Erika! [German + English Lyrics]
Erika! [German + English Lyrics]
Erika (Auf der Heide blüht ein kleines Blümelein) is a marching song of the German military. The song was composed by Herms Niel in 1939. Name "Erika" had been derived from the heather plant (German: Heide, Erika; Latin: Erica). Vast heather-yards are one of the proud symbols of German natural heritage.[citation needed] The song has also become traditional by the highly prussianized Chilean Army.

Erika comes from a specific flower. Tha latin name of the flower is ericaceae. In German we call it Heidekraut. You also hear in the song the word Heidekraut. "when the Heidekraut blooms red and purple again." Because it is the color of ericaceae. The red/purple flowering ericaceae is usually growing on heathers (Heiden) in Germany. That is where Erika came from in this song. A red flower with the name ericaceae that grows on the heather. The soldiers also sing for their woman who are waiting for her men to come home from war. That is the main aspect of this song. Not the flower itself.
It’s about re-germanizing flowers, a natural process for all living being told beautifully from one of our oldest metaphors, the flower. It’s also a an intended pun, regerminate. I like it.
Do you think Heidi Klum would get mad if you called her heidekraut?

@@PRESIDENT_OHIO the boys are proud of you.
Erika: A HUNDRED THOUSAND BEES 🐝
YES! This is a military march. In which there is a hint that the soldier is a suicide bomber. This is such a glorification of death, for those who are the Warrior type. Precisely for them, for those who have not yet seen what death is? Especially in its most terrible manifestation. Then, when it concerns a specific person who wants war. Therefore, to everyone like this, this song is presented in the form: 🤭🥰💐, behind which stands the same one: “...Allied propaganda: 😳😰☠...”! And so, it’s about bees! That they work and make sweet honey. And the huntsman who lives somewhere in the forest has a beautiful daughter, whose name is Erica. Therefore, it is so nice and wonderful to dream about a beautiful girl! This distracts the soldier from thoughts about military service and, moreover, combat operations. Just like that, the soldier’s brain becomes smooth, like wet soap.
Best part is the song isn't even about Nazis, it's literally about a soldiers girl back home.

My grandad used to sing this quite a lot when I was a child. He survived WW2 along with his Dad. Every Sunday, he'd sing, whistle, or hum this tune when I'd visit for dinner. I was told all the stories of their time and the origin of the song. I first thought it was odd for a Britsh man to sing German infantry stuff, but then I listened to the meaning and I fully respect this song for what it is, no hidden messaging, just a longing to return home to loved ones. That's something I understand would ring true for most people back then. Including my grandfather and his father, Respect this song, basically.

Because little hat tribe has the sensitivity of an insecure teenage girl.
Because of the images shown in the actual video. Although nazism isn’t mentioned in the song the song is very closely associated with it and the author of this video has made the choice to include images of nazi soldiers and Adolf Hitler. These images are the reason that warning is there, not the actual song itself. Also I must agree, sweet and amazing song.
