  • Amazing how some people don’t pay attention to the way a can opener like this can work because of the “short arms” approach that Josh explained. The tripod stack makes this possible. After sitting back lots of options present themselves because of the very difficult position and pain that this kind of neck crank gives to the guard player which the guy on top can take advantage of.

  • Ideally you'll never let anyone get control of your head. However, it can happen. When/if it does, an illegal move can be countered with another illegal move. If ever someone tries this on you, you would need to quickly find a finger to twist back (finger lock). Works well in a jam.

    @aw8one@aw8one Жыл бұрын
    • Yes. Ask the black belts at your dojo what they think of you using this before you just go for it, and definitely do not do this to white belts/much smaller coloured belts. But if you are rolling with a high level guy your size or above, and they consent to neck cranks, then by all means. Just asl yourself whether you really have the sensitivity to know how far/hard you can bend your partner's neck. I would feel fucking awful if I gave someone a permanent spinal injury trying to pass their guard on a thursday night open mat.

I'm just a purple belt but I've had my shoulder jacked, elbow broken, ACL torn. Training partners should look out for each other.
