trip of 2019. As I remember there was only some 60km of road works as of June 2019. It could hardly be called dangerous compared with the same road in 2010.

Great work, awesome crew and good documentary! Watching from the Philippines.
A railway is under construction along this route. Two sections from two ends opened already. This will the most difficult railway in the world. There will be some very long tunnels and high bridges. Some tunnels are more than 50 kms.
That’s where the Tunnel Borring machine is making money
Actually not so much, both the construction company and the boring machine company are stated owned, which means owned by the people, we invest it, we buildit, we benefit from it. Since this railway is the most difficult one in the world, it still has a few years to go, the good news is that 543km of it is in use out of the 1858km in total.
Well I’m back at it again. These documentaries get me through my morning shift smoothly 👍👍 good morning everyone 🙂

*This is among the very best videos to be found on KZhead! . . .*
Again nice video.. True story....
I am now officially an addict of these dangerous roads documentaries! It all started with a short clip I chanced on recently on Facebook - of a Burundian cyclist cruising down the highway with a 200kg load of bananas. I was fascinated. So I immediately went into a hot pursuit of the original/full footage, which landed me on this awesome channel here on KZhead. Since then, which is only a couple of days now FYI, I have never looked back. I am binging on these thrilling and at the same time eye-opening real-life stories. I also draw many lessons from them: Mostly of how fortunate I am and how grateful I should be to be living a fairly better life than that of many people out there. It hits my heart very differently (sob). God bless all the people out there who go through a lot of struggle to make ends meet. And, loads of respect to the entire Free Documentary production crew (including the researchers, script writers, editors, camera crew, THE narrator - what's his name, by the way? - and of course plus each and every person who features on the show that is willing to let us in on their respective lives). It is indeed TEAM WORK! Many thanks and please keep producing more of these.
I'm the same..
Thank you very much indeed for this very wonderful video.

Have been watching your series for a few days, incredible job 👏.
