As a Scratcher myself, I'm pretty sure that locking some features behind a paywall would kill Scratch, something which MIT would not want to do. This video is an April Fools Prank (don't you get it, the freaking outro).

it's a joke :)
They were actually deciding on a Spotify extension but it stopped working because it was on ScratchX, which was basically Scratch 2.0 v448 (yes, it had versions, look below the fullscreen button) but with added extensions and most didn't work anymore (it ran on Flash). Though it got shut down on the 4th.

This reminds me of a Spotify thing that used to be on ScratchX. Unfortunately, the website got taken down 6-7 days ago on the 4th of April. Though most of the things on there were nonfunctional now and it was pretty much 2.0 online (but v448) at this point.
