I was about to under go the pinnacle of my Botswana Trip! I had met back up with Blaine and we were ready to tackle the Makgadikgadi Pans and make our way to Khubu Island, and Overlanding Mecca! With our Jimny's fueled up and ready to go, all that lay between us was some mud and some pans; what could go wrong?

"Nature has a way of showing you that you're not the king." Brilliant....Much respect brother...
perfect holiday..... no woman ... just ride and drinks.... and stay away from coronna virus...
1) You never have enough water 2) When it comes to recovery gear never leave it at home 3) when you stuck relax and think about a viable plan to get out of trouble. And no one is as strong as they think they are and this goes for all. If you back injury was a bit worse you would have been in seriuos trouble. 4) You never have enough water period. 5) Invest in a winch. 6) Pans are great fun but dont play on it. People have been stuck for days on then. You are lucky those gent came to help you Botswana learned me all of this in the hard way when we lived there Loved your storie. Really great and great story teller. Keep it going
Thanks Jacques! It’s true. There is never enough water 😂 life teaches us all at the end of the day 👌🏻
@@RoamOverlanding At the very least you can get a hand winch, for light cars like yours it should do it fine. They're sold as comealongs here, who knows what over there.
agree to this big time. recovery recovery recovery
It's not only your adventure that fascinates. Whenever there is a latest gen *Jimny* involved, it will always worth seeing, especially if it went for proper offroading, let alone with proper auxiliaries. Well done, mate.
Complacency and over confidence in the ability of your vehicle was what caught you lads out this time. Thankfully you got out of the situation and home alive with perhaps a short term injury. Always respect nature and the environment you travel in. It may be stunning and amazing, but it can kill you without hesitation.
Indeed it can.
Agreed.
Agreed. It’s all fun, but good to maintain respect for nature too. It bites sometimes. Haha
Our first night of Bush camping on the Hunters route near Panda was an experience. We camped near a watering hole and had Ellies all around. We set up camp and saw a hare bouncing about. Started a braai fire and were all just relaxing when all of a sudden a hyena showed up. Needless to say the braai was canceled as we didn't need him and his pack roaming around camp. Then we saw all manner of eyes in the dark and with us being newbies to the whole wild camping thing our imaginations started running around a bit. On a more serous note though we could have been in more danger from Ellies than hyena as I woke the next morning and heard them bathe. I looked out and saw a group of 5 or 6 splashing about. Had one decided we were too much of an intrusion they could have trampled us there. Never the less it was an epic experience. Batswana are the friendliest people I know of. If anyone goes to Botswana please do not stock up in SA and go over there to holiday, you're doing yourself a disservice as fuel and meat is much cheaper there than here, just shop around a bit. Their shops are well stocked and you can buy all you need there. Just go and visit Bots😁 as their logo states "Everyone falls in love with Botswana, so will you"
Hot chairs in the shade, cold beers with buddy. Beautifully stuck there. So impressed with the panorama view!
Appreciate you brother. Love from India. ❤
It's the best trip I've ever dreamed of.
Well the kindest thing i can say is that we learn by our mistakes.i'd suggest that if one wants to play around and learn the limits of the vehicle then one should go to an off road centre for play day. I don't enjoy getting bogged because recoveries can be hot, dirty and sometimes dangerous. When I get bogged I regard it as a failure and I always learn the lessons. I also learn from videos like this one :-)
This is a kind of freedom. Keep going! Greetings from Indonesia! 🤘🏽👏🏻
Wow brother !! I watched all of your videos and they were all great !! But this one is so mesmerizing it was like watching a bbc documentary. Thumbs up brother and Looking forward to the next episode.
Nice one guys, as a citizen of Botswana we highly appreciate such videos. Please invite more of your friends to visit as well after this Corona virus ends.
Our pleasure! I am definitely going back!!
@@RoamOverlanding that would be great because when you go to Okavango Delta you pasby Maun, which is where I am. You never know we might bump into each other.
in overlanding,Nature has a way of showing you that you're not the king! ha ha ha!
Enjoying your life fully😍 Everything feels perfect😇 Love from India💚
I also from 🇮🇳 and I'm enjoying do this video ..
so pity that jimny are no more delivered in Europe... hopefully we have one :-)
The view at 10:13 is mind blowing. I just paused at this moment and started Listening to Interstellar's "No time for caution".
The perfect combo 🤟🏻
Esta muy bonito este jimny no me canso de ver y volver a ver los videos entretienen mucho
Very very jealous. Well done for persevering … lovely car, lovely country
Excellent episode, the whole series was a pleasure. Hard lesson learned for sure on making room for the traction boards no matter what. I totally understand the struggle of packing a small car for a long trip and I too have at times chosen to leave certain things behind that I felt I wouldn't need...of course it *always* turns out to be the one item I did in fact need. :-) Beautiful work as always, this series really took things to a whole new level. Looking forward to your future adventures!
Thanks bud! Have a wonderful festive season!!
