How To Propagate A Purple Passion Plant ( Tutorial - Results )

2018 ж. 28 Мау.

I show you how I propagated my purple passion plant in order to multiply them and have more plants. This is a pretty simple and safe method, if you find that your plant is becoming to leggy or vine like, this is also a great way to promote a more bushy growth.

  • My purple passion died and I had one tiny measly leaf left...well I put it in water and it started growing roots and before I knew it there was like 3-4 new leaves! I propagated my purple passion FROM ON LEAF!😅

  • A small artist's brush or make-up brush is good for dusting off that loose soil when planting cuttings or other small plants. I use on for my tiny succulents, too.

  • As they mature, they like to branch out and vine. If you want them to remain bushy and less leggy, keep it pruned. It hates water on the foliage, so water carefully. It prefers bright indirect light, and moderately moist soil. I believe the more humidity and sun, the more vibrant and lush the velvety purple hairs become. Thanks for the prop tips!

  • You can actually just put your cutting back in the soil and they will root. If you do use the water method you don't have to leave them for so long...once you see roots...put them in soil. These are sooooooo easy to propagate. Also to avoid water on the leaves that cause mold...put your pot in a dish that will allow you to put water in the lower dish so the roots get plenty of water..but the leaves don't get wet.

My best friend found 2 of these hidden under a pallet of other plants almost dead in Walmart. She gave me one and I managed to get it fairly large but hers unfortunately died. She didn't realize it was an inside plant and forgot it outside during a freeze! Now I can get her another one. We think they look like plants from a fairy garden, so whimsical and colorful. I'm going get a new plant started for her now! Thank you!!

  • You must NOT let any water get on the leaves..... NO MISTING... Watering the plant from the bottom is better. The water ON the leaves cannot dry because of the tiny velvet-like hairs that cannot absorbe the water, making the plant prone to leaf rot and may attract bugs. The use of a humidifier for your indoor plants is a PLUS especially if you have air conditioning during the summer as the dry air can become a problem for your house plants. This IS a lovely plant to have. Good information on this. Thanks.

But they are also beautiful, so it wouldn't hurt to leave a few of them on. And by the way, when you're making new plants they're not "clones" are just babies. You're growing new babies. Clone sound really technical and kind of cold. But otherwise, a good video.

  • Yo my guy you only need 2 growth nodes! Top for growth and the bottom node for rooting! It is literally only an inch long and roots just as quickly as the large ones!

    @KidguY27@KidguY274 жыл бұрын
    • I see how yours died being left too close to the water but if you get 70 cent neoprene inserts at a garden supply center and clean out keureg coffee cups you can put your cuttings into that and cut the top of a water bottle and put holes in the bottom of the disposable coffee cup Insert. Then fill the water bottle up to the level of the stem obviously and it’ll keep moisture away from the leaves :) also you don’t even need to leave the leaves on just the growth top technically but if you do leave a leaf it’ll grow quicker granted you can keep moisture off of it!

    • Any of those woody small bumpy growths on the vine part seem to be nodes with potential to start rooting. So one could take advantage of that when picking spots to propagate by cutting.

  • Really wish people would stop using the word "clone" when they're talking about propagation. It's NOT a clone. It's a cutting, period! A clone is where you take genetic material from the plant (or other biological life) at the molecular level and put it into another plant (or other biological life) to create a replica.
