My healthy, athletic seventeen years old son caught Covid-19 in March at an international competition in Arizona. He now has permanent damage to his heart and lungs. As much as he has fought to come back; he will never be 100% again. Trumps words are a slap in the face to those who have died and those that survive.
Sending love and healing to your son and your family. You are 100% correct, he is being so offensive to those who have been killed or seriously effected by this horrid disease. The treatment he had is also not available for the average American. If it was maybe more would have survived. I’m not American, live in the U.K. but have family in the USA. May I suggest that another Amendment be made to the Constitution, specifying a minimum standard for anyone to qualify as a candidate for the presidency. This might include being able to read and write to a 14-yr old's standard, being able to absorb information in written and in verbal presentation, being able to speak in coherent sentences, being able to explain the structures of the American government system, and having committed to memory all parts of the Constitution. Other examinations might include checking mental stability and the person's understanding of what 'of the people, for the people, by the people' must mean in practice - e.g. facilitating, not subverting the electoral process, and not attempting to ram through a biased Judge while cancelling desperately needed pandemic relief to all people and all states. Just a thought.

Am I the only one who prefers seeing Seth broadcast from the attic of his house? It felt so quirky: the funky, little door, the Sea Captain, the threat of murder wasps. It felt like we were kids again, and we were all hanging out with Seth for summer vacation.
As an EX-Hospital worker, I feel for all the "Essential" staff that gets exposed to this man and his virus.
To ALL my nursing and medical colleagues who have been screamed at, struck, spit on, slammed into walls by MAGAts…it still is horrendous how many have quit their jobs as they’re exhausted from such encounters. Many have committed suicide as they’re beaten down by Trumpistas.

I think part of the problem is that Americans are taught that the USA is the greatest country in the world from early childhood. If that’s what your taught, that’s what you believe. The problem is that people stop looking inside to see how the society is crumbling around them and they stop looking for solutions to problems that exist. I don’t know that any country can claim to be the greatest country in the world. Every country has problems that they struggle with and they will not deal with these problems until they recognize them. A Japanese proverb: The person who knows everything is misinformed. By extension the country that believes it is the greatest is misinformed

I'd be tempted to say some of the nordic European countries, or maybe New Zealand deserve that title now, I dunno. I'm Canadian, and most Canadians have this superiority complex over Americans (which is admittedly a bad thing), but we at least realize that there are countries like those nordic ones that still have higher standards of living than our own, we aren't blind to it. I think it's just the difference between being proud of your country vs. blind nationalism.
