  • Pokemon duel was the best one. I was sad when it was discontinued. I didn't pay for anything except one time because i wanted to support the game. Just playing gave me a ton of figures to use. Even weaker figures could be used to great effect. Pokemon smile is great for those of us with adhd. It helps me remember to do it and get every surface. I loved Magikarp Jump too.

  • Magikarp Jump was wild. Over the span of like 2 or so years I actually ended up finishing it. Like, in terms of completing all leagues. Without spending any money on microtransactions at all you will not have enough currency by the end to have bought everything, unless you pay real money of course. the late game of this game is more repetetive than the base game itself, forcing you to replay the last league again and again, watching through the same 3 cutscenes for hours at a time, with the only thing ever changing being the magikarp you fish after completion lol

It's more of the balancing, especially in normal matches, high ranking players will get in a match with someone from low ranks and it stops being fun for the person who doesn't know the game that well/doesn't play too often

  • Pokemon Sleep genuinely helped fix my sleeping schedule and body clock. I have pretty bad depression and waking up each morning can be tough, but the game really incentives you to go to sleep at regular times and rewards you with rarer Pokémon n stuff. to put it into perspective, when I started using the app I used to sleep at 4am and wake up at 1pm the next day. A few months later I now go to sleep at 10:30pm and wake up at around 9am. Idk what people are doing to make their phones overheat, its never happened with me. I just set it to sleep, put the phone face-down which makes the screen black while keeping the app running and have it lay next to me on the mattress. Only time it gets slightly warm is if a pillow falls on it or something.

  • You're not missing out on anything with Unite. I played regularly for a little over a year before I just couldn't do it anymore. Microtransactions aren't even the issue. You can VERY easily get your held items to the optimal level. It's the SBMM, the way they have ranked setup, and the lack of consequences. Balance is also a big issue at times, but the 3 I named have been an issue since day 1. PokemonGO is about the constant never ending grind to get the perfect Pokemon for various situations, as far as the gameplay is concerned. The real draw though is the sense of community. I ran my local scene for about 3 years by organizing raids everyday and events for everyone to get together. Even the devs want this to be what the game is for. To bring people together IRL. If you don't at least have 1 other person to enjoy the game with and "compete" with, then it really isn't all that fun. I can't play anymore due to an accident, but I most certainly would if I could. Niantic is a headache to deal with, but it was worth it to get to enjoy catching Pokemon with my best friends while making new ones.

  • Something very tragic about pokemon duel was that they made it a LOT worse over its lifespan with the microtransactions. Back when the game first launched you could save up and buy pretty powerful figures and experiment with upgrades yourself, and it was a very forgiving game in terms of experimentation. Later on the power creep on newer figures got really rough, mix that with the fact that it became WAY harder to get the currencies needed for newer figures *AND* they increased the price on getting new figures too. Turning it into almost a necessity to spend real life money. It was scummy as hell and a complete turn around on the games design just to get more money. That was 100% a huge reason into why it died so fast.

    • Yeah the thing about Pokémon go is that it’s pretty much a hardcore collectors game. you want to get all the shinies but you also want to get them with really high stats since they can’t be changed like in the mainline games, and it’s really dependent on where you live and if you have a community of other players. if you don’t live in big town/city or have any other players then you’re pretty much screwed over and can’t really do much

  • Pokemon Masters EX has one of my favorite things just hidden in plain sight. In the Johto Games, Pokemon Champion Lance has his Dragonite use Hyper Beam on an actual human, a Black Belt trainer class. In Masters EX, it was discovered that there's a Black Belt who talks about working in Mahogany town (where this took place) and that he's been afraid of dragon-types ever since. As a massive Pokemon fan who has basically all the Pokemon Apps still available for download.... it's a bit sad that I haven't played them all (still haven't started Masters EX). I remember I did have Pokemon Duel, it was real fun. Magikarp Jump is fun, and I use Pokemon Smile to help me brush my teeth b/c AuDHD makes that hard. And Pokemon Sleep is what I use every night, I've gotten quite a few shinies through it.

    • Fun fact: There's even a medal if you beat a blackbelt's mon with Hyper Beam. There are a few units that can use it now, but when the medal got added, only Lance and Dragonite could use it. And the medal is depicting a dragonite during the Beam at the head of a blackbelt. AND the name of the medal is Dragonite, use Hyper Beam! Honestly, you should start now. Because there's a log un bonus of 10 tickets, each giving a 10 pull on a banner with a lot of limited units (even the rarest ones) and the number of 5 stars is big enough so that you'd often get one. Plus the gems as another log in bonus for the 4.5 anniversary.

