    • Combination of moveset cuts and the addition of Heavy Duty Boots are the main factors behind this. Also, powercreep makes it so that its paltry base 95 special attack has become harder and harder to justify. Its still quite solid in OU, currently being in the tier by ranking (it briefly fell to UU before rising back to OU by usage), but putting these factors together makes it quite easy to see why it fell off from Ubers. • it's a ton of factors really, from movepool to stats to abilities to meta to generational gimmicks etc., but the power creep has been really, really bad this gen with paradox mons getting essentially the zacian-c ability one time at the cost of an item slot, or unlimited times if you work with weather/terrain (mostly in ubers rather than OU), pokemon in general getting minmaxed stats as you said, treasures of ruin getting universal debuffs (which is even worse in vgc), pokemon getting stacking moves/abilities (supreme overlord, rage fist, last respects), hazard metagame being really unpredictable (all due to gholdengo), and then a bunch of new moves with absurd secondary effects given to a bunch of already strong pokemon.

    • The first gens used to give mixed stats to powerful mons in order to balance they high total stats. For example, Salamence has 100 special attack despite being a physical attacker, so that means it has 100 useless stat points. For modern mons, they don't care any more about that an instead we got something like Roaring Moon with 55 special attack, and because of that it has better stats than Salamence despite having less total stats.

Manafy may have the exact same stats as mew but thanks to its water typying it stays on the field for more. Survivability is important for mew because it NEEDS to set up in order to do anything. It may have a rich movepool but no matter what sets it runs there is always an other pokemon that can do the same job better. The only exception is the combination of transform +imprison which is a gimmicky set that isn't all that good. There’s probably also meta shifts. It’s possible in UU, RU and NU, even if Staraptor isn’t strictly bad, there’s no reason to use him because there are either other Pokemon that do the job better and/or no real benefit you gain from using Staraptor specifically. For example, in UU currently, the top pokemon are Excadrill (which Staraptor doesn’t have the best matchup against), Tornadus Therian and Zapdos. 2 amazing flying types. If you use them on your team, then there’s not much reason to pick Staraptor. In NU currently, the top Pokemon are Lycanroc, Slowbro, Cloyster, Flygon. @brady7222@brady7222Ай бұрын
    • Thundurus's fall is combination of both powercreep, but more importantly a wide variety of mechanic changes geared to nerf the mon. Thundurus dominated VGC in gen 5, which ultimately resulted in the Electric type immunity to Paralysis in gen 6. Hidden Power nerf and the removal of permanent weather also hit it hard. Then when Thundurus dominated VGC in gen 6 despite the nerfs, the nerf hammer came again, with Thunder Wave's accuracy being reduced and Dark types now gaining immunity to Prankster moves. Gen 8 later also removed Hidden Power, which is relied on for coverage. These nerfs set the stage for Thundurus to ultimately fall off from powercreep and end up where it is currently.

Gen 9 is the first time you could not transfer old moves into the new generation, which led to a lot of mons losing previously staple moves like Scald, Knock Off, Roost, Defog, Heal Bell, Toxic, and many more. The Scald and Knock Off tm returned with dlc but they didn't return it to every mon that had it. Mew is a great example of this, historically it used Softboiled or Roost as its recovery and in gen 9 it lost both. Without recovery it struggles to do anything setup-wise and just became a tricky hazard setter/potential breaker all the way down in NU

  • I use my mew from the giveaway a while ago through whole playthroughs. Learning every tm is amazing in a game where you can remember every move it's ever know at any time. False swipes, thunder wave, taunt is great for completing Pokedex. Still great in campaign p.o

  • Regarding Mew: it's important to remember that Baton Pass has been banned for several generations. Given Mew's bulk and support movepool, that's one of its scariest tools taken away.

    • The more generations Pokémon cycles through, the more *perfect* Pokémon get caught in the higher tiers. S/V is different, because Gamefreak intentionally created perfect Pokémon designed to be bosses and pushed everything down a tier or two (Staraptor, my beloved)

  • I joked to a friend how in Gen 10 we'll see Garchomp, Landorus, and Zacian in NU. I worry that one day that'll be a reality.

    • Chomp would never survive a meta where Zacian is present. Seeing chomp in ZU would make my heart sing I've always hated the overrated bastard.
