This is the complete build of the exciting new Dragon models Platz Panzer IV. This great new kit is completely re engineered to be a very low part count kit at 175 pieces, but still be very detailed.

Not editing those oopsies gives me a lot more confidence, believe it or not! Also.... has anyone else noticed that Andy sounds a LOT like Rick Moranis from ghostbusters at times? Today were more people are into instant gratification they are really missing out on the true meaning of modeling and I am glad to see there are still the complex models still available for those of us that want the control and are not in a hurry to get to the finish line!

  • As someone who is just going to start out soon (hopefully sometime this month or early next month) I will probably do a "fresh off the assembly line" look and as i get more experienced start doing weathering but dont know about that since I plan on doing 1 or 2 models to see if this is hobby is for me, as for the airbrush stuff i will get a decent one and if model building doesn't is for me I will end up doing small custom painted things. I also find your channel quite relaxing.

  • Well damn I never heard of these coming out. Took me by surprise for sure! That is very interesting, and makes sense seeing as Dragon is aiming more for simplified and cheaper kits as of late. • man, this is right on time. today, i've just finished Trumpeters 1/35 Scale Russian T-80B MBT, & my God, what a tedious build, (over 900 parts)! don't get me wrong, it built into a beautiful model, but with the amount of minute parts, (& photo etched at that), this project took me over a week. i'm definitely looking for an 'easier build' for my next project, & this Dragon Panzer IV is a 'possibility'. but i'll probably 'settle' for a Tamiya Soviet KV-II tank. (you can't get any 'easier' than that).

  • @Andy Platz are a Japanese model manufacturer/distributor and this kit has plastic from their Girls und Panzer (Anime series) Pz IV D along with some plastic and tracks from Dragon's Pz IV line. The Girls und Panzer series of tank models were designed for the new or occasional modeller so have fewer parts and some nice slide molding. Dragon have provided some of the detail parts like tools to spruce it up. There are lots of other Platz GuP tank models like Stug and M3 Lee so expect some more collaborations. :)

I don't mind the extra work.

  • This is very interesting! I am quite surprised that Dragon went that way. What surprises me even more is the clash in between modeler's beliefs. Many beg for more and more comlpex builds. Others, just want good ol' Tamiya. I am the second type. Wondering, how this particular kit will impact the market. Usually the Panzer fans are most picky. Always something is off or wrong or from different mod. Now, when your hands are more or less tight with not many possibilities with the fewer parts, how that is going to go... Thanx for your video!

In germany the panser glass was lightly green and rumors saying that sometimes the unit didnt havent enoufth spare panser glas so the tank had to move into battle without any protection at all. As far as I had been told the infantery instrucktions on how to fight a german tanks was to aim riffel fire on the drivers vision slot to damage his glass so there was a huge use of the spare ones.

  • Yes - if you have need of mega detailed long build it’s worth considering the fairly recent batch of Miniarts latest offerings - mainly Russian but OMG they are super engineered / detailed especially with the kits that come with full interiors ...probably the most detailed kits on the market - not for the faint hearted but stunning production standards ...love to see you attack one of those kits Andy !
