I’m Dr. Dana Brems, also known as Foot Doc Dana. As a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), I treat everything from trauma including broken bones, other sports injuries, foot wounds, calluses, thick or ingrown nails; you name it! Being a #doctor is a serious job, but we can have a lighthearted side too. That's why I created this channel- to make medical themed #shorts videos for fun, while also helping to answer your questions.

  • On a serious note........ If you ever have a bug fly or crawl into your ear. Try going into a dark quiet room and shine a flashlight into the ear. The insect will most likely move to the light and can then be dealt with WITHOUT smashing it up inside your ear. When you ride motorcycles at night you deal with LOTS of bugs........

    • My son in law had stage 4 cancer. He was 24. I could literally SEE the tumors on his torso one day when he took his shirt off. I about pooped my pants when I saw them!! I knew IMMEDIATELY what I was seeing! They were all bilateral and hard as boulders. I begged him that day to go see my dr. He didn’t have reg insurance but agreed to see the army doctor. The army doctor told him it was constipation!! I don’t think I’ve EVER been more angry at a person in my entire life!! My SIL was going to accept that diagnosis bc he couldn’t use the toilet… until I said, “duh ! Your poop can’t get past those tumors anymore”! I physically man handled him to the car. He saw a REAL doctor and within 20 mins was being put in the hospital. They gave him months to live. Constipation? He was scheduled to leave for Africa for a year in 2 weeks when I saw his belly. He would have died over there. He had 2 children born and a set of twins due in a month. The military doctors aren’t qualified to diagnose constipation.

  • My husband (then boyfriend) got a moth in his ear. He was in agony, and we had to go the ER, we tried everything to get it out (He didn't have insurance soooo going to the ER was a big deal. When he sliced his hand open, he had me sew it shut.) The triage nurse pulled it out, shined the flashlight in, and commented that he could see all the way to the other side. The nurse and I laughed and laughed. Hubby wasn't happy. He wasn't charged, so there was that. What was really funny about is just a few days before we were talking about reincarnation, and he mentioned how awful it would be to come back as a moth. (We just watched Silence of the Lambs) I was like damn, you really pissed the ancestors off. I won't make that mistake.

Some weapons, the H&K MP7 for instance, have sounds that are of a certain wavelength that isn't blocked by just normal ear defenders, so you have to put those inside your ear canal and then put the normal ear defenders on top.

I had a door gunner do this same thing, except he tried to self-extract and put it too deep in for anyone to grab. He had to go to the medics after the flight so they could get some forceps on it. Otherwise, its fairly common to extract with a multitool simply because it might be a while before you can get to a medic if you're crewing.

  • If you don’t know why they’re putting earplugs in their ears it’s because for gun training as known the gun when shot, it makes a very loud bang that could potentially make you go deaf if your ears aren’t trained for that type of frequency