Whenever I look through my Pokémon collection, I have that sense of accomplishment and seeing how far I’ve come since I’ve started in 2016 3) Getting loads and loads of shinies and maybe even getting lucky enough to find some rare mons. You need to catch heaps to power up the ones you want to keep, catch to get stardust/candy for that, catch to keep getting Pokémon for the things you want to do. Best if you enjoy doing PvP (which is pretty garbage compared to main line games) or if you enjoy collecting them all. If you don’t enjoy catching lots of Pokémon it’s probably not the game for you… which niantic would make it more interesting to play more actively.

I know that I personally have moved more into playing Pokémon / watching Pokémon YT content, now that Animal Crossing new content has been....well absent. So I know that I'd love to see you doing some stuff on Pokémon, just in your style/editing way. This is obviously just my opinion though, please keep doing whatever makes YOU happy, whatever sustains your channel & fulfils you, as thats the most important thing. But just wanted to say that I'd def support you doing some more Pokémon/Non-Animal Crossing content. Great video though! 🌟

  • I recently beat Magikarp Jump, and honestly, you have to love Magikarp if you're going to finish that game. It is pretty shallow and casual, very low maintenance, but there's a beautiful little story there between you and all of your little virtual fish, being so good at jumping. Yeah, it's not flashy and dangerous like pokemon battling, but it doesn't mean it's not impressive for a so called "useless" fish to jump so high! I certainly can't jump that high. It was a fun, sweet little game, and I'm glad I was able to finish it, especially without paying money lol

  • One thing i quite like about pokemon go is hunting for shinnies, since there are events like community day and others where the chances of finding one is quite high. If you get a friend to play one of this events with you, you can in the end trade the shiny with an old pokemon (like from 2016 or before) and it guarantees that it will become a lucky pokemon (lucky pokemon is a whole can of worms, but the simple part is that it rerolls it's iv for a high value, maybe even perfect ivs). After that, you can send some of this pokemon to pokemon home, and from there, you can place them in a lot of mainline games, which in my opinion is a quite fun way for shiny farming.

On top of catchin em all, my personal dumb quest is to gild gym badges, I’m currently at 400+ unique gyms! PoGo has helped me a lot with my anxiety. The best thing about it to me is the community (my small-ish city in Finland has a super active player base). I’ve met and befriended some really cool & diverse people I would have never met without playing PoGo. Also the fact that it makes me go out a lot is a huge plus 😁

For a while, I never really played avidly because it got pretty boring pretty quickly. What got me back into it was playing with my friends and getting really competitive with all the mons we could find! This past weekend there was an event in LA that we got to participate in and it was a great reminder of how much I love the game cause we got to meet a bunch of really cool people who also loved Pokémon! I’m the first to say that the game is far from perfect, but there’s something really fun and special about getting to play with people who are as into it as you are.

  • Pokemon go is perfect for collecting. If you aren't a big collector at heart, if may not be for you. It's also a good distraction for a short phases of boredom. It gets you out of the house and you meet people. I've met SO MANY people through this game and I keep seeing some of them regularly through the weekly raid hours or other events. Meeting someone for an evening to trade some Pokemon is fun and there's also the PVP league if you like to play competitive. There are many goals you can give yourself, like, getting a max IV mon of each type, a living dex, collect all the shinys or some crazy goals like having a shiny legendary of each type and form. But you really need to do either pvp or raids to have a reason to max out and pursue stronger Pokemon. Because, if you want to power up your Pokemon, you need Stardust which means you need to catch a ton of Pokemon. So you just keep catching. getting more and getting better.

