Really enjoyed watching the real process of “no, maybe, no, no”. Thanks for showing how much head scratching goes on. Refreshingly honest 👍
The editing, the music, the commentary and most importantly the quality of the fabrication on this channel is next level. Always enjoyable to tune into a new episode.
So many people have done twin turbo v8s, but i think this is the tightest, most efficient packaging of components ive ever seen. Super impressive.
Yes. The symmetry and artistry of this build is Second to none. The very best of this kind of work. John J. Toolan
All that thought, discussion, and head scratching for just one section. Can't imagine how many times they have to that throughout the build. Mad respect for these artisans!
Man! I swear these guys can do anything to a car. "What???" "The part doesn't exist??" "Hold on a second!!" .... "NOW IT DOES." GREAT VIDEO,AS USUAL!!!
Guy's, it's so much fun watching true craftsmen at work turning out crazy-good works of art. The creative, problem solving process is simply amazing, all while you're having fun at it....Great stuff.
Love those rims ... Would love to have those on my 65 mustang coupe
Guys, just a suggestion. What if you put 2 smaller hood catches it would free up a lot of space, if it is possible let it work on 1 lever. Fantastic work you guys are going!!
Twin-turbo front-engined V8 Corvair body shell on custom everything. A beautiful bodystyle for sure, and an awesome custom. More of a Corvair illusion with this much change.
Love these behind the scenes / raw videos. Keep them coming.
These guys are so good...
The lessons being shared are invaluable, thank you!
Glad you like them!
That's a corvair that I could see myself driving. Super cool.
Look at Motion Race works V-band clamps, they're designed to allow a little movement between the two pipes
i wonder what Ralph Nader thinks of this Corvair? maybe he should get a ride around in it once its done!
Props to your fab guys, so little space for all that goodys…
And all under the hood without modifications! Yep that's how to do it. John J. Toolan
Great Job...
Very Nice! Awesome making it all fit/ work together. Just ART! Cheers for sharing.
Love it, love it, love it! I always wanted to do a front motor 2nd gen. Corvair (& a mid-motor 1st gen., Ala the Crown V-8 conversion for 2nd gen. cars-I had a 65 with that setup, the transaxle being the weak link). I love the body mod's. Having been a machinist (retired-I'm 75)/ mechanic (m/c's & cars), I can really appreciate all the "Eye-ball" engineering and recognizing of potential problems that could arise trying to package all that in that confined space, (obviously NOT your 1st rodeo)-GREAT JOB!! Can't wait to see the finished product and the E-ticket ride it surely will provide! YEE-HA!!!! P.S. And "yes", I use to be a "Corvair Freak" along time ago- besides the '65 mid-ship, I've owned 2 Rampsides, a '62 and two '65's Monza's, a '66 Corsa and last, but not least, a'60 VW bug with a built-to-shit Corvair motor (again w/ Crown adapter kit) that I finally transplanted into a '60 VW panel bus that ran 17's(!) at a late '70's Bug In at OCIR (Calif.), the reduction gear boxes being the limiting factor to getting a good launch.😅 Just Say"n....Keep up the Great work!
Gonna be a show stopper
That thing is gonna be bad wicked sick! That body kit is going to be sexy AF and still look like something GM or yenko should have done with the stinger.
This won’t be a body kit, we’re remaking the entire body out of metal. Stay tuned!
I really enjoyed this video.. I used individual intercoolers from a porshe when I did my twin turbo set up on my vair
awesome as all ways
The front end needs split bumpers like the RS 70 Camaro.
Somewhere out there is a front engine Corvair with that nasty Jag V-12. It has no real power but the installation looked factory perfect.
. * * * * This is going to be a fantastic car ! Always enjoy seeing your skills and craftsmanship !
YesSirrr... RallyBullRaul 🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪
Good stuff!
I would be using vibrants HD clamps instead of V-bands. They use o-rings to seal and allow movement for vibrations and expansion.
Well, I guess I watched this too late but here's my 2 cents for what it's worth. As @ez87gn56 stated is ditch the center hood latch on both the hood and where the grill would be. Then use the new style flush mount latches on the sides near the fenders. It would also clean up the hood and grill area while giving more room to fab. Just a thought. Love the concept of this build.
Incredible ❤🎉❤🎉❤
Nice! Hoping for a Crown "corv8". Cool body mods. I did something like this to a datsun 510. No-one understood.
Core OF air !❤
Love your concept works on that Covair. On your next vehicle be great to see you guys are able to come up with a really cool different direction when it comes with totally Old Skool type of 60s car with out having used LS engines or turbo setup and computer stuff and make looks like it's in the future with tunnel air rams. Otherwise, keep up with your great work. Love you guys. You make my day better when I get the chance to watch you guys. Because of that you guys give me some different ideas for me to do. Some time in my life time.