I am sold on Jimny, it will be pretty sweet to have some adventures with it in East Africa.
Definitely!
Really loved watching this. It’s been fantastic and inspirational. Definitely want a Jimmny now and to go explore. Thank for a fantastic set of videos
great footage. I have Jimny too, but it's old, 96 Jimny.
Absolutely amazing ! And terrifying. Great shots and filmography. Good luck guys. Have a great Xmas and here's to 2020 !
Man, you have a fantastic style of story telling! Keep the great great work :D Perfect for watching to relax and get super inspired.
Love your adventure experience man stay safe and be prepared for extreme overlanding.
Color correction is seriously on point
Love watching your videos. Makes our dream of seeing Africa a much more reality. Thanks for the great videos.
Such an Epic adventure, beautiful cinematography. Really well done!
Hi you, wonderful places, the just the view a have on Bologna’s mountain.... Mauro- Bologna- Italy
The Kalahari is Andrew St.Pierre Whites favourite place in the world...and he's been around. Can't wait to visit.
How lucky for someone to find you on the plain.
There is no better teacher than experience, so you learned your lesson got humbled by nature and luckily nothing too bad happened so you still can go on. Next time you'll be better prepared and have those recovery boards. Other than that, hail the Jimnys for their persistence and thank you for yet another great adventure 👍
Hey Ronny; this is the exact sentiment of this whole film! Thank you for seeing that! We dont all start out experienced masters!
I agree , thank you.
Really admire your perseverance and doing the amazing trip.
Epic! Greetings from Uganda.
I’m really enjoying this series man! Lekker!
I love this brave guy!!! Such an inspiration nd source of courage!!! May God always protect u,bon voyage!
❤️
Awesome dude maybe it's a wonderful memorie of your life but I love this episode more than my crush 😂😂😂😂. Have a great life enjoy the every moment and move on
You my friend are an amazing person. Much respect for you....
🙏🏻 thank you for the kind words!!
You’re videos are epic. Thanks for creating them.
Real adventure amazing
Well done man! Definitely keen to get my wheels dirty in Botswana one day
I have just been to Kubu island, starting at Nata and emerging at Letlhakane, a trip which took two days. One thing which needs to be mentioned for the benefit of others is that the access road is pretty terrible and will be impassable when wet. At the southern end of it sections traverse the salt flats and one risks severe bogging like yours. This isn't a trip for novices.
Thanks for the tour, I lern by your mistakes. It was very interesting
I’m sold 👏🏾👏🏾 Defs visiting the pans this year
Wonderful trip in a very capable car,
Great footage
Fantastic adventure. Thank you for sharing.
Epic. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Colombia south America
thank you so much for bringing this experience to us
Thank you for watching!
Love your videos. You are a good guy and angels are guarding you 👍🏻 Cheers from Turkey 🇹🇷
Weer een mooi avontuur,geweldig
Just listened to your first podcast and I get where you are going with your videos. Geat job and keep doing what you are doing. You are showing off the capabilities of the Jimny quite well with scenery and action thrown in. Load capacity and distance without a convoy are always going to be a problem for them. Good thing you were out there with your buddy. I am sure you have learnt a few things on this trip alone. Keep up the great videos.
Great video, those beers and that view...feels like i'm there!
I just want to go back!!
Greetings from Brazil. Fantastic trip! Thanks for sharing. :)
Well done guys.... Really enjoyed it 👍
Glad you made it out just fine. Totally appreciate the amount of work it takes to film all that. Positioning the camera, the vehicles, running back to get the camera, different angles so on and so forth.... Good job on the edit and narration. It was really enjoyable watching it! Look forwards to more.
Thanks for understanding the effort that goes into this! It makes it all worth while when it’s properly appreciated 👏🏻
Thanks for another great episode love to see more trips...I live in Botswana if you plan another trip please let me know so i can tag along or if you need info...Cheers
Impressed with both the scenery and the Jimnys performance, still waiting for delivery of mine and sorcing some accessories, looking for somebody who can supply lower low range gearing only, any ideas, many thanks, driving in wild Africa looks like the ultimate offroad experience.
Again...an awesome video of how beautiful Africa truly is. Now you need a drone for some overhead filming.😁
Oh man! I wish!!
@@RoamOverlanding Merry Christmas...make it a gift to yourself 😁
Now that's an epic epic experience....
I really enjoyed watching this one. 👏👏👏
That drag race look really fun.... 😀
What an adventure you all had. Very, very much enjoyed watching. Great news about the website, I can't wait to take a look when I get a little downtime.
what a vlog outstanding i found it better than any other show that are broadcasted in discovery just outstanding sir loved each and every moment of the trip it seemed that i was with u in the lovely jimmy and enjoying each and every part of the trip
Got a Jimny recently and can't wait to do trips like that!
Video Well made, adventure well good! Keep up the good work 👍💪
OMG man. That reminds me to my first trip to Africa I was driving a Toyota Hilux 2Wd and I stucked in Makgadikgadi, I spent 8 hours there. That terrain looks firm but is a TRAP
👍👍👍👍👍
beutifullllllll lots of fun------great trip
Nice trip and video format. Keep rocking bro!
