  • I had to watch this before work. I was waiting for this to come out. Your 100% correct by saying Dynon is a complete package at a much lower cost then others. I should know. You flipped me into Dynon from Garmin and I just love the Dynon. I did not get 2 screens and did not need a new COM/GPS I already have one. Dynon was great to talk to and work with. A couple of my other buddies are having some issues with Aspen and Garmin was just expensive but I was willing to pay for garmin until I saw your panel and Dynon in action. Thank you again for saving me tons of $$$$ and a great product. Keep the videos coming. We love them.

  • Great explanation on cost. I just got a quote for Garmin with the same set up meaning 750, Audio panel, new transponder 2 screens with labor ended up being over 100k and that was with a discount because I got 2 screen. I also didn't need a new panel. Labor was a killer at 25k plus alone. SO a good deal and like you said Dynon had to go through the same cert processes as garmin and the others. I will be getting other prices and will be checking out Dynon. Aspen is just not want im looking for and they seem to be having more problems lately more then ever. Thanks and keep the videos coming.

  • If you broke down the cost to install all the key components separately it would probably be more than your overall installation cost or close to it. The thought of 2 10" screen with everything included at the cost of just a NAV/Com from the other companies is just crazy.

  • Going with Dynon seems to be the best bet until the others get off their high horse and start lowering prices. Garmin is out of control with prices and the labor at garmin dealers are usually high. Great choice and my flight club is considering Dynon now. We will be emailing you. Thank you again and keep up the videos.

  • My Mooney M20C needs a new panel. I received a quote from a very reputable avionics shop for all Garmin G3X… total package was $116k. I am now looking at getting a quote for Dynon Skyview, with a good nav/com. $60k panel is doable on a $70k airplane.

  • Dynon needs to get the main display certified for navigation as well. It makes no sense that a little crappy nav unit costs way more than the main display that already has the functionality. It's only legacy thinking to have multiple instruments. It's trivial functionality that the main display can easily do. It gives them an advantage over garmin and saves you a lot in the installation. Also the display should be double size. They are missing obvious opportunities to defeat garmin and the others.

    @DanFrederiksen@DanFrederiksen2 ай бұрын
  • Thanks for the great video. I've been thinking about upgrading my KNS80 to a used Garmin 530W. The total cost estimate was $11,400.. No extra sensors or displays. You can pretty much figure the labor for installing anything is about the same as the cost of whatever you are buying... So, just multiply by two.. and you have your total cost. Not much of any way to get around it.

  • As a measurement system guy, Dynon's sensor and wire harness prices are VERY reasonable! Most DAQ/sensor companies try to charge $150 for a USB to RS485 cable. Let alone high quality data/power cables for aviation. Makes me really appreciate Dynon not trying to rake customers over the coals.

  • After all upgrades and a few hundred hours, how much of that investment is left as equity? I know you can't really refurb a plane and make a profit, but much of that value sticks with the plane long term. I'm curious what that percentage would look like.

  • As an investment, do you think you’ve increased the value of your Mooney, dollar for dollar?

    @kenellis2410@kenellis24103 жыл бұрын
    • Ken Ellis Yes. You will never get 100% back but most of it. Also planes are rising in value as long as you take care of your plane and maintain it. I was lucky and got a good price for my plane and all the bones are in excellent condition with low time on the engine and the prop.

    @kinderjoe@kinderjoe Жыл бұрын

  • What is the requirement for the D10A? I have an experimental with Dual HDX and to make it IFR, all I need to add is a IFR certified GPS.

    @scottmiller4711@scottmiller47113 жыл бұрын
    • I had to have a back up instrument (D10A) to be legal. You probably don’t need a back up in the Experiment field.

      @PilotFun101@PilotFun1013 жыл бұрын
    • @@PilotFun101 Not sure what references you researched I looked at the FAA regs and contacted both AOPA and EAA and they all agreed. Regardless of platform Certificated or Experimental, back up instruments are only required if you use the aircraft for commercial purposes (carrying passengers) plus your second HDX would have satisfied that requirement especially since you have a battery on both, that battery will also power the ADAHRS and EMS modules. You don't even need a "NAV" radio as every VOR approach has an associated GPS approach in fact there are less than half the number of VOR approaches then GPS in this country. Of course you have many pilots out there that think they are required or are "just in case" but as a veteran airline pilot told me. Flying single engine IFR is the biggest risk, not losing all the electronics in the plane...

    @unapologetic7900@unapologetic79003 жыл бұрын
    • Unfortunately every panel upgrade you do might way out the cost of the airplane itself. But if your plane has great bones, paint, engine, and interior it’s worth the investment for a panel upgrade. Added awareness is a great tool GA has these days. Plus people waste money on the stupidest things so why not a panel upgrade. Lol. Also everything going up these days you can almost get what you put into the panel if you sell.

      @PilotFun101@PilotFun1013 жыл бұрын
    • @@PilotFun101 Clearly, it's a personal choice, assuming one has the disposable Cash. In my experience, the light GA market values are in the toilet, so anything you do has to be considered a loss. Hardly anyone is going to pay $60k for an airframe that's valued at $30k, no matter what bells and whistles you throw in it. I have at least $80k in my 62 M20C, (Electric Speed Brakes, All speed mods including the 201 Windshield, Stec-50 autopilot, IFR Panel, ect) and I'd be lucky to get $30k for it in today's market. I gross nearly $200K/yr, and I could not justify spending $25k like that. You must do pretty well off of your YT Channel. But I guess, if you plan on keeping it for a long time, you will get some satisfaction out of it that's worth it for you, for that I salute you.
