We are officially past the 14 day quarantine from our New York Fox Rescue. Enjoy as Mikayla Raines and her SaveAFox Rescue team join forces with their sanctuary allies and the NY State Police Department to put an end to the hoarding of 28 foxes. point of the video is not to hate, but to educate.
The date of this rescue was March 26th 2020. Not May. Apologize for those who were confused or frustrated by the error. Look forward to the blur comments!

P.S. We may or may not be from the future.
WHAT IS ANIMAL HOARDING?
⚠️Considering we just did a rescue from a bad hoarding situation I thought it would be a good time to make a post about what animal hoarding is, the warning signs, and how to prevent supporting a hoarder disguised as a rescue.
"Animal hoarding is keeping a higher-than-usual number of animals without ability to properly house or care for them, while at the same time denying this inability. Compulsive hoarding can be characterized as a symptom of mental disorder rather than deliberate cruelty towards animals."
Some people that find themselves in a animal hoarding situation didn't intend on it. They may have started a rescue and took on more then they could handle or could afford.
If you can't sometimes say "NO" to taking in a animal in need. The rescue world isn't for you. Yes we have rescued dozens of foxes. But we have sadly also had to turn 100s of animals away. THAT IS THE REALITY OF RUNNING A RESCUE. Space, funds, and staff/volunteers available always needs to be considered.
Before donating to any rescue facility here are a few things to keep in mind:
1.) Are they a nonprofit? Their are a lot of steps for applying to be a nonprofit. Not to mention yearly paperwork that needs to be kept up to date. Being verified as a non-profit is a good sign.
2.) Do they have social media for their rescue?
Although social media can present falsely. There are things you can look for. What do their updates look like and how often do they update?
It is important to pay attention to the animals living conditions and frequentcy of those posts.
Do they make educational posts or posts about their diets?
Do they take pictures and post the animals vet visits? Do they provide enrichment for the animals or show them getting interaction?
3.)Does the rescue show any credentials or certification for the animals they are working with?
4.) Are they open to the public? This is my personal biggest one. If a Rescue is open to the public, it is less likely they have anything to hide. I like to see a rescue in person or have someone I know check a rescue out before they have my full support.
5.) Does the rescue allow volunteers? If not, that is a big red flag. As most rescues could use all the help they can get.
It is easily to be mislead by social media if you don't know what you are looking for.
If you suspect a hoarding situation. Always report it.

It’s so horrible that all those foxes were suffering over there for six months, I hope the fox with the broken leg is able to recover soon
They suffered their whole life. I really don't understand the existence of fur farms.
I think the one with the broken leg can be seen in the Easter video where Mikayla is playing Easter Bunny and passing out eggs & stuffed toys. He seemed to get around quite well!💜💜💜

When she said "We're taking this one cause it has a broken leg" I immediately realized that was Pan they rescued there. So glad the poor cutie is doing much better now. I cried when I saw how they were all stuck in those tiny cages....just awful.
Oh! It was Pan! I didn’t notice that
Did she name him Pan for "pandemic"?
They originally named him "Pandora" before realizing he's a boy so they shortened it to Pan. m.facebook.com/SaveAFoxRescue/videos/758715017988456/

You'll have to go to zoology and blah blah to become a wildlife rehalibitator...I hope you can handle that
YES ME TOO!!!+
It’s good that those police helped! Proof that A LOT of people really care about animals, not only in NY state but everywhere. Edit: There is one reply that sparked controversy, please refrain to adding to it so that we can stay positive. -3-
Thankfully the absolute majority care about animals.
@simple M It's part of the human way and nature going back tens of thousands of yrs. Just like how larger animals in the food chain hunt on and eat the smaller ones. Your comment would make sense if people were say hunting or killing and eating their pets. Wild animals are a tad different.
I’m a vegetarian. And it is somebody’s choice to be one it cannot be forced upon them.
they got nothing better to do during this quarantine
simple M you know? I just can’t anymore. You are so ignorant when it comes to nature. You should really stop selling yourselves as special and sensitive. You don’t know anything about this matter. Please mind your life.
Hope whoever kept them like that is charged and prosecuted.
They definitely will be charged with many felony charges for this!!! That's why there was so many police officers with them and animal abuse is taken very seriously around that area and surrounding areas I live 25 minutes from where this happened. And this is the first time I've heard of this place!
I hope they get the help they need. Animal hoarding can be part of a much deeper illness, and while I feel they should be held responsible for their actions, they also deserve the help.
DirtRich yeah, that part stings, it was probably a situation where they thought they were helping, doing a good thing, but they were so mentally ill that _this_ was the best they could manage and couldn’t grasp how awful the conditions were. And idk if that’s worse than thinking that the ppl just didn’t care. Just damn.
@@fromthefire4176 no it's a fur farm. They were being bred for their fur. They didn't care about the foxes at all.
That's the problem - they're let off every single time.