Its amazing how things work. Happy, nice, smooth adventures are only remembered vaguely. Its the hard, challenging, and dare i say... chaotic adventures that will be remembered and relished in vivid detail for the rest of our lives. You’ll remember this one mate 👍 And i hope you gave those boys who saved you a beer 🤙🤙🤙
We even decided to pull the steaks out the bottom of the fridge! :D We had a proper feast to say thanks!
Roam Overlanding Nice one buddy 👍 Love the shirtless vlog bomb your mate did 🤣 lol Top stuff.
Great piece! I’m really enjoying your journeys and to ride along with you on your trips. One thing I was surprised though was that you did not bring your recovery tracks. I would thing it was a basic piece of equipment. Nevertheless keep up with your great cinematography and content!
you guys are awesome
You’re awesome
'vlakvark' boet😂💪💪 sick vid.
Teach this soutie 😂
Love you jimny
Great video mate happy Christmas to you and your family
Loving your life bro!
Mate - I love your videos! Keep up the great work! 🇦🇺
Thanks for the awesome video/series!
13:37 was cool. Just loving it 🤙
Thanks for watching Ozhu!
Good video, thanks for sharing ✌
Was in the area over the weekend.... Couldn't risk it with my Prado without my gear! Was at elephant sands on Thursday.... Did south to north through Kubu this past September.... Thanks for sharing💪 my bots
Such an epic place! I think with all the rain since my trip, the pans are a no go until the rainy season is over hey?
Oh the memories! Thank you for this and the video! August 2016 we attempted to drive from Kubu Island to Nata via the SaltPans and also got stuck. 4 Vehicles on their chassis. Took us approximately 8-9 hours to get all 4 vehicles and trailer unstuck. It was legit one my favorite and best overlanding experiences in Botswana!
@Roam Overlanding - Dude, if you ever get the opportunity, go to the Moremi! Just do it! One of the best experience of my life. We went from the Moremi to Xhakanaxa , to Kwai, to Savuti and then we found this kickass(probably hardest longest sand trail of our lives) to Kasane. And then end your trip at Chobe River Lodge with a ice cold St.Louis while you watch the Elephants take a dip in the Chobe River! It's one for the books! Looking forward to your next series
Damn! You make me want to pack and go tomorrow! Doing the Moremi is on the list and hopefully I’ll get to do it this year!
@@RoamOverlanding I'll just double check with my dad, but we used a booking agency to get spots there 2 years ago, since booking is a Pain! Might help you a bit in the future. The first year we just winged it and pitched up at camps and were generally lucky with getting camping spots. Pretty sure they'd always accommodate for a Jimny!
Goood work! Wanna see more of this stuff! 😎👍
Thanks bud! Will be working on it for sure 👌🏻
Great video.
Really want one of those Jimny's..
Well done on showing everyone how not to travel off the beaten path in Africa. Lack of drinking water is inexcusable.
We still had about 20L of water in the rooftop water tank for an emergency; the water just needed to be boiled.
Lesson 1 : bring recovery boards. Lesson 2 : always bring more water than you think you need.
💯
and beer
I like Jimny👍👍👍
Great vid, u really living my dream
I need this car in my life! Excellent content, thanks for sharing guys!
Thanks for watching!
Nice one dude!!!
Wow, that was epic!! Love that little car. Great shots also. Greetings from Denmark.
I wish one day I could have a jimny on my own. Like ur vlogging adventure. Take care always.
You can do it!
Amazing story!
Thank you!
Roam Overlanding do you think mud terrain would have take you out, without help?
Very tricky to say, but I think so.
dope video.. merry xmas
Damn.... Murphy's law hit you hard. All was going so well then bam, mud in your face. Glad u didnt do it alone and Blaine was with you as well as your guardian angels coming along. All in the name of experience. Your videography is awesome and i enjoy your commentary. The beauty of the pan's is something you have to experience one self. Glad you safely home. Looking forward to your next trip. Please introduce yourself in the start of the vids as i dont think anyone knows your name. Ps. If you ever want to do bots again I'll gladly join.👍 tou
Yup! Uncle Murphy god us good!! 😂
@@RoamOverlanding your name pls
Ahmed Bhana my name is Adrian 👍🏻 you can also find me on Instagram @roam_overlanding
@@RoamOverlanding hi adrian👍
Just loving it bro 💗😊
What adventure! Congratulations guys. I almost bought a Jimmy last year and end up buying a Pajero 3.2 di-d . I should have seen your video before ;)
The pajero is a seriously capable vehicle; honestly I would consider it over the Jimny especially the "Montero" the 2000-2005 shape in a short wheel base, is a beaut!
Awesome series buddy. I have traveled a lot to Pandamatenga in BW. Never had the chance to sleep by Elephant sands. Or saw the kubu island.
Definitely worth checking out
