Today is an extremely exciting and historic day at AustraliaZoo! We are thrilled to welcome our Sumatran elephants to their new Elephantasia habitat. Guests can experience and fall in love with our gorgeous elephants and learn about our conservation work protecting this critically endangered species. In the past 25 years, over 70% of their wild habitat has been destroyed in Sumatra, leaving less than 2500 Sumatran elephants in existence. They need our support and protection now more than ever. We have worked closely with other organisations to build an elephant hospital in Sumatra to support this important species. We love Sumatran elephants with all our hearts and can’t wait to share them with you. We’re so proud to be continuing Steve’s legacy and his mission to protect elephants forever. 💚🐘

I really appreciate Australia Zoo so much. It makes me so proud of being an aussie hahah, it's really really amazing that we really make it a point to value conservation & protection of wildlife instead of the extortion & profit of these animals, as seen in many cases from other zoos overseas
You’re so right! I live in the USA and it makes me sad when zoos give the animals such little space it’s cruelty. They treat the animals so great there and the Irwin’s genuinely seem like such good people. Australia zoo seems amazing
Congrats!!! Our Oklahoma City Zoo is part of an elephant breeding program and has a baby due this spring! We're so excited for her or his arrival-zoo staff are keeping the gender a surprise! Elephants are such amazing, beautiful, peaceful creatures! Maybe some day our zoos can work together to help preserve this incredible animal! I loved going to AUSTRALIA Zoo and being able to feed them Bananas cut up Apple's ! The three elephants stood beside each other and u could take the food from the bucket and hand it to them they would take the food with their trunks!

I love it. I have an elephant & rhino miniature figurine glued to my car dash. I'll be adding another one from your shop when i visit during my xmas visit, now that the QLD border is open 😍😍 I might even do another animal encounter. I've already done the meerkats and rhino. Those were awesome experiences 😍😍

Amazing habitat! They are fortunate to get a peaceful life there. Lots of lucky people that get to see them. It's also amazing remembering parents kidding about naming their child after a croc and now seeing her with a beautiful baby:) Chandler is also my husband and sons name. :) small world bless you all this holiday season.

If that is the case then I will delete the previous message because apparently people like to accuse and moan that a simple New Zealander said thanks for taking a dearest elephant to look after.
Rachel, sadly when you wrote your original post just a few months ago.... was that Burma had not left our kiwi shores at that time as was planned... There was a few hiccups re covid and and that meant they went to plan B and she was supposed to be going there next week. I only posted so you are now aware that she never went as you believed she had already gone. I am certainly not moaning at you.... this is about what Australia Zoo has done to our Burma. Now poor Burma is all left alone by herself.... and is likely to be all depressed again like she was until Ak Zoo got in Anjalee. Anjalee is now in Taronga Zoo for breeding... and left a few weeks ago... So please do not delete your post.... you posted in all good faith that Australia Zoo was taking Burma. Australia Zoo has 4 young elephants and Burma was going to be their matriarch and teach them... Now Ak Zoo has to find somewhere else.... this could take months if not years.

Elephants are so amazing. I've never seen one before, except in pictures and videos of course, since the zoo here in Vancouver got rid of their elephants back in the 80s or 90s I believe. It's on my bucket list to visit Australia Zoo and see elephants in real life someday. They are such playful creatures!
Why not just go to Africa where they live in the wild? They even live merely an hour outside most major cities there.
