Yes we create our reality, but on the other side of the coin we have been set up to fail and it started with the fall from Grace, but it was not for the reasons that we've been told. Were we to follow the real teachings of Yeshua (or Buddha) we could override what has been done, but we have not because most of us neither seek nor find, nor knock, so the door cannot be opened. Having said that however, we cannot be blamed, because it was never actually intended to be this way.
Just a note to "Cinema cinemas": The Isle of Man is NOT Ireland. It is approximately equidistant from Ireland, Scotland and England, in the Irish Sea. It has it's own Parliament, and Great Britain is responsible for its defense. So, the Isle of Man is an autonomous protectorate of Great Britain.

I'm 62 and must have watched at least a thousand films ...this is the best one so far ....nothing far fetched... magnificent scenery ...realistic acting ... magnificent dogs...the ending leaves us with a moral to be learnt .

I understand the old man's feelings. Tired and afraid of being alone. With a touch of pride so he'll not admit it. Good script, wonderful actors.
I knew a Border that would crack jokes. I'm not joking. 'Charlie' has long since passed, yet the memories stay as sharp as the moments in which they occured. It's a humbling privilege to be loved by a dog.

A lovely movie with no bad guys or violence. It is greatly appreciated. I really do not watch much television because it shows too much violence and people doing terrible things to others. If I wanted to see that kind of violence I just have to watch the news.
This is what 1st class movies look like. Everyone in this film deserves honors in a touching & charismatic story & the scenery is outstanding. I cannot say enough on how much I enjoyed this. James Cromwell is now my all time favorite. 🤩

This film should have won awards! In many ways it is a typically British film in its gentle subtleties and understatement. James Cromwell is from the USA. A film with a heart and a sincere message.
You should watch this movie! Beautiful countryside, men and their dogs, great actors.
I've watched this 3 times and each time I am moved by James Cromwell's depth of pain that he suppresses bitterly and is prone to pushing people out of his life who get too close. It's such a beautiful environment for the film to unfold, so open and natural. It was filmed in 1998, so 25 years ago. I wonder if there are still places like this to be appreciated.
Remember reading "Owd Bob" when iwas in secondary school circa 1964.

Sorry to be so contrary - but I wish that the last saccharine minute had been consigned to the cutting room floor. Some things are best left to the audience's conclusion/imagination. That said. I couldn't tear myself away from all that preceded it. Stunning movie-making.

Come on Moderator Cinema cinemas. Several posts have already said THIS IS NOT IRELAND. It is the ISLE OF MAN (one 'n' please,). Yes the scenery is lovely as are the people. The least you can do is get your pinned heading correct. IOM is Independent of both the UK with its own Parliament and Laws. The Parliament is the oldest continuous Parliament in the World having first been held in 979AD. Lovely film and even the opening credits state it is filmed in the Island and produced by them.

Came upon the movie by chance. Brought up happy memories of watching the sheep dog trials at the Scott county fair each summer in Minnesota. The trial course here ran a poor second to Scott Counties. There was a natual deep dip midcourse where the dog and sheep could not be seen from the handler or spectators what a thrill to see the dog drive them over the hillside right on target and carry on to finish. Herding dogs are amazing.
If we would make movies as this one instead of all the violence, crime and pornography that we've been bombarded with last few decades, maybe we would be more like characters in this movie - plain, normal people.
There really needs to be more moves like this one.❤ What ever happened to making movies to inspire our youth. Sometimes I wonder if it’s lost forever.💔

I have an original copy of "Bob, Son of Battle." It was my mother's book. It's old. I didn't realize this movie was from that book until I heard Battle and Bob. :) Copyright 1898. The dogs were rough collies, not these border collies. Lassie collies in the book.

I knew the old man (James Cromwell) looked and sounded very Familiar. He was in the Australian Movie ‘Babe’ with a sheep dog and the same accent. He’s American. Great actor, great movie

@@grahamverdin427 Thanks for the details...I read, after watching the movie, about the Isle of Man...however, the scenery there is very beautiful..from what I read, the only nation in the world that was recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere, with a history 10,000 years old and with wonderful landscapes.. I will look for a more detailed documentary about this island in which to describe the people, the tourist areas, the local gastronomy or about the excursions that can be done... there are some descriptions on the visitisleofman website of opportunities but a video documentary would be more complete...thanks for the help

Good clean movie. Your best script writers don't need to resort to trash in order to make a memorable plot. I didn't catch where this was filmed, but if was actually filmed at the Isle of Man, this is a place I'd love to vacation. In fact, it'd be a great place to live.