I love foxes, wolves, and coyotes so much it hurts. Seeing them like this gives me such an empty feeling I cannot explain it.
I agree foxes are my favorite and seeing them suffer makes me sick and makes me want to steal their pain and show humans what it's like to be the ones in that situation because honestly animals dont deserve to die and suffer for a reason they didnt cause and were the animals ourselves
@Gacha AndStuff of course! Any animal abuse is not okay and it will never be okay and we all need to think about that
This is.. I can't even find the words honestly. Thank you all for giving these beautiful foxes the third chance they deserve. I can't imagine going from death row of a fur farm thinking freedom only to end up at that joke of a sanctuary for 6 months 🙁 I hope they know how lucky they are to have this third chance with such amazing people ❤

Was so confused by the date typo in the beginning, I thought maybe I'd zoned out for a month and a half and woke up in the future.
Here still April 😝😝
Every now and then I go back and watch old Saveafox videos. I remember watching this video when it was first posted and I was horrified. It wasn't until later when I watched this video again that I recognized that Pan was one of these foxes, and now I can't watch without crying. I see how far along Pan's come within these past two years, how he's made lots of friends and is living a good life now, and it's hard to think about what would have happened if these foxes weren't rescued from here. I know each of these foxes has had a similar journey, and I hope they're all doing well now and are getting to live happy lives now. Pan's been my favorite fox for a long time now, and I'm just really happy he's been rescued and is doing a lot better now.

No this video is good and the fox is cute
God bless all the people who save foxes' lives by rescuing them from fur farms, especially everyone who helped in this video! I hope to become a fox rescuer myself!

Never! Stop! Your! Work! Thank you
Thank you all who made this rescue mission possible!
Thank you rescues. Thank you State Police.
Thank you for everything you all do🥰
ugh... shame on this “sanctuary” for letting these poor animals live this way. It looks like they MAYBE had the capacity for a couple of foxes to live healthily and safely, aside from escapees. If I had to guess, they had a lot of high flying hopes, and then the fur farm shut down and they felt they had to take ALL the foxes because the ones they didn’t take would be killed. But that is NO excuse not to call in help from more established rescues like the ones who helped out here.
Yah that's one way of covering up a fur farm they put the rejects in the outside part so it looks nice and pretty bit that's also why its hard to stop them kuz its hard to get in the house to rec evidence
I found their facebook and they had a post that showed them releasing all their female foxes into the yard. She said the boys would be released next but obviously... that never happened. She left them in their cages zip tied. She had intentions of finally finishing male enclosures for the outside area a month before these guys came and rescued the foxes.
So absolutely wonderful that this wasn’t put on the back burner by the state because of the pandemic. Thank you so much to each and every person that was involved with this! 💜 And that music! Gives me chills!
Thank you for your wonderful caring work. Blessings.
God bless this young couple and the police.
Sorry.. but what’s the back story? Am I allowed to ask?! What’s the disgusting pathetic excuse used for keeping these poor babies locked up like that?! Makes my blood boil! I have no idea how you all kept so calm. Well I do, you need to stay calm for the foxes sake, but Lawd have mercy! So difficult not to get upset after seeing them like that I’m sure!! Any chance of an update from everyone on how they’re all doing eventually? I’d love to hear that they’ve all settled. I think it speaks volumes on foxes nature when they were already sniffing you guys with intrigue, interest & just relief at seeing daylight & feeling fresh air again. Hurts my heart that anyone would treat animals like this, ruddy kills my soul. Thank you to ALL of you for saving these beautiful foxes! And thank you for sharing the journey too; I don’t think everyone is aware of just what goes into a rescue mission like this. Love & blessings to all ❤️ xx
Laura Williams This is a fur farm. They were kept and raised only to be painfully tortured and skinned alive for their valuable fur. The people responsible for this disgusting practice deserve to help save and rehabilitate foxes for the rest of their life or the death penalty.
Phillip Velednitskiy The place we just saw saveafox at, originally saved *them* from a fur farm.. were they a fur farm too?!!! Oh my GOD! I didn’t know! Sod them helping foxes, just do away with humans like that, WASTE of oxygen - I don’t care if that sounds harsh. People like that never, ever change. They’re just black hearted individuals. Thank you for letting me know. Thank goodness for Mikayla & her crew.. those poor babies 😔 x
@@LauraBidingCitizen that is false, in the video it shows that they were meant to be a rescue organization. not a fur farm. the rescue organization had taken them from a fur farm and my best guess is they either took in too many to be able to handle and care for the foxes individually as one should or they took them in with little to no experience on foxes, still wanting to have them rescued from the fur farm but just being inexperienced
@@phillipvelednitskiy6881 at 4:10 you can see the sign saying "Turtle Haven and Animal Sanctuary" The description of the video explains what may have happened. A person with originally good intentions that got overwhelmed. I'm not trying to defend these people. But the fact is most people aren't evil, just incompetent.
Momon you’re right but I doubt most situations like these end up with a good outcome like this. Even as a rescue organization that treatment was barbaric. I almost feel as if it was masked as a rescue organization to hide bad intentions.

Bless you guys, thank you for standing up for wildlife
I don't think it's fair that the sanctuary gets this hate. I am obsessed with helping animals as well. I love animals more than anything. If I had the chance to rescue fur farm foxes, I think I would desperately try to get out as many foxes there as possible. And then, if you have no one else to help once they are out, the situation can quickly get out of hand, of course. But they meant well and were probably trying their best. And they probably only received help with the foxes once the police got involved. A better network and support amongst rescuers and financial support by the state would make a great difference. Mikayla's public profile certainly helps massively with the first - thank you so much, Mikayla and team.
Thank you guys for being sure these foxes will live a much better life. I am crying I am so mad that people think keeping animals in such conditions is okay...