  • I just finished watching the part about Pokemon quest, so I'm sure that you repeatedly said there are only the first 151 but showed the rest without mentioning that the game is continued in China because legally it's considered as another game there compared to the rest of the world or something. Anyway, no mention of that explanation, that's not cool. Then, for Masters EX. Aside from a few pieces of video showing more recent things, those were all from the early stages of the game, and the commentary shows you don't know much about it so I'll add onto it: not only do older characters return, but nearly every character can end up getting other partners associated with amternative outfits, from Sygna Suits to anniversary outfits, while passing through seasonal ones (Christmas, Easter, summer, etc.) and other categories. The official pkmn yt channel even put an illustration of Sygna suit Gladion on their community post from yesterday. And let's not forget about the music, since the game gets remixes and even personal versions of the E4 theme for each member in each region (check out Koga's theme btw), better yet, some characters got their themes extended or even turned into fighting ones. There's just so much to say to cover this game, so I'll stop there. You actually did Magikarp Jump justice, nothing to say about that. And I'm mentioning Masters EX and Jump because both made their way to the anime: Cynthia got a first alternate outfit with Kommo-o, and during the Journey series, when she appeared, she used one there too. While Magikarp Jump went into a double-episode, in the first half of it and as the solution for the second episode. It also was a reference to the Lord of the Lake of Sinnoh. I might add later to the comment, but for now, I'll watch the rest. Alright, time for part 2. Pokemon tcg live was a technological mess when I left it after that Lugia expansion during Sword and Shield, and I bet it's still that bugged and lagging, so honestly, nothing to miss there until they fix it, you got that on point. Unite isn't that niche. It has its own official world tournament, and which game other than it, the main games, the tcg and go have one? None that I know of, so Unite is one of the biggest side games, no way it is niche. Add to this that some hype came back when Zacian and later on when Mewtwo at the anniversary of the game, plus the upcoming Miraidon (btw, I see you got some test servers footage, did you get it from another video or did you already have access to them or did you get access to them only for this video?). And don't forget to explicitly mention how broķen nearly each new mon has been. Like, Lapras, then Umbreon, then Goodra just never die, Mewtwo is so op it got emergency nerfs, Miraidon will get the same thin, I'm betting on it.... Also the draft mode finally available.... for those who get into master rank 1400, and everyone in the match has to be that high for everyone to get it....... Go is just Go, what hasn't been said about it now tbh? Duel was nice. The reason it got discontinued is because of Masters EX. I mean, it ended in 2019, right? The same year Masters got released, both being a gacha game, but Masters inherently bringing more money thanks to the nostalgia of old characters.

  • As someone who just recently got back into Pokemon go, the fun for me at least is just having something to do when I’m on a walk or on a break at work. It’s not a game with a “goal” imo, it just enhances sorta mundane things. And the option to put your shinies or good Pokemon into a main line game is really cool too and is usually in the back of my mind when you fully evolve a charzard or something like that. And getting to hatch eggs which are pretty much loot boxes from walking a lot like I do at work is always a plus lol (Also Pikmin bloom is awesome. A lot more hands off and is pretty much a fun step tracker. If you walk a lot it’s fun to send your Pikmin on a expedition and coming back to to pull some Pikmin or plant some flowers)

  • Pokemon Go is a game that definitely has had a bit of history with the community. However one of the best things about Pokemon Go is the people you meet along the way. Because of Pokemon Go I have met hundreds of interesting people within my state and outside my states due to Pokemon Go's Tour or Go Fest events. This allows you to meet people that are very unique and may not have same interest with you. But you both have one common thing. You guys like Pokemon. The core base of Pokemon Go is basically just a catch em all. You want to catch them all you will go ahead and do so. We have Mega's Shinies, Costumed you name it. There's events that will feature location exclusive pokemons with location backgrounds. It makes you feel good. There's also their own PVP which is it's own story that allows you to battle other people in their own tournaments via the app. The game also features events almost every week where you can meet with people. Community Days, Raid Hours/Days. There are routes you can follow for bonuses and of course raids. There's more I can talk about in the ends it's about the community.

One of the dining halls on my campus was sit down only unless you paid like $20 dollars for their to-go program (they had reusable plastic takeout containers, you’d get one and they trade it for a clean one the next time you went) and as someone who was usually eating there by myself cause my friends didn’t like that dining hall I’d play this anytime I got food from there. • For me, Pokemon Go the "end goal" of Pokemon go is to collect a sort of scrapbook of memories using Pokemon. Pokemon have their hatch/catch location tied to their ID in game. Every catch is associated with a different moment in my life. I still have some memorable ones from back in 2016. My friends and I hiked 2 miles through the woods for the promise of a Vaporeon and ended up all catching it, which was a big deal back then. Or my shiny Registeel from 2020. My dad and I don't connect over much, but we both enjoy getting out and playing go. After spending all day doing raids and talking about strategy I ended up finding my shiny. All of this is to say that Pokemon go is much more about community and memories then it is about Pokemon, at least to me anyway.

At launch, Item Enhancers were locked to only being buyable with the in-game currency (you can see it at 18:21, where every item except Item Enhancers has a price in both coupons and gems). The problem was that when you try to use an item you have zero of, a menu pops up saying "would you like to buy more?" People noticed pretty quickly that they forgot to remove the "buy with gems" option from that menu. So they were stuck in a state where they'd have give back a lot of money if they actually fixed the bug. Instead, they just added a New Player reward where everyone who starts playing gets 300 free Item Enhancers (enough to max out a full loadout of three items, so new players aren't gimped).
