  • The section "escaping from reality" really hit me in so many ways. I never thought of laughter as such this valuable thing and I never realized that I do that with my friends as much as I can. I am always going through such a rough time but whenever I am with the few that I have (present and past) I always make it my goal and priority to make sure they have the best time possible laughing and just feeling free. I recently just made a new friend and the other day we went to lunch since we were scheduled for it at the same time, and we laughed so hard we wheezed and it was just such a grate feeling. despite the worst I have been though, every single moment of pure laughter has always gotten me to a place of peace within the chaos. Everything is making sense. Thank you, truly.

  • The fact Brandon said that humans innately know how to laugh from birth which means we inherently experience humour and desire bonds really strikes true to me. Humans and even some animals experience laughter (or closest equivalent) and by extent the emotions, and desire of bonds that comes with it, even at ages with little to no real sense of self or sentience. It isn't taught to you, it's something that sits in your soul and is drawn forth uncontrollably when interacting with those you love, or when something happens that creates that same reaction. Humans are inherently positive beings. For me, this even furthers the proof that negative people are the product of positive people put through negative experiences, and that humans aren't fundamentally evil beings like a lot think. It's cool to think about that fact knowing this, the question of human morality.

    • I really find it fascinating too! I used to work with children who were a year and a half to two years of age. That period of life for a child is so pivotal because it’s their first time experiencing what the world is like beyond their past constraints. They’re walking, many can talk (on varying levels depending on age and the individual), and they’re learning how to interact with adults and children their own age. I’ve seen examples of extreme compassion from the youngest of toddlers. My favorite example is of one summer when I was watching four boys. I had one on the changing table and was dealing with that situation when one of the boys (he was younger than two) came up to me. It was summer so I had shorts on and he started poking at my leg. He started crying and said “owwie!” I was distracted and said: “Oh, you have an owwie? Oh no! I’ll look at it in one moment, okay?” But he kept whining and poking my leg and saying “owwie?” I finally realized he was pointing to a nasty looking cut on my leg (I’m a clutz, I get em all the time lol). He was sad because he thought I was hurt. I can’t even begin to explain to you how I felt in that moment. I couldn’t take my hand off the boy I was changing, but I so wanted to sweep him off his feet and hug him! I did assure him I was fine and that it didn’t hurt. But that was genuine compassion from a baby who was on the cusp of understanding how the world works. And it’s beautiful.

    • I know I have “characters” I play around my house for example lol. I do dumb voices and act a certain way because I feel like it and it’s always when I’m in a certain mood or something! If you want to really get a fun character just improvised, drink something with a lot of caffeine and hang out with theater friends and just see what comes out 🤣 A lot of my characters are caffeine induced hyper freaks LOL