Hell must've froze over bcuz i didnt think it was possible to make a corvair look good but by god yall did
Possible to make a Corvair look good? They are great looking little cars. Of course this is a race car with a Corvair body on it.
After reading all the comments from the fan club let me just say the first mistake was in not calling Race Part Solutions for the plumbing parts. They offer many custom transitions and specialty parts that could have made this easier. At times looks like the blind leading the blind. Cool car though!
When checking those tight clearance (any place on a custom build)) or, like you did with the hood and those pipes you might want to invest in one of those camera endoscopes that have flexible cables on them. They're easily hooked up to cell phones too.
. * * * * You could use some mesh in place of part of the headlight bucket and behind the frt license plate , just bump the license out a little , also a front spoiler .
bad ass!!
I need to see how you will hinge the door with those new body lines….. I love the build but I need to see how you do it
I can see you rebuilding the whole front facia to accomodate the license plate, maybe allowing you to drop the plate lower than stock....Mind you I haven't watched till the end and you may have come up with a fix...
We’ll get it figured out. This is the very early stages of this build. We’re trying to show everyone all the little details and thought process that goes into building these large projects.
Hinge the plate and have a actuator tilt the Plat in running off a micro switch... so when he accelerates it opens up
this looking like an awesome project, cant wait to see the finished product, so what motor are you puting in it
Twin turbo Nelson Racing LS V8.
Is the engine going to be dry sump?
Air to water intercooler seems like a better fit. Wouldn’t look as cool.
I would put a vband clamp on the bottom of the intercooler and use the rubber to connect
This is an American car. You had a good platform, for mid-engine twin turbo V8 but........... Space is your enemy. Making this vehicle a, "wide body", would help you in both cooling ports, and plumbing room. Cantilever front suspension, get the coilovers out of the way. Now you have space for the inter-coolers,(in the extension of, quarter panels) You guys hooked me with part 1 of this, I subscribed. Watched a few of other ones, very very interesting, enjoyed them all!!! 👍 You have unique answers for difficult questions. Your fabrication is top of the line. Almost through part 2 this Sunday. Looking forward to more great videos, err podcasts. Got my attention!!! 👍
👍🏼👍🏼
👍
What about cutting a hole were the licence plate is allowing the plate to swing open on throttle for optimum are flow on the cooler . like James Bond shit .
It’s only the rear engine corvair that they call a death trap right?
✌️👍
Where is the coolant going to be
The radiator will be mounted in the rear, like a Baja truck. You’ll learn more about that in the upcoming episodes.
I probably would have ran the turbos in the rear of the car cause they running out of Realastate where the radiator going to go
That looks like one of those 20 pounds of crap in a 10 pound bag type of deals.
OH HELL NO ! 🤦🏽♂️ Just because they can cram it all in up front under the hood doesn't mean that they should've. HEAT, HEAT, HEAT !!! Engine maintenance will be fun too. Remote mounting the turbos in the rear of the car is the better option. Transmission should've been rear mounted too for weight distribution benefits, C5 Corvette is the power train blueprint. Their skills & ingenuity are top notch. Incredible execution on a bad design decision.
Ditch that hood catch , you can do better than that and gain some room
Anyone can put an LS in , be creative build the original motor to have about 450-500 hp. then you have something. The Corvair was a great design when it was done and in my opinion you don’t need all those body mods. You’re trying to turn a Corvair into a Camaro❗️🇺🇸
making a rear engine car into a front engine car Why???
It's not your money or your car, or your time, that's why.
@@baibureh8816 I like the way you put that reply baibureh8816. I don't approve of comments that have NO! constrictive value whatsoever. These guys are NO! less than master fabricators and craftsmen supreme and are creating a rolling work of art. I would like to ask dougl"ASS"austin a question. Where is your custom hotrod build?
Probably for a number of reasons... 1) That size engine may not fit with a transmission/transaxle that will handle the power. 2) The weight distibution will be more even, less likely to swap ends like a Porsche or an old VW beetle. 3) It will be as cool as hell parked next to another Corvair...quite a flex. There may be other reasons but that was all I could come up with.
Because they are being paid by a client who WANTS it....
@@JohnToolan-oz6gx I have not criticized their craftsmanship. Just would have preferred that they apply their magic to a rear-engine option as was the original Corsair.
Why not use a trans axle and put the engine in the back where it is supposed to be in a Corvair. Might as well have just built a Camaro if you are putting engine in front.
